1.14.26- I tried something new! I did the ribeye tacos. No regrets. They were wonderful! I would get them again. I do prefer the nacho cheese burrito but that’s because I love queso 🤣 12.15.2025 - GET THE NACHO CHEESE BURRITO! Service is always good even when busy. The food comes out fast. The guacamole is perfection. I get the same thing every time but when I’m with others, they get other things like the charros special or shrimp tacos and enjoy that quite a bit! I haven’t heard of people not liking their food here.

Its always a great time when you are there. The food comes out fast and delicious 🌮 🌯 . The owners are so hospitable and happy to help you find what ulyou want to enjoy 😉.

Our waitress was full blown Mexican , nothing wrong with that but we couldn’t communicate she didn’t speak English or know the menu, then she got her floor manager to help and all I wanted was any meat soft tortilla with baked cheese on top, I would think Mexican restaurants serve such thing , right? is it enchiladas ? At the end I got a burrito with queso sauce no cheese baked on top under salamander , how hard is that? 🙄😳 so I was very disappointed! My bf had steak fajitas and he was happy qnd fresh guacamole 🥑 was delicious ! My margarita reposado was huge and yummy with nice grilled pineapple garnish and holy moly spicy grill jalapeño also their flight for $22 looks amazing 4-4oz drinks I’d like to try that next time but please when I ask for a dish with soft tortilla and baked browned cheese on top, make it and don’t give me a burrito like come on , big disappointment there , the plus is they have everything ready to go so your food comes out within 5 min no joke ! Maybe browning my Tex mex cheese would take longer than 5 min so they don’t make these dishes , who knows 🤷‍♀️ Ole ! 🇲🇽

Had the street taco flight… chicken, shrimp, ribeye. Very, very good. They were a little too saucy… Next time I will ask for the sauce in the side or lite sauce. Hard to beat fresh guac. Service was great. Will add some pics later

Absolutely fantastic experience! We came in with a large group, and the staff handled everything flawlessly. The food was delicious from start to finish — fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Every dish came out in a timely manner, even with our bigger party. The service was just as impressive. The team was friendly, attentive, and made us all feel very welcome. What really stood out was how clean and well-organized the restaurant was. The staff was constantly cleaning, organizing, and keeping the place looking great. It’s clear they take pride in their work and truly care about their customers’ experience. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

While not spicy, there was more spice than I expected this far north! Came on a Tuesday night for dinner while passing through on a business trip. Seated immediately at the bar and presented with complimentary chips+salsa. I opted to try their version of favorites from my hometown place-notably, a Chorizo bean dip, and Steak “Street Tacos” (both pictured), sided with a Blue Moon. 🍺 Everything was amazing. This place knows their sauces and seasonings. Big portions, and it all arrived at perfect temperature. If I were to nitpick, the steak in the tacos was a little rubbery. It was good, but it was more of an ingredient than the feature protein. With the rest of the flavors of the taco, this screamed for blackened tips. Or, maybe go the other way, with a more rare & juicy grill. I was only here for a brief business trip. If business brings me back, I’d be willing to return!

Delicious authentic flavors. Refried beans were great. Fajita burrito was fantastic. Cant wait to try more!

Absolutely 5 stars! This place delivered on every level—from the fresh guacamole cart made right at the table to the perfectly mixed Moscow mule. I had the el pastor street tacos, and they were bursting with flavor—the sweet pineapple, fresh cilantro, and a creamy, house-made guacamole-style sauce tied it all together beautifully. The atmosphere was just right—lively but not overwhelming—and everything was spotless, including the bathrooms. It’s rare to find a place that nails flavor, service, and setting, but this one did. Can’t wait to come back!

Even though it was awhile ago that we ate there, I still remember how they made the guacamole from scratch at your table. Very nice feature. The main entree I ordered was the shredded beef enchilada. It was so yummy.

Angy waited on us tonight. The guacamole is made table side on a rolling table cart. We ordered the pollo chipotle, chicken flautas, table side guacamole. $46.12 The guacamole is good, garlic, lemon, jalapeños, pico and cilantro. It's creamy and yummy. The hot salsa is just pure heat, but it's good with the house salsa mixed. The pollo chipotle comes in this creamy chipotle sauce, it's good. Maybe needed one more tortilla for it, but ate the rest after we shared 3 tacos of the meat separately. The flautas are thin, but nice and crispy. Their refried beans are good as well.

Overall, decent Mexican food in Grand Forks. The tableside guacamole is unique. We were able to share a single dinner to feed both of us. Price point is is good and overall the quality of food is pretty good as well. I certainly would come back again.

