This Southeast Asian City Should Be Top of Your Culinary Travel List

"A nearby outgrowth of a popular informal curry-focused team, this branch emphasizes small-plate Thai dishes paired with a notably strong wine list, offering a slightly more polished complement to the original casual concept." - Chris Schalkx

Love this place. Love the fun casual vibes paired with good yummy Thai food. Thai food here might not be your typical Thai dish but they do capture the essence of Thai taste very well. A good place to come enjoy with friends. Customers here are mostly foreigner, I wish I could see more local faces here. Reservation highly recommended. Parking can be difficult, there are street parking and some public parking lot near by.

Had a dinner here with a group of ~10. Sadly we dined on a buddism holiday, so no alcohol allowed by the (new) law. 🔀 I have mixed emotions with foods. They are good, but not the ordinary Thai more like a mixture from different cuisines. Would not recom if you're looking for authentic Thai foods. ⛔️ Portion is quite small for Appetizer and Dessert. Nothing special with non-alcohol drinks. ✅ other than that all great. Vibe is good, ambience not too loud, lighting just enough. Would be great for a date. Worth the visit if you're looking for something new from normal Thai tastes.

A nice casual place that is actually quite fun. One can enjoy good food and music in a vibrant setting. The food was good, I would expected more from certain dishes and I personally like it a bit more comfortable but this is a fun place so understandable. It’s a preference kind of thing I guess. Overall it’s worth a visit though.

All dishes have a great taste! The atmosphere is good for chilling with friends. The staff knows their menu well and is able to make good recommendations during ordering

Delicious cuisine served in a very nice ambiance in anolace nicely designed. You can see the chefs prepare the dishes right in front of you when you sit by the counter. Great diversity of food at a very reasonable price for the quality served.

Dear Charmkrung, Regarding the points you mentioned: 1) If this is what you call “proper fine dining,” I’d love to know why guests need to run to the cashier to order while staff ignore raised hands. Also, charging 80 THB per person for so-called “free water” is certainly a creative concept. 2) We informed you well in advance that it was a birthday celebration—yet somehow celebration here means no photos, no conversation, and being tucked away in the corner. Ironically, other guests wished me happy birthday more warmly than your team did (with the exception of the kind waiter who helped with photos and the candle—thank you). 3) Small plates, overly salty dishes, and average food hardly justify your premium pricing. I spent money here, offered honest feedback, and in return received an arrogant reply. Truly a memorable experience — regarding your suggestion, I also hope you improve for the sake of your future guests. —————— UPDATE —————- I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with friends, but it turned out to be a disappointing experience. First, food portions were very small, the taste was just average, and most dishes were overly salty. Second, the service was even worse—staff seemed too busy to take care of us, and I had to look around just to find someone to help me order food and water. Every single bottle of water was charged separately (which is ridiculous), and on top of that, they added a 10% service fee. ☹️Expensive, poor service, and overall a bad experience. Definitely not coming back.

What a spot! They definitely know how to make tasty food here. Best to go in a group of at least 4pax for optimal menu tasting satisfaction. Featuring some of the stuff we ordered (I think we tried almost half the menu!). The steak, duck, porchetta and goat were all on point. (They do have seafood options as well, which we also ordered!) They also have a really decent wine list that features some nice natural wines too. Super chill environment where you can actually have decent conversations as well. Service was really attentive and friendly. Charmkrung, you guys have a good crew over there!

Hidden in the artsy streets of Talat Noi, Cham Krung delivers a fresh, creative twist on modern Thai dining. The vibe is industrial-cool yet cozy, making it perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxed date. The menu offers bold reinterpretations of Thai flavors, and we had the chance to sample several standouts. We started with แสร้งว่าหอยนางรม (fresh oysters in a vibrant herb salad), followed by the แกงคั่วปลาประจำวัน (daily fish curry), which was rich, aromatic, and deeply spiced. The หมูตั้งทอด (crispy fried pork) nailed the balance between crunch and tenderness, while one of the true highlights — the ฉูฉี่มันกุ้งซอสมะขาม (shrimp in tamarind sauce) — delivered a beautifully lingering sweet and tangy flavor. The cocktail game here is just as strong — we tried The Moms (a Negroni infused with chrysanthemum; 400 baht), Jasmine Fizz (350 baht), and a standout Smoked Corn Old-Fashioned (420 baht), which brought a smoky, earthy twist to the classic. Pricing is very reasonable for the quality, with most dishes ranging between 250–550 THB and cocktails between 350–450 THB. Cham Krung is a fantastic find for anyone looking to experience inventive Thai food, creative drinks, and an atmosphere that feels both stylish and welcoming. A must-visit if you’re exploring Bangkok’s new wave of dining spots.
