Charles Pan-Fried Chicken Plans Citywide Chain

"What began as cooking out of a Harlem apartment and selling from a folding table evolved into a roaming food truck that served chicken, hot dogs and chopped barbecue across the city—parking at HPD buildings, welfare centers, post offices and evening barbershops—building a grassroots following by being everywhere people needed quick, flavorful southern food." - Grub Street

Ordered greens, mac n cheese, fried okra, rib tips, and corn muffins. I would say greens was seasoned well with a little kick(spicy). One of the best greens I've had in AZ. Okra was good, too. I didn't care for the corn muffin because I don't eat like very sweet cornbread and that's my preference. Rib tip a lot of fat barely meat and mac n cheese it was cheesy but didn't taste the cheese. It was a little strange. I like to try different soul food places to support us. I would go back to this place for the greens. Location isn't in the best spot. Also sides were $5 each, I think price was a little high for the little amount you receive.

So my husband and I ordered fried fish combo and beef brisket sandwich combo.... also ordered additional sides, collard greens..2 cans of soda.. according to the menu the fish combo came with two pieces of fish however my husband only got one. They forgot our two additional sides. I went up to the counter and addressed it with the young man who was behind the counter and also working in the kitchen. He took care of us very quickly and was apologetic. The dining room feels like you're at someone's house which is a good feeling.. the brisket sandwich had good flavor however it was in my opinion too tough could have simmered a little bit longer and there was more fat than what I desired, but other than that it was a good meal. The loaded mashed potatoes are awesome, full of flavor. And the Collard greens, haven't had good bowl of collard greens since I was a kid they were extremely good. There was a unique flavor about everything that my husband and I were trying to figure out LOL. Overall... this was a very good dining experience as it was our first time. Will definitely come again

Tried for first time me and my wife. Ordering at Kiosk pretty simple Catfish 7 out of 10 Good seasoning would have been higher if it was fresher Mac n cheese 9 out of 10 Greens 9 out of 10 Potato salad 7 out of 10 Yams 5 out of 10 Smothered chicken 9 out of 10 Strawberry crunch cake 9 out of 10 Customer service could have been better 5 out of 10. Little warm in location, but overall I’d give a 7 out of 10 and recommend trying food items they can cook👍🏾

This is insane, charge $8.00 more on the delivery apps! But in the restaurant it's 15.89. Don't know who you to get mad at the delv apps the owner or just everyone...always better to just pick up your order!

REALLY love their fried catfish! It’s a weakness of mine and not many places you can get it around here. So crispy and tender inside and spiced and salted so well. Great portion size too so don’t be too scared off by pricing. Had a bunch of their sides, too. Only thing I didn’t love was the collard greens, they are kind of sour and a different style than others I’ve had but maybe you’ll be into it! All else was good. Mac & cheese, fried okra, mashed potatoes, etc. Yum!

It was quiet and not much human interaction, but the food is amazing!!!! We had the catfish with the sides of mashed potatoes and gravy. We also had chicken tenders and fries. The mashed potatoes were homemade and the gravy was delicious. The fish portion was huge and seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend.

Horrible!! Didn't get greeted, had questions about food on the menu. The lady came from the back and said she work in the morning so she don't know. My husband got a 30$ steak meal. It was cooked too long probably explain the size and the texture. The fish was mushy and the chicken was under cooked. Somebody was really heavy handed when It came to the salt. All and all I wouldn't feed this to my dog. Zero stars what a waste of money.

The restaurant is clean, the wait for mediocre food is something else. I ordered catfish okra and corn. With red velvet cake as my desert. My okra was scooped with the same utensil as my husbands potato salad..big NoNo! I don’t like me food touching. It was warm, at best. The catfish was tasty. It’s hard to botch corn on the cob. My cake was hard on the edges and dry. My husband ordered rib tips, baked beans potato salad and peach cobbler. I took a pic of the peach cobbler desert. We both ordered strawberry lemonade, was told they were out of strawberry syrup. We had to change to wild berry lemonade. After a small wait we had our food. My husband didn’t want to check inside the restaurant (as I usually do on carry-out orders). He wanted to wait til we got to the car, then just did a quick peek and felt his was fine. I, on the other hand, was upset I had potato salad remnants in my warm orka. I wanted a refund immediately. This was a costly choice, I will not make again. Our total was well over $75 for two meals, drinks and desserts. As much as the cost, there should be separate containers for sides on a carry out order….First impressions…meh
