"Find Solace at the Eternal Spring Shrine If you pass through Taroko, the Eternal Spring Shrine is one of the places you have to stop. This unique shrine built into the mountainside over a waterfall can be seen from the highway, and it's a just a short walk through a cave-like trail carved out of the cliffside to visit this small, but picturesque, spot."

Situated against a cliff face overlooking cascading waterfalls and lush greenery, the shrine offers a picturesque backdrop that's ideal for photography and enjoying the natural beauty of Taroko Gorge. While the shrine itself holds historical and cultural significance, its appreciation may vary depending on your expectations and preferences. We find that the shrine is better appreciated from afar, as the close-up experience may not always match the grandeur portrayed in photographs. The small size of the shrine itself may not justify the effort for all visitors. Consider enjoying the views of the shrine from viewpoints along the trail without necessarily climbing up to it, especially if you prefer to avoid crowds or have limited time.

The access is on the right side stairway after the red bridge. Walking through the rock tunnel makes it exciting getting to the shrine. Some lovely photos of the colourful buildings and the river flowing down the rocks. Also nice views over the river flowing down the wide gorge, at this point.

Walking to the Shrine is to remember those who died when building this highway. The building was built with waterfalls. Walk up and back give you a different view of the Liwu river and Changchun Bridge.

Cute short hike to reach this place. We lucked out and manage to watch the nuns praying! It has beautiful views, just like everywhere in taroko gorge!

One of must-see destination in Taroko list. Easy to access the parking lot by car, bus or scooters. Cross the red bridge, go down to a tunel then the temple appears at the end. It's a small temple which was built to honor the people who died during the time of highway construction. Peaceful and sacred place. No need ticket.

One of the most best inside Taroko Gorge and a must-see place when you're there visiting - the temple is lovely and to read the stories about the history is fascinating - defiantly take a walk up to see the views too!

A place like out of a fairytale. There's currently not much to do here since the trail is closed, but the view is just stunning. You can walk up to the shrine and see it from up close but it just looks so fantastic from afar. Weather wasn't very good, the rain was drizzling, but this only added to the atmosphere. Would have loved to try the trail, so I'll be back sometime in the future.