We came at 7pm on a Thursday night. When we arrived there was plenty of parking in front of the building. We went in and were greeted and seated immediately. They were busy, but there was no wait. We were met by the table side guacamole lady. She quickly made us guacamole and our waitress brought us chips and salsa. We ordered the uno combo plate and tres combo plate. The food was nothing special, but it was very good, and just what we were looking for. All of the food was very fresh and the beverage was delicious. This is a cute spot with a ton of decor and a beautiful wall art for the last supper. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for Mexican food. Everything from the service to the food was wonderful I'd absolutely come back!

10/10 would eat here again. Highlights included (unlimited) warm chips & salsa waiting for us on the table when we sat down and the best dang queso I've ever had! You know it's a good sign when the queso is thick and clings to the chip when you dunk it. We also really enjoyed the tableside guacamole cart that rolled up once we were settled in to make custom fresh guac, so if there are picky eaters in the group they can easily request any of the ingredients to be omitted. Don't skip the house margarita!! It was delicious, perfectly balanced flavor between the lime and tequila. Also tried the margarita flight, which was fun. For food we got the quesabirria, which was ok - would maybe remove half a star for that, not the most tender meat I've had in birria before. The fajitas for 2 easily fed three people with leftovers to spare - an entire meal the next day! We really loved the churros board for dessert, it was a nice touch that they brought ice cream for each adult at the table. The restaurant itself is a nice space, really liked the beautiful metal agave sculptures they had as light fixtures. We definitely took a picture with the mariachi band sculpture in the parking lot. Ample parking in the lot next to the restaurant and very family friendly - our group included a 3 week old infant. They had a baby carrier stand with a wide net on top that perfectly held the baby's car seat at the end of the table.

Amazing fastest device best food! And order comes super fast! If you ever come definitely stop by and grab a bite to eat

My family and I were seated in a reasonable amount of time on a busy night, ordered promptly, and we even got our drinks and food quickly as well. The open aspect to the kitchen was charming, everything looked quite clean, and tableside guacamole making was a nice touch that was appreciated by my party. The food was remarkably good! Our meals came with lovely, soft tortillas, nicely seasoned meat, great queso, and even the beans and rice that I often find to be afterthoughts when getting Mexican food we found to be great on their own! Staff was friendly, plentiful, and checked on us just often enough. The music was sometimes a bit loud, but it was a busy night. I would say overall that the prices would prevent me from eating here every week, but the food is absolutely worth it from what we tried. ¡Gracias para la comida!

Food is mediocre at best. Atmosphere is fun and the wait staff was friendly. The prices were comparable to other like restaurants.

I was told this place was "good for North Dakota" . That's the best description I've ever heard, everyone hit the nail right on the head with that, and I agree because this and Casa's was the oddest chicken fajita I've ever had. Definitely not worth $18, I don't think I've ever paid $18 for chicken fajita either, but I guess when you're considered the best Mexican restaurant in this little town, you have the luxury or price gouging #supply and demand. The guac was really good, but $11? Come on, let's be serious. The place was recommended. I came, I saw, and I won't be back .

We have been there twice. The first time was the wife and I. the chips are awesome. You can order hot sauce, but it cost you two dollars. The regular sauce is pretty good. We split the walleye tacos. It was plenty for the both of us, but it was a bit bland. It might have been better if the walleye was blackened. the atmosphere was very cute. It felt like a typical Mexican bar although a bit more upscale. our service was a wonderful lady very attentive and kind. She went over the menu with us . Oh Yes how could I forget she also went over the different margaritas, They have the Great margaritas, so overall dining experience was very positive. I would give it a five. The next time we came. There were nine of us. This time we had a guy for our server. He was pretty grouchy. Didn't answer any questions when one of our sisters had questions about the taco salad and the fajita salad, He did not fill up or water glasses and acted like he wished he was someplace else. The wife and I split the standard burrito. It was very good and enough for both of us. One of the sisters got the salad she ate about half of it and said it was pretty bad, after all was done a few of us went to the bar while the rest of gang went home. The bartender was awesome, friendly funny I wish we had her to begin with. the dude that waited on us needs to find another job. I would have given this place a higher rating if it were not for our experience with the poor service on our second visit

Plentiful parking Good area Attractive inside and out Got seated immediately at 6pm on a Saturday night Chips and salsa came promptly. Bit better than average Queso Fundito was very very good. Thick cheese with even thicker on the bottom. Good chorizo. Came with 3 flour tortillas as well Guacamole cart roaming around. Looked fresh Food was very fast, good presentation Good beans and rice. Ground beef chimi was very good and I like having the included queso for it Good friendly prompt service Well above average. Very good place Definitely recommend Prices are reasonable too

