Henry's House (Syracuse, Sicily) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Aside from the name, if there’s anything at all English about Henry’s House it’s the sheer overstuffed abundance of its eclectic, charmingly mismatched décor. From its elevated location at the southern end of Ortigia, the island at the heart of Siracusa’s old town, this 19th-century villa takes in impressive views of the bay, and the dominant aesthetic is pure Baroque Sicily, with furnishings and tiles by local craftsmen. Occasional boutique-hotel gestures like L’Occitane bath products remind you that this is a professional operation, and while there’s no restaurant, there is an impressive daily breakfast service." - Tablet Hotels

Ahhh, what can I say about this place! The most beautiful setting and the most wonderful staff! We had room 103, small but with the most gorgeous views over the sea. Breakfast a delight and the staff simply can’t do enough for you. ||Francesca, Francesca, Francesca, Francesco and Alyssia were so nice to us with good comms in advance of our visit and lots of help with restaurant advice and ideas of things to do during our stay, can’t recommend enough.

This is a nice small hotel where the staff takes excellent care of you. Once upon a time, it was a large home that had been abandoned for fifty years. Then the current owners took ten years to restore it, furnished with all kinds of interesting antiquities. The rooms have everything you need, are clean and comfortable. There are many many sitting areas inside and out. We were 4 women traveling together, so we had lots of space to sit and visit. The location, right on the water and steps from the seaside promenade, was perfect. The breakfasts on the patio had so many different offerings each day, each one better than then next. My only complaint is that I stuffed myself and still wasn't able to taste half of them. I was going to ding them a star because my shower head had insufficient water pressure. But my friend mentioned it to Francisco, and he was upstairs within ten minutes with a new, perfectly operational shower head. Thank you for making our trip to Ortigia so enjoyable.

A wonderful stay at Henry's House, which is situated in a lovely spot overlooking the sea and with wonderful evening views of the sunset. The staff were all helpful, smiley and really went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. Next time we stay (and there will be a next time), we will opt for a room with a sea view rather than being street-side. The breakfast is a feast, with masses of choice and all excellent quality. Enjoying the first meal of day on the beautiful sun terrace is an absolute treat. Thank you so much.

We absolutely loved our stay at Henry’s House! The hotel is full of charm and character, with vintage touches and incredible views over the sea. The location on Ortigia truly couldn’t be better, tucked away just enough to feel peaceful, but close to everything. The staff was truly wonderful. So friendly, thoughtful, and attentive to every little detail. They made us feel completely at home from the moment we arrived. Breakfast on the terrace was a dream. Would 100% stay here again, it made our time in Ortigia unforgettable.

We had a wonderful time at Henry’s Hotel. The location is ideal - tucked away and quiet, yet just a short walk to the centre of Ortigia. Our room was spacious, spotless, and full of thoughtful details. The rooftop terrace was one of our favourite parts - perfect for an aperitivo with a sea breeze before heading out to dinner. Breakfast was fresh and well presented, with lovely local options. The staff were truly amazing - warm, helpful, and made us feel completely at ease throughout our stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Ortigia. We’ll definitely be back next year!

We stayed at Henry’s House for 2 nights during our honeymoon trip to Sicily. We wish we had stayed longer! When we arrived we were greeted by Francesca. During our check in, she provided a map of Ortigia for us and highlighted a recommended walking route around the island that would allow us to visit all of the major sites. She showed us around the hotel and explained the history of the family that owned the building. She also provided lunch/dinner recommendations for us and was kind enough to make a reservation for us for dinner that evening at one of her recommended restaurants. If you are renting a car to drive to Ortigia, the hotel has a valet service that will pick up your car from the hotel and park it in a protected garage. Our room was located above the breakfast terrace and had a sea view that was beautiful at every time of the day. The hotel is located at the tip of Ortigia, a very short walk from most of the pedestrian traffic and restaurants, which meant it was very quiet even during the evening. Our bathroom was a little small but overall the bedroom was spacious. AC, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, towels, slippers, a minibar (with water, soda, and one beer) were provided in the room. Beach towels were available upon request. Breakfast was provided every morning and included a variety of foods such as hard boiled eggs, breads, cheeses, jams, sandwiches, quiches, pastries, fruit, and yogurt. There is a staff member who takes your coffee order and delivers it to your table. You can eat inside, but we recommend eating out on the terrace which is covered overhead by grape vines and has a beautiful view of the sea. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Henry’s House and would recommend this place to couples or solo travelers looking for a quiet and charming place to stay on the island. Thank you to the staff at Henry’s House for your hospitality!

Pleasant staff. Welcomed with free glass of wine on a charming patio. Wonderful breakfast buffet on a balcony with a great view, and it had different local specialties each day. Bathroom was small and room was rather sparsely furnished. We were driving, and a valet collected our car, parked it some unknown location, and brought it back when we wanted. This is a place where you hang out in nice shared lounges not in your room.

Henry’s house is the perfect bijou getaway in Ortigia. The staff are so incredible, the breakfast was delicious and the private terrace and welcome drink set our trip off perfectly. The mini bar also has complimentary drinks which was brilliant after a day of walking around the island. If you are going to Ortigia please stay here you will not regret it.

Yelp
We're at Henry's House in Siracusa on he island of Sicily. Those planning a trip to Italy would be wise to include Sicily. This old city is wonderful an much cleaner than Naples. Henry's House has done a remarkable job in creating a five star hotel out of a picturesque rustic home. The many patios and decks allow you to watch magnificent sunsets over The Ionian Sea. The rooms are large and are filled with Sicilian decor. Nothing has been overlooked. Their breakfast is wonderful and can be enjoyed inside the breakfast room or on the patio. I give this place the highest rating.

Yelp
Hotel Henry's house has by far the best service I've received in any hotel anywhere. It's a beautiful, rustic boutique hotel with a front row view of the port of Siracusa. It's located on the southern tip of Ortigia island (the nicest area in all of Siracusa) and only a 30 second walk to the historic Castello Maniace. Everything on the island is within walking distance and the staff will help you find things to do and make reservations for you if need be. If you don't speak Italian it's not a problem, everyone here speaks good English. If you bring a car they will take care of parking for you no matter what time of the day or night. They also have a private terrace for guests only that has an epic westward view (sunsets) and you can eat, drink and chill here anytime of day or night (the canopy is covered with a mature grape vine). Breakfast is served every day until 10:30 and it is EPIC. DON't miss it. One day we overslept but they made us two big trays of breakfast to take out on the terrace just in case we were hungry when we woke up. Showers are great. AC works well. Most of the rooms have epic views. The prices are in the middle range between dumpy hotels and **** hotels in the area and WAY worth every penny.

Yelp
This hotel is worth every Euro. The staff are beyond excellent. We were greeted by Francisco, who set us up with a complimentary drink right after we checked in. Laura was also working the front desk and was incredibly helpful with giving us directions around Ortegia. Everyone at the Henry House spoke fluent English, and were incredibly nice to us. The room was spotless, and had an amazing view of the Mediterranean. The free breakfast every morning was probably the best breakfast meals I had in our two weeks in Sicily. I highly recommend anyone staying in Syracuse stay at the Henry House. The people at this hotel truly do care about their guests and the restaurants they recommended to us were fantastic. I can't wait to go back to Sicily and stay at this wonderful hotel again. Sincerely, Travis
