This palace is the palace used by the surviving Queens of the Joseon dynasty, there are many well known stories based in this palace. The palace was almost destroyed during the Japanese colonial period when it was turned into a theme park and some buildings were removed/sold but since that time it has been restored/maintained to some of its former glory. We saw it around sunset and it was nice to walk around as the sun was setting. There is a lake with lovely surrounding gardens and greenery. Towards the back of the palace is a European style greenhouse.

Well worth a visit. There's two sites which interconnect. The first main palace has an excellent audio guide and site map which you can access via the QR code at the entrance. The second Changgyeonggung palace is set in lovely park grounds, with ponds and a glass house. Toilets were nice and clean. You get free entry if you wear Korean national dress, which was nice for us tourists to see.

Beautiful traditional palace, definitely worth visiting—especially for the Secret Garden. A separate ticket is required for the garden, and it’s best to arrive early as it’s very popular. Like other palaces, entrance is free if you wear a hanbok (traditional Korean clothing). Great spot for photos and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere!

Changgyeonggung palace is an unassuming gem! In the shadows of its more intricate and massive counterparts, this place holds a speciality which most people miss. It is open after sunset, with very few people. The buildings are lighted in a very subtle yet aesthetic way, which is a joy to watch. More so, when you have the whole place for yourself!! The garden in the campus has some light displays with some very soothing music playing. This makes up for a very pleasant experience. A must visit in Seoul, especially after sunset.

This historical palace is stunning. Best to go late in the day after the crowds have gone. I went at 330pm and was able to enjoy most of the palace alone. It really feels like you have gone back in time.

Located in Changgyeonggung, there are great gardens, palace and secrete garden. You pay separately for garden secrete garden and the palace. This is great chance to see historical architecture, palace in the middle of garden. You need to book a half a day

Underrated gem with peaceful vibes and rich history Changgyeonggung Palace (창경궁) is a beautiful and often underrated historical site in Seoul. It’s less crowded than other major palaces, which makes for a peaceful and relaxed visit where you can really soak in the surroundings at your own pace. The architecture is elegant and well-preserved, and the palace grounds are spacious with plenty of open areas, ponds, and trees — especially lovely in spring and autumn. It’s a great place to stroll, take photos, and learn about Joseon Dynasty history without the big crowds. If you're looking for a quieter alternative to Gyeongbokgung or Changdeokgung, this is a perfect spot to explore. Highly recommended for history lovers, photographers, or anyone wanting a calm break in the middle of the city. More pics at my IG: @ogolphotos
