We celebrated our anniversary brunch at Charred Oak and it was such a wonderful experience. Camille was our server and she was amazing. She was warm, attentive, and truly made the morning feel special for us. The blueberry bourbon smash was delicious and refreshing with the perfect balance of sweetness and smooth bourbon flavor. The shrimp and grits were outstanding. Creamy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. It was the perfect spot to celebrate. Great food, great service, and such a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

Charred Oak has officially earned a spot on my must-return list. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm, upscale, and inviting. The service was top-tier — attentive without being overbearing, and you can tell the staff truly cares about making the experience special. The food? Amazing. Every dish came out seasoned perfectly, cooked with care, and full of flavor. You can really taste the quality in everything they serve. The drinks were just as impressive — smooth, balanced, and crafted like they know what they’re doing behind that bar. Whether you’re going for a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself, Charred Oak is 100% worth it. Columbus needed a spot like this, and they delivered. Highly recommend!

I had dinner at Charred Oak this past Saturday. The good: parking was easy, we didn’t have to wait for a table, and the atmosphere was good. Our server was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and was blown away - they were quite literally the best shrimp and grits I’ve had. The grits were oh-so-creamy. The shrimp, Andouille sausage, and crawfish were cooked to perfection and were seasoned perfectly- it has good creole kick to them without overpowering the taste of the seafood/sausage. The bad: My wife unfortunately can’t eat many foods at the moment and ordered the chicken tenders and fries. The tenders were subpar - rubbery with over done batter.

We both had ribeyes. I added the crab and she added the grilled shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly and were amazing. I had the mac and cheese and she had the mashed potatoes. Both sides were seasoned perfectly. We tried the Philly steak egg rolls for our appetizer and they were really good. Good flavor and plenty of steak and cheese. Service was quick, polite, and prompt. Good atmosphere.

Omg ABBY truly amazing!!! Superb energy and personality! Great recommendations even while busy she was very attentive to our group! I wish I could give her 10 stars ⭐️ coming again soon for the cobbler and meatloaf per her recommendation!

As we walked in, we were greeted with a hello and beautiful smile. Camillewas our server, she was excellent, very patience, warm, and very attentive. I got the meatloaf, loaded mash potatoes, side salad, everything was good.

Loved celebrating my birthday at Charred Oak on 11/12! Camille was an excellent waiter and server. Our food was excellent from the appetizer to the peach cobbler for dessert. Thank you again Camille for an excellent experience. We’ll be back soon.

Charred Oak is definitely a favorite with an amazing staff to match. I strongly encourage the TG’s (Smoked) Old Fashioned and the Bourbon Cream Espresso Martini. Camille served as my bartender and ensured everyone at her bar was well taken care of! S/O to this restaurant for being a hidden gem in Columbus! Wait times are normal and the drinks will have you ready for another before you know it! 9.5/10 if you pair a steak with a TG’s Old Fashioned! I will always come back!!!

The food was great! I tried the NY Strip and it was cooked to perfection. Seasoned very well, I didn't need steak sauce. The squash casserole 10/10. The bourbon glazed salmon was good. Fried green tomatoes were thick af although seasoned well it brings it down to 7/10. Collard Greens were sweet yet vinegary. Could use some hot sauce. The black eyed peas were yummy. I also got the Cajun shrimp and grits. 10/10 as well. The peach cobbler was basically a cake. It was still delicious (since I like cake) but I was expecting more peaches and more c cobbler. The waiter needs a raise. He was our host and waiter, not just for us but the entire restaurant. Yet he was still very nice and attentive. We didn't need for anything. I forgot his name but he is very tatted. The ambiance was cool and cozy. There was a larger party when we visited that was loud but not bothersome. Basically the place was poppin lol

BEWARE... READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE MENU BEFORE YOU GO. We won't be going back. Food was ok, but I'm having a hard time supporting a restaurant with these business practices. #1) Prices are CASH prices (says it on the bottom of the menu) ... we noticed it and asked what the surcharge was. Both of the wait staff said there is a 4% up charge for using either a CREDIT Card or DEBIT Card. Yes, we asked both because they didn't know how much the surcharge was and this is the first time I ever heard of a surcharge for using a debit card (with the Visa Logo) let alone a menu anywhere saying prices are cash prices. #2). There is a $10 surcharge to share a plate (says it on the Menu). It didn't impact us but, never have I seen this. #3). All food and Beverage sales are final (says it on the menu). We didn't need/want to return anything but this is the first time I have ever seen a restaurant take this stance. I'm not telling anyone not to go there, just know the fine print before you do.

