I Kayaked Dominica's Waitukubuli Sea Trail—Here's What It Was Like

"A famous coastal attraction included on the maritime route, described as a frothy beach “where small bubbles rise from the volcanic seafloor,” offering a unique volcanic marine spectacle visible from sea." - Elspeth Velten Elspeth Velten Elspeth is the Senior Vice President & Group General Manager of Dotdash Meredith's Travel Group. Beautiful beach. We kayaked from our accommodation at Lonnoc Beach which was a great experience. The water is so blue, even on a cloudy day and when you're on a kayak you go over some beautiful and lively reefs. The sand at champagne beach is so soft and it's a great swimming spot. Costs 1000 Vatus per person (even if you arrive by kayak) and there's a bar/restaurant where you can get food and drinks which are reasonably priced.

Visited Espiritu Santo when the cruise ship we were on, Carnival Luminosa docked there for the day. We took a tour to Champagne Beach with a local taxi driver, much cheaper than booking the tour on the cruise ship. Champagne Beach is a very stunning beach, probably one of the best beaches i have been to, great for snorkelling. There is an admission fee payable to the local people, cost us $75 au, for 5 of us. Its about an hours drive one way from the cruise ship terminal. I would love to return to this Island one day and spend more time there, so much to see and do and the locals are very friendly.

(4.5 stars) This one’s a corker! Champagne Beach is world-renowned for its white, soft sand and calm blue waters. It's often voted one of the best beaches in the world, and you'll see why. The beach gets its name from the volcanic gases that come up through the sand at the shoreline to make it feel and look like champagne under your feet. But we’re here for the ridiculous beauty of the whole package, plus some quality snorkelling to be had around the bommies offshore. There’s shady spots to sit and take in the view, plus a couple of simple thatched beach hut restaurant/bars serving the island basics. Entry to the whole site is via a 1,000VT payment to the custom owners. So worth every Vatu! It’s been very quiet every time we’ve visited here over the years, but we’re told you should avoid it whenever there’s a cruise ship docked in Santo, as they swarm off the boat and all over the best spots on the island for the day. Fortunately they don’t visit that often.

This is the best beach in Vanuatu and possibly one of the best on the planet.

Water was crystal clear and perfect for snorkelling. Took van from hotel in town and driver waited for us while we swam and looked through the small market. Take snorkelling gear with you. Clean toilets on site. 2000vt entry fee per vehicle.

One of the most beautiful beaches I've been too. Crystal clear water and the sand was so fine and nice between your toes, it was like walking on cloud. Heaven on earth. It was not busy. Must do if in Santo

Only us and couple of other tourists were there, was great to have this beautiful beach for ourselves! The water is pristine, sand is white! Amazing place for a day of snorkelling, jumping into the water of the jetty, jumping over waves, building sand castles and just having fun! Unfortunately we didn't have any locals and the bars were closed. But understandable with not many people around. There are toilets available there too. 2000VUV entry fee per vehicle.
