We stayed here for 4 nights in February. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay! Pros: - Great location with an easy 5 min walk to the lifts and about 10 min to shopping/dining on Main Street. - Breakfast provided, basic but good enough to get going, and with reasonable hours — 7:30-9:30. - Clean, comfortable (but basic) room. - Very cost effective, especially for the central location. Room for improvement: - The towels are so thin and small. This seems like a really easy upgrade. - Would be nice to have some yogurt at breakfast. - Would be nice to have a mini fridge in the room (though communal fridge was definitely fine/clean). Overall, I’d stay here again for a basic ski trip to Park City.

A massive shout out to Jason and Ed, the father and son running the Chateau. Both of you were incredibly kind, patient and hard working. Your presence really heightens the experience at the Chateau, thank you. We stayed at the Chateau for 3 nights while visiting Park City and skiing on the mountain. The Chateau is incredibly clean and has loads of character. There is a wonderful little cafeteria with tables and a communal fridge and microwave for the guests to use at their convenience. This is a perfect example of you getting what you paid for. Ed spent some time with us as we made our lunches in the cafeteria one afternoon and expressed how it was a focus of theirs to try and keep the ski experience affordable while visiting the beautiful little city of Park City. The location is absolutely knockout! A ten minute walk to the Park City Mountain Gondola, and an equal ten minute walk to the heart of the downtown area. If you have littles, there is a really fun sledding area right across the street from the Chateau as well. I really can’t say enough positive things about our stay here. 10/10 will revisit and hope to see Ed and Jason here when we return.

Fantastic location. We walked to the chair lift. In the evening we walked to Main Street. Great cozy feel. The folks ensured we had clean towels everyday. Continental breakfast was perfect to get us going. Can’t wait to return:) Thanks for a great stay!

I Have Not Stayed Here. I am a neighbor a few doors down. I love this building. It’s old world ski lodge to perfection. Just a short flight of stairs to the ski lifts - easy to do in ski boots. When you visit park city be mountainkind. Recycle, put food waste in the compost bins, the “Real” locals are welcoming, friendly and happy give directions or suggestions, the buses are free clean and take you right where you want to go. I love this place and I hope the Chateau Apres is around for a long time.

Google
We had an absolutely fantastic stay! The staff was wonderful and very kind, the continental breakfast is simple but anyone should be able to find something, and you cannot beat the location and price. Getting to the lifts is an easy walk even with your gear, and between the resort dining within a 1-2 minute walk and being a 5-10 minute walk to main street you really can't complain. This is a great find to any budget friendly traveler who wants to be right in the mix, with that being said it is budget friendly so small sacrifices are needed. You will absolutely have everything you NEED here but given such an amazing location at this fantastic of a price point it should be common sense that the finer luxuries of a resort hotel stay are not available here.

This is a special place in so many ways and I can’t wait to go back. We had the pleasure of staying here during peak winter for about 4 days. Obviously the location is superb and probably the main reason you might stay here during winter. But the location isn’t the only positive. It’s homey, communal (in a good & helpful way), and the perfect jumping off point to hit the mountain. My favorite part was probably the unexpected breakfast offered in the morning. I didn’t even realize it was available until we were here and was the most welcome surprise. If you’re here in the winter, you’re here to ski, so grabbing a quick meal so you can get on your way was an incredible perk. It’s not the Ritz so no, there aren’t fresh crepes… but it’s also not the Ritz so it’s highly affordable. When writing this, I read some of the other negative reviews.. and if you come here and don’t have a great experience, there’s something wrong with you. I love this place and I feel like I’m staying in my grandpas lodge. The owners and specifically Jason are sooo amazingly helpful. We had some questions, needed to borrow an item or 2 while we were here, and they were incredibly helpful and pleasant. One of the negative reviews we read was about a checkout time.. (eye roll)… it’s a family run small business.. check out is when check out is!! It’s Park City in the winter… what red carpet do you want rolled out for you at these prices? My experience - we needed to check out late too and Jason told us no problem, just pack up your stuff and we’ll store it for you before your flight so you can sneak in another day of skiing. I mean.. how much more accommodating could they be. The lobby has a really great fireplace to sit around after a long cold day. The beds are comfy. The overall vibe of this place is what gives it a perfect score.

