Yelp
Gorgeous and relaxing lake. The lake is enormous. Chapala has a beautiful remodeled boardwalk and a statute called "Jesus el pescador" (Jesus the fisherman) The lake is usually surrounded by locals and not many tourists. If you come make sure to try the bomb micheladas, charales (little dried fish), fried fish, native candy, ice cream etc. Beat days to come are during the week in the afternoon when most of the vendors are also open for business. Make sure togo on a boat ride to one of the two island on the lake. You can definitely pick up some authentic Mexican souvenirs. The boardwalk also has a couple of seafood restaurants and hotels. A think this is a great place to visit it isn't that well known by many tourists. If you leave the boardwalk and head into town (walking distance) you will see the local cathedral, municipal buildings, drug stores, cafes, bakeries, mercado, plaza, rodeo, fair grounds and many other great stores. A MUST PLACE TO VISIT SOMEDAY!

Yelp
Amazing place to take a breath, you can pay $200.00 pesos and take the tour to the Alacranes Island

Yelp
La pasè super!! This is my first time coming to Chapala, and I absolutely had a blast!! The weather was just perfect and the boat ride, fantastic!! We got to the Isla de los Alacranes by boat and ate a typical fish dish and drank some tequila concoction served in a cazuela, my friend, who is a Guadalajara native, showed me around and we had an amazing time.
