I went to Chandlier Studios because it was close to a conference I was attending at the cyclorama. I was happy about the location, getting to my room reminded me of trying to exit an escape room. Eventually I got into my room. Accommodations were smaller than I had expected, although the bathroom was really nice and there was a decent size shower. I had settled in to sleep for the first night and woke up early in the morning trying to remember if I checked if my bed was actually a bed. I was convinced I was sleeping on a box spring. The bed was extremely hard and sleep was rough. Eventually I got up to take a shower and wham! Cold water. I figured someone didn’t turn on the hot water heater for the second floor. I called into Hotel 140 every 30 minutes from 7 to 8:30am trying to get a status. On the last call they finally told me someone was working on it with no ETA and they would call me when it was all set. I said fine and went about my day after a freezing shower. I went back that night and found the hot water was back and was able to take a proper shower. I guess they forgot to call me to let me know it was all set?
The last kicker for me was the Kleenex box. The box had a single facial tissue stuffed in the bottom of it. That was a great metaphor for the care that is given this facility. It’s possible to improve the studios with a few slight tweaks but there are too many other hotel options in the area to deal with this place.
