We stayed at Henry’s House for 2 nights during our honeymoon trip to Sicily. We wish we had stayed longer!
When we arrived we were greeted by Francesca. During our check in, she provided a map of Ortigia for us and highlighted a recommended walking route around the island that would allow us to visit all of the major sites. She showed us around the hotel and explained the history of the family that owned the building. She also provided lunch/dinner recommendations for us and was kind enough to make a reservation for us for dinner that evening at one of her recommended restaurants. If you are renting a car to drive to Ortigia, the hotel has a valet service that will pick up your car from the hotel and park it in a protected garage.
Our room was located above the breakfast terrace and had a sea view that was beautiful at every time of the day. The hotel is located at the tip of Ortigia, a very short walk from most of the pedestrian traffic and restaurants, which meant it was very quiet even during the evening. Our bathroom was a little small but overall the bedroom was spacious. AC, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, slippers, a minibar (with water, soda, and one beer) were provided in the room. Beach towels were available upon request.
Breakfast was provided every morning and included a variety of foods such as hard boiled eggs, breads, cheeses, jams, sandwiches, quiches, pastries, fruit, and yogurt. There is a staff member who takes your coffee order and delivers it to your table. You can eat inside, but we recommend eating out on the terrace which is covered overhead by grape vines and has a beautiful view of the sea.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Henry’s House and would recommend this place to couples or solo travelers looking for a quiet and charming place to stay on the island.
Thank you to the staff at Henry’s House for your hospitality!
