Champs Barbeque

I’ve been here for lunch a few times on the weekend and been meaning to post a review but forgot about it. This quaint little restaurant may look like a basic cinder block building on the outside but once you step in, you are greeted by friendly “hellos” and “welcomes”. This family owned business is obviously rooted in religious faith and appreciative of what they have been blessed with as the walls of the restaurant are covered with many religious artifacts and verses. The menu is relatively small, yet with plenty of options for everyone. I typically go with the barbecue pork sandwich with the sauce on the side and onion rings, both of which are delicious. The pork is tender and the sandwiches are packed full of meat. I generally get my sauce on the side so the taste of the smoked pork is not overwhelmed by too much sauce. My mom went with the cheeseburger on our last visit and said it was tasty as well. I consider this the best barbecue in Wetumpka and plan to make many return visits. Try them out and you won’t be disappointed!

If I could give a 6th star, I certainly would. Every since this family opened their business they have provided exceptional food and service to the community. More importantly they have become a loved staple - not just for their high quality food, but for the wonderful people they are. Go visit them and support a family owned business done right. You won't regret it.

They have THE best burger in Elmore County. Their onion rings are great, as well as the fries! You have to try the green beans!!! I also love their chopped chicken plate with the barbecue sauce. They are always friendly and happy to take our order. They also get the food out in a reasonable time.

The best BBQ sandwiches I've ever had! The tender meat and the BBQ sauce and smokey flavor is amazing! 100% worth a visit if you have never been to Champs!

I had the rib plate w sauce on the side. My 2 sides were baked beans and cole slaw. I enjoyed it very much even without the sauce on it. The sauce had a good flavor so it would be good either way. The baked beans have smoked pork pieces in them. Slaw was good too. My aunt ordered catfish dinner and the fish was freshly fried when ordered. We are not familiar w chunky potatoe salad but the green beans were pretty good.

Absolutely phenomenal barbeque! The meats and sides were cooked to perfection and the homemade sauce is like no other. I got the sausage plate with green beans and mac and cheese and I can't recommend it highly enough! Do yourself a favor and stop by Champs Barbeque and grab some amazing food!

This is what an independent bbq joint is supposed to be. Minimal menu, great value, impeccable food. Owner usually on premises. It's busy, in fundamentally nowhere. Go. Nice dining area,self serve drink stand.

We ordered the bbq sandwhich, bbq ribs, and the pork/chicken plate. With the 3 meals we got to try just about every side, and we also got the chocolate pie and banana pudding. Everything was AMAZING!! Especially after a 4 hour kayak down the Koosa river!