My wife and I stopped in for Saturday supper with no reservations and got seated right away. Restaurant is exceptionally clean. Wait staff, especially Angelica, our waitress, are very attentive. She brought out the usual chips and salsa, which were warm with mildly tangy salsa. Took our orders, I had the beef enchilada/taco combination. My wife had the tamale dinner. Food came our quickly. Presentation and size of portions were outstanding. Angelica was very attentive with refills of our iced teas. The food was very tasty. Everything was well worth the $40, and change. Definitely a return to restaurant.

We came here to celebrate my son-in-laws birthday. We started out with margaritas and chips with guacamole. I always like when the ladies come around and make it right there in front of you. I always feel like someone's mom is making it for us. It makes me smile. Hubs and I had a dinner for two that included two of everything. Two of the thinnest sliced pork chops, two shrimp skewers, steak, and chicken to share. Everything was so good. I really enjoyed the pork chop and the steak, they were my favorite It was a nice place to have dinner. The fastest service ever. Too fast in my opinion. We waited a half hour to get in...I don't mind that but I felt rushed out. I think we got seated and we were out of there within an hour. If I'm going to go out to dinner at a nice place (and spend $$$) I want to stay for a bit and enjoy the restaurant. Enjoy the food and the company. Our waitress was nice enough but not super personable. No fun banter with the guests. Food is good but rushed...so I took a star for that.

The food is great! Love the sauce for the burritos !! The restaurant is in a newer building, and decorated great! Cool statues outside. The bar looks cool & inviting! They have a lady that walks around with a cart to make fresh guacamole, if requested! Usually, you don't have to wait long for your food to come out! However, it can be a long wait to get seated, depending on the time of day you go!

We had the table side Guacamole and it was so good. I had the fajitas chicken quesadilla.. super fresh and loaded with onions, peppers, and chicken .. it was so amazing. We have been to CHARRAS before and they never disappoint.

This is your typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. the ambience is there, but the food is less than stellar. It all tasted the same except for the cheese sauce that had a little bit of a jalapeño pepper taste. Service was OK, but they didn't bring me what I ordered exactly. For the price I don't think it's worth it.

Ay Yi Yi!! OUTSTANDING traditional Mexican fare. I am blown away by the attentiveness of our server Miguel and the quality of the food. Preparation and presentation are far beyond expectations although the prices are on the higher side for food (expect to pay 2x more than normal) BUT your meal is also 2x better than elsewhere! We ordered the Cazuela dinner for two and it did not disappoint!! Every single item was well seasoned and cooked to perfection and is served with side dish of beans, rice and pico. Everything was fresh, tasty and super satisfying. I was enormously pleased to see that they didn't use cheddar cheese in their dishes nor smothered their food in canned enchilada sauce. Their churros are fresh and tasty and delightfully crisp without being too sweet. I was a little surprised that the skinny margarita came over loaded with ice and had crushed pineapple pieces in it as well as a topper of grilled pineapple and a slice of jalapeño. Very pretty. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to eat traditionally prepared Mexican food.

This place was good for a while, then, I wanted some jalapeños off the griddle "like I always get" this child tells me we've never done that, yes you have. I would fire her immediately!!!!! Service is of high importance

So we went here based on the reviews and we were happy. Walked in and it was nice and clean we got seated right away our waiter was Mike and he was super attentive. The chips and salsa did NOT disappoint at all neither did the food!! I highly recommend this place!!!

Wow! I was not expecting this great of Mexican cuisine in North Dakota! We normally don't eat at Mexican restaurants outside of TX while working however, after our hotel front desk recommended it, we had to try it out, and I am so glad we did!! I had the chicken Chimichunga and also ordered the fresh guacamole which they make right at your table! I haven't had this good of guac since vacation in Mexico! The chimichanga was stuffed full of seasoned shredded chicken covered in a delicious queso with a side of rice and refried beans as well as pico de gallo. The meals only took minutes to be delivered to our table after ordering. I will definitely be returning to try another item on their menu the next time I'm in Grand Forks. Special shout out to Jonny for being a great server!!

I love this PLACE!!! Table side guacamole? Yes! Delicious yummy food? Yes!!! Awesome and really friendly servers? SIIII! lol I mean this place is delicious! My family enjoys coming here and we always treated well!

