Champagne Mercier

What an amazing experience! If you are passing through the Champagne region, Mercier is an absolute must visit. The tour takes you through the caves with a fascinating explanation of the history and everything related to champagne. To top it all off, the tasting at the end was fantastic. Don't miss it you have to do it!

Enjoyable tour, suitable for children 4 years plus I would say. Very helpful staff in the on site shop and reasonable prices. Would reccomend for a family wanting a champagne tour experience in Epernay.

very impressive how champagne came about until you actually visit this authentic place where only champagne is made. huge underground preservation, and how incredible for this young man’s business knowledge to make his dream come true.

We had really good experience in Champagne House Mercier. Very interested tour on the train through the cellars with the tastjng afterwards. The signature Champagne blanc de noirs quite good quality for the price and I would consider special attention. I quite liked theirs vintage champagne as well, which I think massively under priced. Overall definitely worth the visit.

Brilliant visit. Our guide Manon did a fantastic job showing us the cellars and explaining the process of champagne making. She was also very helpful in talking us through the area and giving us its rich history. It was the first of many champagne houses we went to, but its charm stayed with us. The little train journey through the labyrinth of tunnels was super fun. And best of all, was the tasting. The Mercier champagne, especially the brut reserve was brilliant. Hopefully we get to come back here again at some point. Highly recommended if you’re in Épernay.

Interesting fact filled tour of the caves mostly in a small electric train. Impressive 200000 bottle barrel in reception. Three (or was it four? hic) glasses of champagne, sampled with a sommelier offering her insights, all included in the circa £25 ticket.

On Wednesday, half al hour before closing time, we visited Mercier. We wanted to take the little train through the caves but understandably that wasn’t possible anymore. We were welcomed very warmly and it was possible to do a last minute tasting. The staff was incredibly nice and such great hospitality. Marvelous champagne and good explaining of the tastes. Because of this wonderful experience, we decided to come back the next day (and suspended our journey home) to do the tour through the caves. We enjoyed every minute of it. Our tour guide was named Nelson, the same person who welcomed us the day before. He was incredibly nice, funny and modest and one of the reasons we came back. We had a wonderful experience. Top of the bill: one of the French staff members was learning Dutch and doing it really well. Enfin: we recommend it to anyone!
