How to Plan a Food-focused Train Trip Through Europe

"A family-run biodynamic vineyard tucked into the hills of Avenay where nature and even astrology guide vineyard practices; visitors wander awakening vines, encounter large crystals in the barrel room, and taste a lineup of Champagnes noted for their mineral character and deep, soil-rooted flavors, reflecting the producers’ philosophy of listening to and respecting the juice." - Hannah Howard

We had an amazing experience at Champagne Augustine Vineyard Makers! Leonie was super knowledgeable about the whole process, we saw Marcus and his wife getting ready for the harvest, heir commitment to biodynamic farming, without chemicals or additives, really shines through in the quality of their wines. The tasting, tour, and charming house made for a memorable visit. You can truly taste the difference in their wines—they’re not only delicious but also a reflection of their care for the environment. We’ve been drinking more biodynamic wines, and this visit confirmed why. The personal touch and passion they bring make the experience even more special. Highly recommend!

A fantastic visit to a small Champagne house — personal, informative, and not touristy. We tasted five excellent Champagnes, all great value. They even drove us back to our hotel and showed us the vineyards. 5 stars! 🍾🌟

Unprofessional and not worth 35 euro for a tasting! We visited Champagne Augustin with the intention of buying Champagnes. Asked them if it was possible and perhaps taste some of there wines. They invited us to a guided tour without telling us the cost would be 35 euros each. I am a wineblogger since -09 and I can’t remember that unprofessional attitude ever. The producer uses Biodynamic methods but only in the Vertus Chardonnay range you could notice very high quality. Unfortunately that one was sold out even if we got the chance to taste it. (That is normally not the way to do it) We also was told the wrong info regarding which vintage we tasted for one of the wines) Champagne has to many producers so why bother to visit this one.

Had a very interesting tour of the champagne production. They make very delicious organic (demeter quality) Champagne. Very small and clean family business.

Beautiful vineyard, all organic, very unique style. The hosts were extremely nice and welcoming. A bit “spiritual” for me but still super interesting.

Bad welcome, sent us away saying they don’t sell to Italians….no comment.