Google
This was my first time staying here but my roommate has been coming here for 17 years (for Sundance) and I see why. The communal vibe is great, with people chatting around a beautiful central fireplace. Free breakfast was nice. You walk out the back door and you’re basically on PC mountain. I came for Sundance but also went snowboarding twice. I probably would not bring my wife here for a romantic getaway, but if you are low maintenance the rooms are perfectly adequate and you can’t beat the price and location. I will be back for sure.

No frills Hostel type hotel with very good location. It is very clean.

Yelp
Honestly, this place was not as bad as some reviews made it out to be! Compared to other options in the area, this is an unbeatable price and fantastic location! 2 min walk to the slopes, 10 min walk to downtown shopping area and 2 blocks from a bus stop. This is not a ritz Carlton, of course. But it had a really homey, european vibe. Everything was clean, water was hot, and fireplace in the lobby was really cozy and nice to hangout at. Would definitely stay again if I'm back in park city.

Yelp
The front desk people have been the rudest I ever met in my life when I checked and the guy was rude even during the day the woman is rude or they played Fox News all day . they have an unfriendly inconsiderate and completely rude not worth the money.

Paul D.

Yelp
This place was perfect for what I was looking for. The lodge hasn't been updated since the 70s, but I knew that before booking by simply looking at the pictures. I'm just not the type of person that's going to spend $500/night for lodging. $150/night is much more reasonable. Literally a 5 minute walk to the base of Park City Mountain and 10 minutes to Main Street. I'll be back in a few years.

Amera B.

Yelp
Check in was awful. Arrived at around 730pm and was told that there is no parking. We need to move our car because they have no more permits left. There was three spaces open. The elderly lady that checked us in Said those people are probably out for dinner and we need to move our car. Then she rudely asked my husband "didn't you know there's no parking?". I tried not to be rude but lady there is this thing called booking.com and unfortunately it doesn't say that in their website. She also told my husband to talk to Jason the manager in the morning as they my have to charge us 25$ for night for our 3 year old daughter who co sleeps with us. The next day I spoke to a guy in the front desk who identified himself as the father of Jason. He said it's fine they won't charge us. He didn't mention anything about the permit for our car. We just need to give the model and color of our car. He said there's no designated parking for each room. He was much nicer than the lady that checked us in. This lodge is okay for the price. Although they don't have a fridge and microwave in the room there is one in their common area. It's kept pretty clean. Besides the unpleasant borderline racist encounter we had during check in the rest of the stay is fine. I would have given this place 5star if it wasn't for the rude check in service.

David L.

Yelp
Solid place to stay if you want to focus on skiing without blowing the bank. Clean, quiet - a skiers place. The room was circa 1980 but had everything you needed. Two minute walk to PC lifts. Basic skiers breakfast. Why pay big bucks when a place like this more than fills the bill. If you are trying to impress your new bling oriented girl friend - not the place for you. But if you want money on your pocket after buying steep lift tickets - stay here

Sarah S.

Yelp
Had some issues with this booking through Expedia but this hotel turned out to have a good customer service department! We will definitely stay there in the future!

Z R.

Yelp
This place will always be the highlight of my first experience in Park City. I know even to this day prejudice and racism is rampant in our society and this was made abundantly clear by the way th owner of this business treated our party. When we arrived to check-in, at first the owner was unwelcoming, but became downright hostile as soon as he saw a Middle Eastern person. He absolutely refused to allow us to check-in for our reservation. The situation was escalating quickly and the owner seemed to be getting more angry by the second. We could not get out of there fast enough. There is a silver lining. If it hadn't been for this place leaving us stranded on a busy weekend we would have never found Tuck at Park Station Condominium Hotel (https://www.yelp.com/biz/park-station-condominium-hotel-park-city). After leaving Chateau Après Lodge, we just happened to call Park Station via a quick Yelp search and were relieved to find that Tuck had his last condo available to rent. Tuck saved our vacation, and we were within walking distance to the Town Lift. The cherry on top is that the color of your skin is NOT one of the qualification for you to be able to stay at Park Station. Do yourself a favor and stay ANYWHERE ELSE, but at Chateau Apres Lodge.

