"I got a quick lunch at Chapati House of spicy chickpeas and spinach over rice topped with fresh ginger, banana peppers, and spicy mango, and I ordered extra cilantro." - Chris Crowley

Booked for dads birthday dinner. Great menu, fabulous, friendly service. Food absolutely delicious!! Every dish was fresh, full of flavour & generous portions. Eggplant Masala a stand out! A new local favorite for our family and friends. Can't believe we didn't try sooner. Thank you.

I was suggested to try this place. I didn’t know you need to book. The staff was kindly able to have a table for us. Food was nice but I personally think it’s overpriced with the amount of food in each dish. Serving is quite small. Ordered: Tandoori mixed platter $29.50 Mango Chicken $21 Kaju butter masala $19.50 Lamb Korma $22.50 Garlic naan $4.50 Kashmiri naan $5.90 Kingfisher beer $8 Note: • They gave papadam 2pcs on the house • For me it was quite stuffy inside. With the kitchen opened and seemed like it has no ventilation from the kitchen, everything was inside the restaurant.

I’ve always enjoyed ordering food from here, but there’s a big issue with consistency. If you order just one curry, the food is excellent. The problem starts when you place a bigger order with multiple curries. The quality drops drastically. Last night I ordered 2 dal makhni and 2 malai kofta, and the food was terrible. A guest visiting from Melbourne wanted to try the food, and they were very disappointed with the taste. It felt embarrassing. Unless you’re ordering just one curry, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious. Portions are generous and the food is fresh, tasty and the service is great. We have been repeat customers for a long time and are looking forward to our next visit.

The staff are always so kind and friendly. They give us papadums and delicious mint yoghurt while we wait for our meals. The garlic naans are delicious, and the curries are full of flavour. While I’ve tried many of the curries, the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan is a divine combination. Food and service have been consistently great over the past 3 years, that I’ve returned numerous times.

Excellent food! Must try the stuffed kulcha — it’s absolutely delicious. 👍 Big thumbs up to the cook, Vikram, for the amazing flavors. The service is great, and it’s a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal with family. Highly recommended!

Extremely disappointing customer service experience at Chapati House Visited this restaurant with a friend and had one of the most unpleasant experiences before even getting to order. The place was practically empty, with just one table of two people seated in the corner. We simply asked to sit at a table of our choice, away from them, since the entire restaurant was open. However, the server hesitated and insisted we sit right next to the only other customers there. She even moved a larger table closer to them and refused to let us sit just one table away, saying she “might need to join tables if more people came in.” We politely mentioned that we’d be happy to move if that situation arose, but she walked off with a visibly grumpy attitude. This encounter completely ruined our mood to dine there. We ended up walking out without ordering anything. When leaving, she asked why we weren’t eating — we told her honestly that her attitude had ruined our dining experience. It’s disappointing to see such poor customer service when all we wanted was a pleasant meal and a bit of space in an empty restaurant. Definitely not a welcoming experience, and we won’t be returning. -----‐------------------‐------------------‐------------------‐------ Reply to Owner's Comment:- Thank you for your reply, Mr./Ms. Owner. Your response is the clearest confirmation of why our experience was so disappointing. The arrogance and hostility in your comment perfectly mirror the attitude we encountered from your staff — and now it’s obvious where it comes from. Let’s be clear: our concern was never about a table policy. It was about the complete lack of courtesy and basic customer respect. We entered an EMPTY restaurant and politely asked to sit one table away from the only other diners, yet your staff refused and treated us with unnecessary attitude. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. Instead, we were met with defensiveness and control. Your attempt to label us “entitled” just because we requested a bit of space speaks volumes about how you view your customers — as obstacles to your profit margins rather than guests to be welcomed. Your obsession with boasting about “110 covers” only highlights that what truly matters to you isn’t hospitality, it’s numbers. If you genuinely cared about managing tables efficiently, a simple “Reserved” sign on select tables could have solved your so-called problem. Instead, you chose to argue and drive paying customers away — then proudly defend it online. That’s not business efficiency; that’s Ego. A restaurant that values profit over people is not one that deserves returning customers. If you truly believe your food makes up for this attitude, perhaps visit places like Chatkazz — where respect, service, and genuine warmth still exist alongside great food. And just to clarify — YES!!! customers are ENTITLED to customer service. Expecting basic respect, courtesy, and the freedom to choose a seat in an EMPTY restaurant isn’t “entitlement”; it’s the bare minimum of hospitality. What’s truly entitled is believing you can treat customers poorly and still expect their business. To future diners reading this: if you value a pleasant experience and basic respect, there are far better places to spend your time and money.