Fantastic! Husband and I were just passing through Columbus and stumbled across here and we were SO happy with our experience! The drinks were fantastic, we ordered the Peach Palmer and the Bramble Para Amigos (highly recommend the peach palmer is was delicious.) Food was awesome! Ordered the chicken Florentine and the lemon pepper chicken and both were perfect! Service was great as well. Little loud inside but outside patio was perfect little paradise. Our waitress, Ashley was awesome! 10/10 would recommend! (Bonus it's in the cutest little neighborhood!)

Went for their brunch. Nothing unusual and food was bland. Service was excellent and the place seemed clean

First time visit it won't be my last. A cute restaurant in a very stylish neighborhood in Columbus. We were a group of 6, were immediately seated and told about the specials. As a bourbon based restaurant, it was beautifully decorated with oak barrels. I had the ny strip with mashed potatoes and added mushrooms and onions. I was a bit taken aback that they used red onions but I just removed them. The old fashioned was great and they readily substituted for my bourbon of choice. I would surely visit again.

Th outside and inside of the restaurant is really nice and quaint. The service was great, your drink was always fresh. We were thinking it may be a hidden gem but the food was mediocre. My steak was rare and tasty and so was the meatloaf but not what we were expecting with the burgers. I am not saying it's not worth a try but just don't expect it to be gourmet style. We are again here visiting my son and he wanted to try this place for a while. Four people, one beer and 3 soft drinks, 2 burgers a steak and meatloaf and the bill was over $100. Not bad but not worth it for 2 burgers.

I found Charred Oak when I was online looking for a good burger. And, there are several options on their menu. As it happens, I opted for the Shrimp and Grits instead. Really some of the better made shrimp and grits I've had in Columbus. My server was very attentive. I sat at the bar and just had a relaxed lunch with an ale from Texas. I imagine it is more packed in the evenings when people are home from work, as it looks to be apart of a quaint residential community. I'll definitely go back to try the Smoked Salmon Dip and the Smoked Duck Salad!

I sat at bar, like always, and had pleasure to meet Gin. No, not the liquor. She is actually the bartender. Gin is great. Her recommendations were really great and I would respect those if you are here. Charred Oak is a very charming place and I highly recommend it. I hope you experience Gin. She is great.

My three guest and myself are all senior citizens. This was my third visit to Charred Oak Kitchen & Bar, I had never experienced a problem until last night 8/17 with my supposedly 14oz Ribeye steak order. We brung the issue to the Only management on duty (Kitchen Mgr) attention, my steak was possibly 7oz at best because it was over 50% blubber fat, being a senior I suffer from multiple illnesses to include high cholesterol blood pressure and diabetes. I asked to have either another steak or a 50% discount on this order only not any refund. I was told all of their steaks come in fatty like this and unfortunately there isn't anything to be done because all sales food or drinks within Charred Oaks are final. (Listed at the very bottom of the menu. I disagree with this because our cocktails were made incorrectly and they remade them (Yet all sales are supposed to be final) we were told Only the owners could take care of any issues but also said they can't be reached at said time. To add insult to injury the menu states 36.00 for the Ribeye yet I was charged 37.44 without cause. We previously highly recommended this establishment to are couple friends who came with us to dine this evening and to have this poor food product prepared was a disgrace. The four of us will never eat there again because they obviously don't have quality concerns for any of their customers with individual issues and or concerns. Please see the 7oz of fat in pictures.

