On Thursday, January 3, around 7:30–8:00 PM on Meeting Street, I experienced an unexpected allergic reaction while out with my family. Joshua G., who was working at the time, noticed immediately and chose to stop and help — something he absolutely did not have to do.
Joshua checked on me, made sure the surrounding area was safe, provided bottled water, asked my parents if they needed anything, and stayed with us to ensure I was okay. He went above and beyond by giving my mom and me a free ride back to our car so I could get to the emergency room quickly and safely.
He could have continued working, picked up more passengers, and moved on — but instead, he chose to be present, compassionate, and proactive. In a world where people often walk past instead of stepping in, Joshua did the opposite. His character, morals, and genuine concern for others stood out in a way that truly mattered in that moment.
Because of Joshua, I felt safe — not just then, but reassured knowing that there are still people who will stop to help, especially when a parent and child are involved. I strongly encourage Charleston Bike Taxi to formally recognize Joshua for his actions. Employees with this level of integrity, compassion, and professionalism represent the highest standard of your company and deserve to be acknowledged.
Thank you again Joshua I really do appreciate your kindness and compassion in a moment of complete terror for my family.