Good service guacamole was incredible. Unfortunately, the entrée came out cold in the center, which is why they didn't give them five but they promptly returned it. Got a heat it up and I was satisfied.

Highly recommend getting the fresh made guacamole!!! They make it right at the table for you and it's amazing.

Been to a Charra's a number of times now while working out of town; here is what to expect as I see it: Positives: 1. Great margaritas and tequila selection. 2. Food comes out quickly. 3.Guacamole (when they show up at your table) is great. Negatives: 1. Rude, confrontational servers who will become argumentative if you question an unsolicited charge on your bill. 2. Charges on your bill (such as for asking for extra salsa for your table, or if the server brings the wrong tortilla and then charges you for correcting their mistake). 3. Although the guacamole is great, they may or may not come by your table. 4. Management (if you want to call it that) is not interested in guest feedback or addressing concerns. Overall, not a bad place but the rude and at times disrespectful service is not worth the hassle. Unfortunately there are not many options in Grand Forks, so whereas this kind of customer service would be death sentences in a medium-sized metropolitan area, it is accepted here. My recommendation is avoid if you can.

Atmosphere was great. Service was outstanding. Food was very very good. Really enjoyed their big daiquiri. Would recommend this place with no reservations.

Exceptionally good dinner tonight. Lots of light and charm. But the best part is awesome staff! Savannah gave me a great suggestion for dinner (enchiladas suizas with carnitas pork) and I was thrilled with it. Never have I had such an excellent dinner so quickly and still hot throughout the meal! What a winner for Grand Forks!

I went there for lunch and I really enjoyed the chips and salsa and the fresh guacamole. The service was excellent and the price was affordable

The fresh guacamole is a must!!!! The staff is very friendly and it's a great ambiance for family, happy hour with colleagues, and just a solo dinner at the bar. I ordered the enchiladas with the cheese sauce and it was great! This was my second experience eating at Charras, and I was satisfied compared to my first.

In an area that lacks a culinary identity, the imported flavors of this restaurant are to die for. I'd waste your time writing anymore. Just Go Eat Here, trust me.

This was a pleasant surprise! I have been let down by the majority of Mexican restaurants who claim to be authentic but they aren't. This place was amazing. We arrived right as they were opening and there was already a line forming. The staff was kind and courteous. Food was served super quick! The only let down was the super burrito- I'm not sure why I had peas mixed in with the meat....it was weird. Will be ordering the street tacos from here on out!!!

You must visit this place. Authentic, Delicious, Fresh, and inviting and smells wonderful! Stopped by here after work and, after being seated, was surprised by a lady who approached my seat at the bar to make me fresh guac! Never been somewhere that did that. And the tortilla chips are nice and warm, ready for the salsa/guac. (caution, there's a charge for Guac, but WORTH IT) My food came out fast and it was perfectly prepared. I inspected the dishes of those around me and got a desire to try them all! There are incredible fajitas and other dishes that when brought for other customers made me jealous. I'll be back to try those other wonderfully plated, steaming hot dishes. I'm latino mix, please believe me when I tell you that this is the best mexican food in Grand Forks. Next time i'm gonna have some añejo tequila; their drink menu is impressive! There's much prettier food than what I got but you'd be remiss to not head here and try them out.

Right from the doorway this place is top drawer and perfect! The table side guacamole is perfection and you can add or leave out ingredients. Tinga Flauntas with beans, rice, pico was fresh and wonderful. Flauta chicken quesadilla with pico plate was fantastic. Let's go back to the guac, I want this every week! We did not deep dive into the drink menu but you should! The fresh made churros are a feast served with hot chocolate, again, save room or come for dessert one day. This is a great addition to GF.

By far the best Mexican & seafood in grand forks! This is definitely my go to place here! Soooo good!

Highly recommend Charras for their Mexican cuisine. We had their Chori Pollo which was delicious. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. The fresh guacamole made to order was fantastic and I liked being able to chose the ingredients and what to go heavy on or leave out. Robust tequila selection but we stayed with Pacifico beer on tap.

Food was fresh and tasty. Would love to go and try more of their food. The service was good and fast with requests. The restaurant was clean and bright with many colors and welcoming.

First, while visiting Grand Forks during a snow storm and white-knuckling it after a game....this place...GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD! I had a chicken burrito and an order of guacamole. Delicious! When I get sent out here for work again, I'm stopping by to see Rudy and the crew of AMAZING people in -20 degree weather! Did I mention that Rudy took my order 15 mins prior to closing? Or that it took me all 15 mins to driving 2.3 miles on ice? Yeah! They waited and happily provided me with good food!