In general, I enjoyed my experience: food, atmosphere, and staff. However, as with everything else, the cost seemed significant in difference from a July 2025 visit. It is to the point that the cost outweighs the food and experience. It went from being a go-to location for special occasions/brunch with the sisters, to a strong "probably not" due to the imbalance with the cost.

We came here for a birthday party hearing the food was good and that is true the food was good but there were a lot of down falls. We first ordered drinks and they were out of martini glasses and they put them in glasses and as a bartender I knew they were under poured.... And not strong as a martini. The salad was brown. The chicken Alfredo was good but made me made when I said my friend wanted some and they told me they would charge me $10 for that... so if you want to split or share some food don't let them know you'll have an extra $$ on your bill! Over all service wasn't amazing and the ambiance wasn't what i expected for the price of the food. Definitely could use some improvement on the menu/service aspect.

Food was mixed. I had a New York strip; the texture of it was very coarse and not super flavorful. It was also far too gristly for my liking. The fries were really good though. Service was really bad: extremely slow, despite not many people dining. It was also pretty expensive.

The shrimp and grits might be the best in town and the service certainly is! The ambiance is cool and the outdoor seating is plentiful and fantastic overlooking the lawn of Old Town.

Amazing!! The smoked duck salad was fresh and hearty offering some of the most moist duck I've ever had. The sweet undertones of the pears pair perfectly with the bourbon vinaigrette. You will NOT be disappointed getting this. Try this place out, it's epic!

It's kind of expensive and it's a hot dog. If you don't have any hang ups about that? It's great. Tasty dog. Okay to good ambience. I guess they pressure wash hot dogs on the sidewalk? That's neat to see if you like that kind of thing. Give it a try!

The food here isn't very good. My husband & I ordered fried green tomatoes to start, both of us ordered different burgers. The fried green tomatoes are frozen, by the waitress' own admission. Not sure if the burgers are also frozen, but they sure tasted like it. Prices are too high, especially for frozen food. The service wasn't great, pretty slow...& this was at a slow time in the day, with just few other patrons. Won't be back. Response to the owner: Not a fabricated review. I would be happy to discuss this further with you.

Ambiance is on point, great choices in drinks. The meal I ordered was quite satisfying. Completely enjoying dining experience.

Ridiculous wait time was told they don't take reservations for parties of 5 and it would be a 45 minute wait waited over an hour. Poorly staffed and highly unprofessional

Ashley (hopefully I spelled her name right since there's various spellings I'll just spell her name differently each time) Collards and the remaining Shrimp and Grits. I came here after work on a Sunday and it was the breath of fresh air I needed. Ashlee was pleasant as you see her smile, she greeted me with a smile. I already knew what I wanted, so things came together very quickly. The food was savory, hot in heat (I hate getting cold food) and flavorful.

The best collard greens I have ever had. Smokey, tangy goodness. My steak was perfectly cooked. Would I recommend Charred Oak to friends and family...why yes, I would!

I am a first time local visitor here and I must say, I truly enjoyed myself. I visited on a Tuesday afternoon around 3 pm with one other individual and we practically had the place to ourselves. Our bartender Nicole was amazing and she, as well as Tim, provided some stellar recommendations. The environment is definitely chic and a place for both men and women. No, there isn't a gender neutral restroom. However, there is an touch-less faucet in the restroom as well as a trashcan pedal. There is adequate seating indoors as well as outdoors. The food and drinks were quite delicious. The collards were on the sweet side and my friend still ate them without the hot sauce pictured. We plan on visiting again for dinner. The to-go container I received was styrofoam. Try it out for yourself : )

The restaurant is a small, nice, clean, and the staff was friendly right when you walk in the door. If you are a whiskey/Bourbon drinker you will be pleased with the bar selection. I ordered the seafood pasta which was great once you mix the seafood in with the noodles. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits. We realized the restaurant uses the same seafood mixture in both dishes. The mixture included shrimp, crawfish, and sausage. Over all, the food was great the service was even better. My paper plane martini was great as well. We will definitely be back and I recommend you give them a try also.