Yelp
Simple base for skiing and dining, no complaints, 5 star for the price The Chateau was exactly what we were looking for. The location was great, very close to the base of the mountain, walkable even in clunky ski boots. You can leave your skiis/boots/snowboards in the hall outside of your room, very nice so they can stay warm but not get your room messy. Room was small and simple, but this is what we expected with the price, so no complaints. No problems with the water in the shower. Room was always warm which we appreciated after talking to a friend who stayed at Lift Lodge and said he was freezing all night. The free breakfast from 730 - 930 was simple but a nice touch. Free parking directly in front of the building. Perfect for people who are looking for a cheaper cozy spot. Great common area which would be nice if you're staying with a group, table with tons of board games for use which would be fun for families there for skiing who don't want to go into main street. It was just under a 10 minute walk, and there were free shuttles as well if you did want to go downtown. Struggle with the star rating as this was of course not a 5 star hotel, but for the price we stayed, it was a 5 star value. Felt very safe and comfortable, saw the same men around at the front desk, during breafkast, felt comfortable they would help if we had any issues. Definitely would recommend. Room Tip: Hotel is in a hill - 2nd floor allows you walk right out the back onto the sidewalk, but your window...

Scott G.

Yelp
Not a chateau. Rather this bare bones lodge is from another era, as are the medley of faded ski posters from Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Utah. Situated just off the Main Street (it's a 15 min walk to the heart of town) on the side of the mountain beneath Park City ski lift. Upon arrival you're greeted to a gas fire burning in the lobby in the most realistic fake fire pit you'll come across. The room walls are filament thin. Breakfast is Quaker Oats in a bag, hot water, your choice of five Kellogg's cereals, coffee and juice. It is squeaky clean, towels are bright white and thin, and smiles are in short supply. The thermostat is locked in a plastic clear plastic box. This was frustrating as the heat in my room is suffocating.

Yelp
I wouldve given 2 stars buuuut this place kinda grew on me over the course of a couple days. From the front, it looks like the whorehouse from Beetlejuice. It is a dead on replica. From the back... Well the back is a 2 minute walk to the lifts so you cant beat that. The rooms are closet sized. We had a good laugh at some of the corners they cut. The TV is positioned perfectly on the wall for you to rip a giant hole in your head. As if you need more danger after you get done shredding the gnar. Instead of a bottom sheet that grips the side of the bed they just gave me 2 top sheets. They also have never heard of dryer sheets because there were static electricity fireworks in all of our beds. My bed never got made in four days but I think they switched out the napkins they called towels. I thought the breakfast was reasonable though. The attendant paid close attention to make sure the coffee, milk and cereal dispensers were full. There was also bread, toasters, butter, peanut butter and jelly. They also can some sort of canned fruit which I didnt touch. Overall this place was OK, right by the lifts and close to a bus stop into town. If you are a germaphobe or a snob you may want to find different accomadations..

Adrian B.

Yelp
What can I say? The location is great. It's just a short walk up the hill to the Park City slopes, and a very easy walk to Main Street. I loved it all. Yes, like everyone else on here says, the towels are not all that. They get the job done. It's exactly what I wanted in a ski lodge. Very quaint and cozy.

John G.

Yelp
Location, location, location This hostle / lodge is a gem. It's steps from both the lifts at Park City Mountain Resort and the historic downtown. This family owned business attracts many return customers which I've had the pleasure to meet in it's pleasant fireside lounge and breakfast nook. It's affordable, clean, and convenient lodging in a ski town, almost unheard of these days.

Christine W.