We had dinner at this nice little restaurant. All of the items in tandoori mix plater were well cooked and delicious. We tried vegetarian and non-vegetarian mix plater as our mains. All of the curry were good and delectable. They were not too mild - not too spicy. (you can always ask them to make according to your likes.) We were expecting long wait time to get our food as it was busy Friday night but surprisingly it was quick. Bit disappointed with dessert. (house special ice-cream.)We have ordered mango ice cream. Overall, it was a great dining experience at this restaurant with good and quick customers service. Extensive menu with justifiable price, plus some daily special on the wall, large car park. Thank you Chapati House 2.

Yelp
Amazing food!Excellent customer service. However:There is always room for improvement:please check the amount of oil content in the dishes. It felt slightly on the higher side than normal Dal tadka and malai kofta) On the positive note:Both dishes were full of flavours and very delectable.

Yelp
Great service, excellent atmosphere - love the fact you can see, hear and smell all the chefs at work. Authentic masala chai and mains. They do some good classic starters and have the capacity and ability to cater for large orders which is a plus. Note: Some dishes like the Dhaal are a bit more on the oily side and I would not order again... however I would recommend the biryanis :)

Yelp
Hidden away in the Blackforest Shopping Centre, Chapati House may not look like an ideal location for Indian Banquet.. but don't let the location fool you. Chapati house are makers of great Indian Food. The design of the venue, is nothing to write home about, but it does its job.. adequate seating and pleasant staff.. One thing that I did find interesting with Chapati House is the fact the Kitchen was open, Indian is one of those strange mystical meals that is cooked in a hidden away backroom, this is a fresh approach.. and not often seen.. I like it. The food was tasty, and generous in size.. Unfortunately the dishes I ordered may have been the problem with this place.. We decided to have a vegetarian night, and the meals that we got weren't the best.. Not much flavour.. :( I think next time.. we'll have to go with something more authentic.. like a lamb korma or butter chicken to give them a better chance to prove themselves.. Overall a really nice experience, but the vegetarian dishes, we're a little lacking. I'll still be back! :)

Yelp
This used to be our local, and even though we've moved we always end up back here when we want Indian. The food is tasty, intense and with just the right level of buttery oiliness for that naughty takeaway night without dominating the flavours. The serving sizes are very generous (we always end up eating it for 2 nights) and the price is very reasonable. Their naans are reliably delicious and they will put in whatever flavours you want. The meat used to fall apart at the touch of a fork but we've found some fattier cuts included in the last couple of years. Service is always prompt, although since we take away I can't comment on the dine in service.

Yelp
Yum, yum and YUM! I find any excuse to visit my friends who live in Blackforest just so we can order Indian food from Chapati house. It just so happens that my friends are good company too ;-) Chapati house have a dining area set up quite nicely but I would presume take aways are the main orders they receive. There's always other people there when I order but that doesn't mean it gets stupidly busy. The prices are reasonable and the food is always great...believe me, I've eaten there a LOT! It's great for the standard 'butter chicken' lovers, right through to those who like a fish curry. YUM!

Yelp
Looking for a top notch Indian takeaway? Look no further. We live nowhere near here, but were also introduced by friends who live locally to Chapati House, and were instantly hooked. We usually get takeaways because it's a convenient spot on the way home from work, but have also dined in and weren't disappointed. Agree with other reviewers, the interior is simple, but comfortable. The food is wonderful and priced very reasonably. Favourites are: Lamb Shanks Masala (seasonal special, ask if it's available when you order) and Mango Chicken. Cheese and onion naan isn't on the menu either, but ask for it and they will make it for you.