I've been to this restaurant multiple times and I've never had an issue until today. Before I go into this review, I also never have an issue tipping. I always tip 15-20%, but on my own. So today, I ate my meal and enjoyed a few drinks. Always a good vibe, good setting and good service. Absolutely zero issues. I ask the young lady waiting my table for the check. She politely brings back the payment device and tips herself 20%. Mins you this wasn't a large party, just me and one other person. But.... I don't think that's professional or the right answer. That gesture rubbed me the wrong way and was very unprofessional.

If you like good bourbon this is your place! Even at their highest price point they are very reasonable. (Their $75 whistle pig is served for $125 at Tavola on Sea Island) The food was all great. We had the Rick House fries- absolutely delicious. We had the special smoked Gouda and lobster Mac, the meatloaf, and Caesar salad. The Mac was absolutely creamy and delicious just as it should be. The meatloaf was a hardy portion and not as sweet as expected from some of the reviews. One of our guests had the Caesar salad and said it was delicious. I can only attest to it being a nice sized dinner salad. As other reviews have stated- definitely get the peach cobbler! The 4 of us shared one as a nice ending to a wonderful meal. Service- I feel awful that I don't remember her name. She was sweet, efficient, and overall a pleasure.

Selection and quality are superb! Great spot for a casual night out, or for that special day...You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

I would almost take a star off for the service. There were at least 5 dining room servers and 3 bar servers but overall from what I saw they were not super attentive to the 4 tables with diners. We got one drink refilled but I never got more water. No offer of dessert, so I am presuming that our server might be new to the gig. The food was very good. We are on a mission to try Shrimp and Grits everywhere we can, and this was very tasty. Except it was tagged as having "au jus" but it was really just a ladle of grease. Other than that, the dish was great. Many shrimps, crawfish, and abundant sausage. Nicely seasoned but so greasy. Shrimp and grits cakes were a fun take on the main course, and the squash casserole was very good. Edited: after thinking it through, and enduring a stomachache from all the grease in the S&G, I took off a star. Plus I remembered that our server left the credit card machine for us to figure out. It might be fun to come here for drinks but I'm not sure I'd make the effort for dinner again.

EVERYTHING I have had from here has been amazing!!! We have had brunch, lunch, and dinner here and they have never failed our taste buds! Sadly the only picture we took was this cobbler! The seafood pasta is a MUST have! And this cobbler! We can attest that the burger, meatloaf, salmon, pasta, Brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, French toast (holy cow that French toast!), and other stuff I can't remember was not a waste of money! And management is very friendly! Staff is too!!! Children are welcome too! My son eats the cheese quesadilla only so we have no clue what the other options look like or taste like.

The restaurant is the perfect date night spot. The entire experience is something to write home about & brag! The food is mouth watering- we've been here several times over the last two years and it's consistently good. The service is great, too! The staff is knowledgeable about the food & drink, friendly and very attentive.

I had the New York Steak. The fat wasn't cooked down at all, the only seasoning on it was butter and a hint of garlic. Definitely do not recommend the steak. It was not good. Service was wonderful and it was an overall nice spot. Wife had a salmon BLT and she said it was delicious. But let me tell you something, that steak was not it

Stopped by for lunch on a sunny Saturday and got a table right away. Service was really good, ambiance was relaxing and food was excellent. I will for sure be coming back.

Great customer service. Came here on a Saturday evening and it wasn't busy. My boyfriend got a single patty burger with fries, and i got the seafood pasta; but what i really wanted was the Bourbon glazed salmon. I can't wait to go back and try it. I Love the atmosphere and ambiance that this restaurant has. Seafood pasta: 20$ Worth the price! It had jumbo shrimp, crawfish, and sausages. Yum! The base is really cheesy & anyone that likes their pasta like this should order it. Regular single patty: 10$ Buns were fresh and good! Burger was juicy and delicious.

The food was good. The catfish had a nice flavor. The kitchen got behind and was overwhelmed.

