I was fully expecting to see the full vibe from the television series from a few years back. Alas, it was not to be. 😭 Irrespective, this is still an awesome bakery with delicious cakes and fun, quirky cookies. The full story of Charley's bakery is inscribed on the wall behind the counter and is a delight to read. I loved the quaint little old fashioned nick knacks littered about the place. The building itself is a visual delight to explore. Hats off to the word play on the signs.

Stopped by Charles Bakery in Cape Town, and it had a lively, busy atmosphere when I arrived. Even with the rush, the staff were friendly and ready to assist, which made the experience feel smooth and pleasant. The cupcakes and cookies were the highlights — colourful, creative, and full of playful designs clearly aimed at kids. They’re fun to look at and make great treats for little ones or themed parties. Overall, a cheerful spot for picking up something lighthearted and sweet, especially if you’re after kid-friendly baked goods.

I recently ordered a wicked chocolate cake and two personalised wicked chocolate cupcakes online from Charly's. The online ordering process was much quicker and easier than I expected, and I got a prompt email response back. They also confirmed receipt of payment and collection time, so I was kept informed each step of the way. There is parking right next to the bakery and one of their lovely ladies carried the cake and cupcakes to the car for me. I won't hesitate to order online from them again!!

Fun place to visit with their quirky cookies and cupcakes. The cake was light and delicious, coffees strong and overall a really fun banter with the staff who were super friendly. Great to be able to bring our kids from New Zealand to visit a Cape Town iconic cafe and bakery.

Charly’s Bakery went above and beyond with my order placed all the way from Dubai for my partner in Cape Town. I couldn’t be there in person, but they made the entire process effortless. The cake was absolute perfection – not only beautiful, but full of deliciousness – with the exact message I requested. A huge thank you to Alex, who personally arranged for the cake to be delivered to the restaurant in time for the birthday dinner. Fantastic company, incredible personal service – highly recommend!

I ordered a cake for my daughter's birthday. It's the first birthday I haven't been able to share with her. Charly's made the day special for her with a beautiful cake. She even got a candle to put in the cake! Wonderful service and stunning cake!

I don’t usually write reviews, but this bakery left me no choice 😩 This is the kind of bakery where you go, ‘Wow, I’ll just get one thing,’ but then you hear yourself say, ‘And that one… oh and that too…’ pointing to things like Oprah handing out cars. And then, next thing you know, you’re eating a slice of hummingbird cake in your car like a raccoon 🦝 (Don’t believe me?…check out the pictures below for proof 🔍💀) The truth is…Absolutely everything here tastes like it was baked by someone who had a personal vendetta against blandness. Everything on offer is truly Mucking Afazing. Everyone who is a part of creating this phenomenal space? Beyond helpful and kind 💙 Honestly, this bakery is criminally good and I highly recommend you visit. Just don’t blame me when you leave with half the shop 🤷🏽‍♀️

For a slice of cake is way to expensive (R50-R100) . ... I had a pie that was warmed up like 3 times and it was still cold so I ate it as is with silence. Cake is not to dry and not to stiff but also not that much of taste. Place looks absolute stunning, just the food/dessert that is the problem. Staff were kind but not professional with their communication and were abit rude when you tell them that the food is not cooked right.