Yelp
The Chapati House 2 is a small restaurant located on the busy South Road at Black Forest. A friend and I had decided to dine at this place for a quick catch-up. My friend wasn't a big fan of Indian food until one of her friends bought her here and ever since then she has been dining at this restaurant. When we first arrived to the restaurant we were greeted by the friendly staffs and were shown to our seats. They presented us with the menu and made some helpful recommendation and as well as tonight's special. The foods on the menu are well priced with everything under $20 and there are a lot of meat and vegetarian dishes to choose from. All of the food here are of North Indian Cuisine. My friend and I had decided to order three dishes; the Butter Chicken, the Lamb Vindaloo and the eggplant vegetable dish. We also order the Masla Kulcha Naan bread and the Kashmiri Naan bread. While waiting for our meals to arrive I had a good look at the restaurant. As others have suggested this restaurant is not as beautifully decorated compare to other places I have been to around Adelaide. There is a small open kitchen which allows us to see the chefs cook our meals and the smell of Indian food fragrant made us even more hungry. After waiting for about 15mins our dishes had arrived. I thought the Butter Chicken was succulent and tender, and the curry was creamy. The meat in the Lamb Vindaloo was a bit dry and tough, but the curry was very hot and spicy. The eggplant dish was to die for; it was very spicy and delicious. We both love the naan breads here and we dip it into our curry sauce and it was delicious. Overall the service was good. The staffs were friendly and inviting and catered to our needs whenever we need them. The food was very delicious and value for money. My friend absolutely loves this place and we will be coming back here for more.

Yelp
Frustrated with local options, ventured to the Chapati house for emergency takeout. Not bad at all, A-OK. The place has seen renovations since the previous reviews it seems. Went for the tandoor this time, which is quite good (sometimes a bit oilier). The Dahl was very good as was the rice. Everyone working there has smiles while concentrating, a big plus. Prices are decent and menu uncomplicated - I'm totally willing to find its specialties. Will I come back? Definitely! if I'm not feeling too Adelaidean and want to venture further than my little suburb. You should visit too.

Yelp
Interior designers: don't eat here, you won't enjoy it. Everyone else, don't judge this book by its cover. A dodgy-ish strip mall on South Road probably isn't the first place you'd look for a decent feed. But Chapati House 2 is a diamond in the rough. Bare bones interior, but better food than many Adelaide Indian restaurants at significantly higher price points. Try the Lamb Rogan Josh, which at $14 is one of the most expensive items on the menu. Chicken Tikka Masala ($13.50) is another highlight. Sweet mango chutney is an extra $2.00. It's an easy menu to navigate, presumably an unintended benefit of Chapati House 2 being geared towards take away. Dine in and take advantage of the cheap house wine. Now accepting EFTPOS and credit cards.

Yelp
Don't judge it by its interior decorating. This place is amazing! Great indian takeaway ,reasonable prices and big serves. Had to wait 45 mins but it was a busy night and well worth the wait. They threw in free Pakoras for the wait. Friendly staff. This will satisfy the taste buds!

Yelp
A great find.Visiting in the area and was looking for a takeway. Drove past and noted the phone number. Rang and obtained the name; searched on the internet and came to: http://www.grubfinder.com.au/ downloaded menu, placed the order and 20 mins later we were ooohing and ahhhing as we tucked into a veritable feast. An entree, 2 main courses (prawns and fish) plus two vegetable dishes (potato and spinach;' eggplant) with a complimentary papadam pack filled 2 healthy appetites for a total of $50. There were 7 on duty, 6 of whom were in a kitchen area no bigger than a unit kitchen. This in the genuine deal; if you enjoy excellent Indian you will not be disappointed. Next time we are going to eat in; the wine selection was contained in an atmosphere controlled cabinet with a small selection of beer and soft drinks in a fridge.

Yelp
the thing i like most about this place is that it is a bit of a dump and hasnt had a mega million dollar reno. the food is outrageously good and the staff are really cool. its pretty cheap too. dont go and dine in expecting some fine dining experience, there are people coming and going picking up takeaway and all that, i love the atmosphere personally. very authentic and not trying to be something it isnt.