The food was fine, but the number of flies inside was crazy. I kept having to swat them away from our food.

$10 to share an entree is just dumb because I will not be back! If you order something else they won't charge you the $10 but the least expensive thing on the menu is $10. Meatloaf is not supposed to be sweet.

My family and I decided to stop by and check out Charred Oak Kitchen and Bar and we were pleased with the service and food selection. We had the white dog shrimp and spinach dip appetizer and they were worth every penny we spent. They were cooked to perfection. For our entrees we decided to try a few options to challenge our taste buds. We decided to have the sirloin steak, Philly cheesesteak, fries, grits, mashed potato's, salmon and collards. The Philly, steak, and mashed potatoes were just okay. The steak had tremendously to much fat on it. While the collards were spicy and tasted liked we were loved. You could write home about the grits and my sister said the salmon hit the spot. I suggest anyone in town to check them out for themselves. Enjoy!

Food was great and the service was great as well. The wait wasn't long at all for it to be crowded.

Has a few options for gluten sensitivity people, but would not recommend for someone with a true gluten allergy. Had a good variety of food and several sides. The wait staff was very attentive and the food came out very quickly. The environment is somewhat loud and the noise carries due to the industrial look and no real sound dampeners. The desert was amazing!!! I would definitely go again and eat and try a few of there other options.

The meatloaf with black eyed peas and Brussels my boyfriend has was fantastic. My Cuban sandwich, phenomenal. Our only complaint is that the French fries needed about 3-5 more minutes to be crispy and not so soft. Overall the staff was friendly and helpful, the environment clean and fun. We would come back for the meal and stay for the bourbon!

I really had high hopes for Charred Oak Atmosphere 10/10 Food 6/10 Aesthetic 10/10 Service 1.5/10 Wont be back. To began we had a 25 min wait(which we were fine with i might add) after ordering our food to only have half of the table to receive their order. While another table (that came in after us this is why the wait felt unjustified) received their food. Then the dish i ordered (southwest pasta) ,i asked for no beans ( they'd already ran out of one of the items that was supposed to be included) and yet the dish came out with beans in it , and the servers response for this was that they'd have to remake the entire dish ( i was fine with that). Newsflash the "new" dish still had beans in it, so im sure it wasn't remade) As the last person to receive their food 36mins was how long it took after ordering Ms.C( our server) was not attentive to our table whatsoever, one of the members of my parties cup was left unfilled for over 10mins, we had to alert her that we wanted refills (granted there is only 6 other tables in the establishment with less people.) For an establishment that has an automatic 20% gratuity added for a party of 6 ( even tho one of our members left before we got our dinner food), it felt very undeserving. Our combined gratuity came out to be 30 dollar; 30 dollars for what. exactly.. i dont know? Of good service would have been fine but for what we received girl please. I came to this establishement for my 27 birthday tonight (3/26) and im very displeased. As if to redeem herself she started giving better service( this happen only after my physical displeasure of the service was visible) And I quote, I love to sing Happy Birthday.Can I start it off? To say I didnt eat much of my food would be an undetstatement, my entire dish went into a togo box which is how i found out that beans were infact still in my dish.( pictured below) Wont be back. I hardly ever write food reviews in food groups but the one i posted this one in was removed(maybe they only want good reviews) . Though the service my party received was anything but good ​.But I thought it should be made known we were not looked after with care in this restaurant until irritation was noticeable.

I wish I was a local. This place was amazing. The bourbon selection is one of the best I've ever seen, and the food was outstanding. If I'm back in town, this would be a go-to location for me.

Located in beautiful Old Town, excellent food quality great selection of whiskey. I been at least four times and enjoyed every meal, dessert is also tasty.

I really want to do 4.5 stars because the menu itself is pretty ho-hum, but this place knows what it is and wears it well. Non-offensive, easy to palette menu options that appeal to just about anyone, good drinks and a well stocked bar, quick and friendly service. Hard to fault any of that- just don't come expecting anything beyond the standard fair and you'll leave very happy.

Really good selection of bourbon and the food is really good. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.