As soon as I walked in they sat me down and gave me a big bowl of chips (really wonderful and warm and crispy that's made fresh in house in the dining area) w a flask of salsa (not spicy thank goodness bc I hate very spicy anything bc I'm suffering and can't enjoy the food but it was just right). It's wonderful when you are starving after a long day of work. The margaritas as huge here and the glasses are beautiful. The cups are also beautiful for just even my hot water I asked for. The staff are all friendly and nice and talk with you just because they seem to like people which is very awesome. If the staff aren't happy it's not a place I want to eat at. They have horchata here too! It's a rice drink and it's so good and different flavors. There are vegetarian options as most Mexican food allows for and they had a specifically vegetarian dish that you can make as a fajita or burrito or quesadilla or other ways of having vegetables. They also have a fresh guacamole station person who comes around to make fresh guacamole at your table for an extra fee of $11 and you can have it with your meal or your chips. You can add anything from the cart to your guacamole that you want so it's tailored to your liking. The fajitas I ordered came so fast I didn't even wait for my meal after ordering it. I was so amazed they worked like NYC style...asap. No time wasted if you want to eat right away. I think it was not more than 7 min after I ordered it that I got my fajitas. It came with rice, sliced avocado, beans, and pico de gallo (again perfectly mild and not spicy bc that kills the taste for me so it was perfect), and also 3 corn or flour tortillas warmed up and placed in the the tortillas container to stay warm. My waiter Feyo asked me how I was doing 9 times during my dinner. Just awesome. That's a record for me in my entire life of dining! So Amazed at how much attention he gave me while busy with all his other customers. Shout out to Franklin who was so sweet and friendly and talked w me while I ate at the bar and taught me some things about surviving North Dakota cold in -30 degrees. Just a great atmosphere to eat and enjoy watching TV or sports at while you enjoy Mexican food. BTW the tap water was great too bc they put a fresh slice of seedless cucumber in a tall and huge clean glass and it was so refreshing. I ate the cucumber slice at the end because it was inviting! Most places never think to add cucumbers to water ... hotels maybe but not a restaurant. The decor is beautiful. The tables are easy to clean and updated. The bathroom was clean and pretty. And the icing on the cake! The pay process is so fast w a personal card hand held biller the waiter brings to you and all you do is tap your card! No waiting for paper receipts...no paper wasted...all green...and all done in 3 seconds. Plus, the tip guide is presented to you on the handheld device so no need to calculate.

The service was good but I was disappointed with my meal. I ordered the street tacos and my husband had a special burrito. He said it was ok, nothing special. We did like the chips and salsa. The restaurant was clean.

We were staying at the hotel next-door. We decided to walk over and have some Mexican food. After we were seated, our server showed up right away and the service was great. I really liked the homemade guacamole that was made at your table. It is probably the best guacamole I've had in ages. I had chicken tacos and they were so loaded down that I could hardly eat all of them. I ordered a drink that wasn't on their menu and they still made it for me. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. My wife had the walleye salad and she just loved the fish and salad was great also. This was an excellent place for dinner. Highly recommend it

Table-side guac is a must. Food and service are great. Visited now a second time from out of town. Will definitely be a stop next time I'm in town.

We had to wait a while for a table- understandable we came at 7 right at the end of the dinner rush. Once we sat down, we were quickly greeted by our server Jayden. She was super nice and let us know about all of the specials of the day without us having to ask. I originally ordered the strawberry margarita and she recommended the flight which is pretty pricy at $19 but it's a fun thing to order. Our drinks came out and right after our food. We were shocked at how quick the food came out. Great service and friendly staff, just a little pricy

This restaurant is very popular, because of its great food. It's busy every day of the week. So, if you are planning on eating here, expect about a half-hour wait. I've eaten here a few times now. They have a nice selection of food and have daily specials too.The food has always been very tasty. And the staff gets the food to you very quickly too. Their margaritas are amazingly good. The last time I was there, I wanted to have some cheesecake for dessert. José suggested a Mexican dessert called "Fran." I decided to try the Fran. It was incredibly delicious. Anyone that's from out of town should seriously consider eating here.

I tried Charras for the first time with a bunch of friends, and it was such a treat, bringing authentic Mexican food to GF with finesse. The food was flavorful and really highlighted the beauty of Mexican food. I loved how they added some theatre to their food as well preparing the Mexican hot chocolate in front of you in the traditional way. We had such a blast and the food was incredible. We would happily return any day of the week.
