I love this small town theater. Always clean, professional, and friendly. Everything is priced well and always have a great time.

I was shocked how inexpensive it was. I said, “Really?!” When I bought matinee tickets. A bit more for the concessions, but much less than a chain franchise theater. I’m glad they keep it open for the community. Clean and friendly. There were a lot of kids there but they were all well behaved and quiet during the show.

They don’t take cards. Only cash. And it is so cold in their building that I was shivering wearing leggings under my jeans as well as 2 long sleeve shirts and a hoodie. The seating is super tight as well.

Nice theatre. Classic sesting style but comfortable. Prices are really cheap and workers are all volunteers. Movies are usually a few weeks behind. Took the kids to see movie and the theatre has booster seats available to help them see over the person in front of them, they worked ok but kids struggled to keep them on seat. They kept falling off the sides of the seat. Not a big deal but we ended up not using ours.

Amazing spot, ran by great people and volunteers. Where else can you see a movie for $2?? Add in that the concession prices are SUPER reasonable (I believe $9 for a large combo with a refill on the popcorn and soda) and you've got a great spot for Charles City

The Charles Theater is a gem among North Iowa businesses. It's a beautifully restored old theater, run by the community. At $2 a ticket, it's great for an evening out for families, or just a cheap date night. The snacks are more pricy, but that's a fair price to pay for the cheap admission.

Cindy & I just saw the movie, Midway, tonight. We just love this theater! A restored, home town theater with the ambiance of a theater from the 50's. $3.00 for a movie ticket, $2.00 for those 55+ years old. Shows start at 7:00 p.m.

Great one room theater! It only plays one movie a night at 7:00pm but it's a nice place to go because movies end up here about 1-2 months after normal theaters and you get in for 2 dollars a person. Theres great popcorn and nice seating sometimes people can be a little rude but they have staff walk around the theater a couple times during the movie to prevent rude people all an all great theater and the only one in 45 mile radius.

Yelp
This theatre is a gem! I tried to take a photo of the old 50's style projector situated directly in the middle of the entry doors to the theatre room but no go! $2 tix for adult and $1 kids and seniors. They show new movies a few weeks after they hit the theatres. So for $2 it's a bargain of bargains. It's the type of deal you find at a goodwill where they mislabeled the prices on red tag 50% off day and you get it for free! Popcorn and drinks are cheap and seating is just fine. As they say in Aladdin, "Its a Diamond in the Rough."

Yelp
We came to see 10 Cloverfield lane. Yeah...this place doesn't show new movies, but that's ok. I never did get to see 10 Cloverfield lane when it first came out anyway. I think most of the town was there to see it. It's a small town ..so go figure. With prices like $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for kids...who wouldn't want to go to a movie. I felt like I went back in time....like 70 years. The theatre was a bit dated and old, but it's still pretty clean and neat...minus the smells of cow manure from some old farmers boots. Old wood floors and unique theatre decore. The seats are not the most comfortable. Popcorn is pretty cheap compared to the other Big time movie theatres...and..it tasted pretty good too. So of your ever in the area...go and support this little local movie theatre.

Yelp
From their website: Showtimes every night 7:00 PM Adults $2 - Children and Seniors $1 Yes, you read that right. And I saw "The Dark Knight" here last week - and it's still in first run! Okay, price point out of the way, now on to the rave. First - this is a real, old, big, one-screen movie theatre from the days when the movies were something special. The facade is a gorgeous example those days, its geometric, restrained 1930s style a joy to behold. Inside, the original light fixtures and fittings remain. The floor is HARDWOOD PLANKS. Modern, comfy seats fit perfectly with the style and ambiance, having been chosen with care. An original dairy wall clock hangs in one of the back exit hallway doors. Popcorn is on offer in front at the snackbar. The place is filled with kids and families. There's even a (very) stern usher, who polices the place for cell phones and contraband! The show starts every night at 7:00pm (a sign hanging by the box office window tells you when the show will let out) and my family confirms it is always packed. Gotta confess I got a bit of a lump in my throat, seeing all those people gathered downtown, hanging out and seeing the show together, having a bit of a real, old-time American home town experience. This is someplace to go out of your way to experience. Check out their website. Check them out on a map. Is Charles City a road trip destination? It ought to be.

Yelp
What a neat place! Visited this gem with the kids and there is really nothing bad I could say about the experience. It's clean, staff are kind, prices are fantastic and the theater room itself is perfect.

Yelp
$2 movie tickets, $5 pop + popcorn combos. Good screen, good audio, and good seats. NO 3D, NO IMAX, BUT I DON'T CARE!

Yelp
They have $2 movies every night! They may get the movies a little later and they only have one theater, but it's great.

Yelp
After moving from California...this theater was like a unicorn for me. A nice theater with good sound for $1-$2?!?!? WOW. you can also get a large bucket of popcorn and a large drink for around $6 AND!!!!! you can refill both one time for free!!!! They tend to turn away the over the top R rated movies and they are not afraid to throw out those who don't understand proper behavior. I love this theater and we visit nearly weekly.
