I recently visited Charyn Canyon in Kazakhstan and had a great time. The natural scenery was impressive, with unique rock formations and beautiful views of the canyon. The walk around the area was enjoyable, and the landscape offered a peaceful escape from the city. While the canyon itself is stunning, it’s not overly crowded, which added to the tranquility of the experience. It’s definitely a great spot for anyone interested in nature and a bit of adventure. The hike down into the canyon is relatively easy, with a few spots where you can take a break and enjoy the views. Overall, Charyn Canyon is a worthwhile visit if you're in Kazakhstan, offering a unique landscape and a calm atmosphere.

This looks like a smaller version of The Grand Canyon in America, the colors, the rock formations is so amazing. One of the benefits of Charyn Canyon is it’s walkable in about less than an hour (each direction). You can also pay to have a jeep drive you down to the river and back. FYI, book the jeep ride early or there will be a long wait. There’s only one jeep going up and down! Beware during hot summer, this could be a hot walk, bring enough water 💧

Around 90 minutes of drive from Almaty, you reach this completely different landscape - a natural wonder with different rock formations in the mountain...you park your car and walk to the end of walking trail on top of the hill - to see amazingly different rock formations below...there after you head back near to the visit center and take the trail down to explore the bottom of canyon...either you can walk to the end of canyon or jeeps available for 1,500 local currency to take you the end of canyon, where you can see a beautiful river too...its really worth it....

Wow! Such an absolutely incredible place 😍. There are toilets and a restaurant there too which we didn't eat in but ate our own picnic under the big shaded veranda. We used one of the hikes on the AllTrails app which took us down to the left away from all the tourists. An exciting route which involved climbing down through the canyon, a bit of scrambling involved for sure so maybe not the best for families! Walking back up through the canyon was magical. Such a beautiful place, so glad we visited.

2nd largest canyon in the world… not as spectacular as Grand Canyon… but certainly a beautiful place to visit. It was very hot 35-37 degrees when we visited end July… so maybe plan your visit in May/ June.

Unfortunately we were lacking of time to fully explore this due to we following the local tour package. We walked through the whole valley with a few stops, then enjoyed our lunch box next to the river under a gazebo. There's a toilet which cost 100 tenge but no water supply. Guest it's not really suitable for 'no 2 business.😅 There's taxi which can transport you back & forth from the entrance to the river area but you need to book in advance the moment you arrived at Canyon as the queue can be pretty long. It cost 500 tenge per person in one way. Will be back again to explore more!

Chryan Canyon National Park is a breathtaking destination, perfect for anyone who loves nature and adventure. Walking between the towering canyons is an awe-inspiring experience, with the natural beauty enhanced by the perfect weather. For those looking for a bit more excitement, mountain bikes are available for rent, offering a thrilling way to explore the rugged terrain. After a day of exploration, you can relax at one of the restaurants at the top, enjoying a meal with a stunning view. The lake at the end of walk is amazing too. A must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike!

Amazing amazing !!! To best admire the Charyn Canyon, an impressive natural site, we wake up at dawn, which means at 3:30 AM. You should know that it is already daylight. We set off for an hour's walk in the cool of the morning. Yesterday, the temperature reached 38 degrees here. I am amazed by the spectacular rock formations and the vibrant colors in the morning sun. It is one of my favorite places in the world; I am enchanted and astonished. It is simply wonderful to be here. It is incredible how perfect nature is and how it can amaze us every day. I can't help but take out my drone to get a view from the sky, just at sunrise. At the end of the canyon, we arrive at the river; it is not very wide but very powerful. This place is often compared to the Grand Canyon in the United States. Of course, at this hour, we are alone facing this vastness. We take a moment to admire and meditate; it is simply a wonderful moment.
