Great cocktails in a jazzy, speakeasy atmosphere - the live band was a great addition! I definitely recommend making a reservation because they have very limited seating We were seated very quickly and were invited to try a small cocktail to start! The original cocktails are fun, all have a certain twist to them. A must try!

I had an exceptional experience at Charlemagne, largely thanks to the outstanding service from Parker and Bill. Beyond their impressive mixology skills, their professional yet welcoming demeanor truly stands out. They have a rare talent for making every guest feel valued and at home. Absolutely incredible cocktails and service. Parker gave us the perfect recommendations and went off book to make us some of the best cocktails we've ever had! The attention to detail is amazing. The guy behind the beverage program here and Champlain's Pony Bar deserves all the awards

Best bar in Toronto hands down. Super creative drinks and wonderful service. Jazz nights on Tuesdays are the best night to visit but you’ll need a reservation as it’s packed.

Really cool spot. Amazing interior and bar setup. The mixologist and bartenders know their stuff here. Had the Verona and Guilded Rose and both were awesome.

Small cozy but nice, romantic cocktail bar! Tyler is very nice and he’s good at what he does. His custom drinks are always on point (and of course the drinks on the menu).

The service here is top notch, they make you feel welcomed and feeling good for your whole time there. The drinks are quite pricey but are delicious, I’d say try to check out the jazz night on a Tuesday night at 7 so it’s like drinks and a show. Anyways this was a very great place to bring a date to impress for sure. The service is definitely the highlight thanks again guys!

Toronto's best kept secret! This speakeasy is the real deal with fantastic service, great cocktails and a delicious food menu to accompany it. Don't forget thier Tuesday Jazz Nights for a proper classy evening out.

We can't experience a true speakeasy nowadays, or can we? Charlemagne, situated above Cafe Renee, is a refreshing addition to the Portland street strip. The intimate, candle lit bar is a true speakeasy in nature. Inside a full menu of cocktails, from classics to new, are slung from expert hands. Watching the bartenders expertly mix their craft is a joy. The Foreign Correspondent was smooth and easy to drink; while the Rabbit Hole was boozy, complex and very rewarding. There are but a few canvases for true bartenders in this city. Let Charlemagne be one of your adventures.

4.5 stars. Almost perfect but they're probably short staffed and so the roll out is a bit slow. We tried a bunch of things and everything tasted spectacular - bird's punch is a delicious clarified one, foreign correspondent also tropical yet balanced,Balthazar and gilded rose.

Very nice speakeasy. Open late and right off the strip. It's a very dark and intimate room. Very good cocktail list. Service was wonderful. Located upstairs from the restaurant on the first floor. I had an excellent time here.

Tucked upstairs of Cafe Renee is this speakeasy vibe cocktail bar! After dining at Cafe Renee downstairs we realized that they have a speakeasy cocktail bar on the second floor. The server was sweet enough to lead us upstairs and knocked on the door for us. The vibe here is amazing, dark and romantic. The bartender behind the bar was great and answered all our questions we had. Drinks were great and he had some recco's based on what our preferences in liquor and taste were. It's a nice and quiet spot and I really enjoyed my time here. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're already dining at Cafe Renee. I can see the spot getting busy since it's a small space, so maybe make some resos in advance.

Long Review Income First and foremost. We had a party of 10 and all from out of town. For a high end cocktail bar with limited seats on a Saturday night, a group of 10 is a BIG ASK. Instead of immediately turning us away, they took the approach of "can we make this work?" After a great conversation with Jackson (whom I believe was the bar manager) and little flexibility from their current guests, we were able to make it happen with a group of 10 Once we arrived, we were blown away by the ambiance. Dark, moody, classy and elegant. Our bartender, Parker, warmly greated us and got us started with a small drink to cheers with (Very nice touch that I wish more cocktail bars did) Parker was timely, answered sooo many of our cocktail enthusiast questions and provided incredible service to our entire group The cocktails themselves were top notch but the service we received is what really took Charlemagne to the next level. Everyone left in awe of the overall experience. I could keep going about how great this place is, but. I will end with this. Jackson: thank you for working with us and being so incredibly accommodating. It meant the world to our group who were in search of a great cocktail. Parker: thank you for provided EVERYONE with top notch service and creating memories for all of us to remember. You are such a shining example of what it means to be a GREAT Bartender. If you want incredible cocktails, but even greater care and service... Charlemagne is the place to be.
