This place is probably really nice in the heat of summer. It sits right at the end of the pier on the wharf and most of the seating is on the patio. I imagine when the weather is nice, it is unbeatable. However, during the shoulder season between spring and summer, it is cold as.
We tried several things on the menu including the tuna tartare, white clam pizza, soup of the day, and the pork knuckle and I cannot say that I was impressed. The tartare's marinade was vaguely asian and did not really hit home for our party. The pork knuckle was a massive endeavor portion-wise, but in terms of flavor I found it very oily/greasy with minimal spices to kick it up in terms of taste. Interestingly enough, the pizza was the best item we had over the night, but I found the clams a bit fishy. Regardless, the crust and white sauce were executed really well and I think I would have enjoyed some other pizza order. On our night, there was live music which was nice to have to sweeten the atmosphere. Like most places in NZ, food comes slow so enjoy the view and your company.