Yelp
If I could give this experience ZERO stars I absolutely would! I would recommend NOT staying here and supporting this business owner. We did originally have a party of 2 but had a last minute change and increased to a party of 4. Based on our understanding of the arrangements (which was from the website description), the room we booked had two beds and one pull out couch - it would be a little tight but would work for our two night stay and we figured it would be no problem. After all, we were there to ski and not hang out in the room - we simply needed a place to sleep & get cleaned up. When our party came to check in, we immediately had problems with the gentleman at the front desk who happened to identify himself as the owner. He had a very rude demeanor from the beginning, making snide comments, and became more agitated as time went on. We simply asked questions about the room (since he would not allow us to see it), if he knew what the website description was, etc. He was very short with us and basically would not answer our questions stating "we've been here 52 years and nothing has changed". He continued to not allow our party to check in let alone even look at the room, citing he never permits 4 people to one room. When asked his rationale he said it was too small and "he just doesn't allow it". Finally after several minutes of conversation, he allowed us to look at the room and continued to get more agitated and irate while looking at the room. Once looking at the room we knew it would be extra tight and most certainly not ideal but could work. Despite the fact that the owner offered an additional room for only one of two nights of our stay, we opted to find alternative lodging due to our terrible experience. Hopefully the owner gets an attitude adjustment ASAP or he'll have no business to run. I've never been treated so rudely and terribly by anyone, as I was by this man, especially a business owner. I am an ER nurse & deal with people in their worst moments and still have never been treated this horribly. His behavior was completely unacceptable. If he can't figure out how to run his business properly and act like a decent human being, he's going to eventually suffer the consequences of his actions.

Jason S.

Yelp
We stayed here for a ski weekend. The place is no-frills, everyone is spot on about that. Including the thin walls, unmade beds and canned fruit breakfast. BUT, the great thing is the location. Its 3 minute walk from Park City mountain. And they sell $80 discount tickets. Walking to Main St is about 10 minutes. In the other direction you can get to a market and movie theater. All of which is easy by bus, which stops in front of the library. Our rate was $105. I heard the hostel room was $40 if you really want to rough it.

Ricia B.

Yelp
Horrible experience!!! The owner was so unprofessional and rude. I have never been treated so badly in my life and I'm an ER nurse and deal with a lot of unhappy people on a daily basis. My group was super excited about staying here and we were not welcomed at all. In fact, one of my friends is from Pakistan but was raised in America and the owner saw him and immediately treated our group with prejudice. I was very shocked and saddened by this being that this is the 21st century and God created us all equally. Please don't give this place any business as the owners behavior was shocking and beyond rude.

Amber L.

Yelp
I agree with the review below - Perfect for what it is. If you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Park City that is close to the slopes and provides a place to stay, this is about as good as it gets. The rooms were simple, but clean. The beds were comfortable enough, but don't expect a maid service to make the bed. The bathrooms were cleaned once a day and new towels were provided (the towels were on the small side, but got the job done). Breakfast consisted for hot and cold cereal, juice, and coffee. Someone was there to make sure the coffee stayed hot. Main lobby had a fun fire and hot cider at night. Everyone was very helpful and friendly who worked there. The Location was excellent! Not even a 5 minute walk out the back door to Park Mountain Resort. There was a bus stop out front, so you could hop on the free bus to get to Deer Valley. It was a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown Main Street (or you could take the bus, if you didn't have a car). If you're looking for the perks of a 5 star hotel, you won't get it here. But, if you plan on spending your time skiing and need a convenient and inexpensive place to stay, this would work. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Park City.

John D.

Yelp
Let's keep it simple. The accommodations are VERY basic. If you're expecting more than what you're paying for, you'll be disappointed. Keeping it real, it's an easy walk to the base of the main resort. Probably a 10 minute walk to Main Street. The staff was polite and there were fresh towels each day, but that's it. We stayed on President's Weekend, and everything else was ridiculously priced. I'm giving 3 stars, because I didn't expect too much, but would recommend this place to anyone on a budget, that wants to be close to the resort, or refuses to pay the extortion on a peak weekend.

Christian M.

Yelp
Holy crap.... Where do I start. This has got to be the worst place I have stayed in. The person at the front desk who says he is the owner has to be the rudest man on the planet. Thank GOD for yelp. The rooms are VERY basic and uncomfortable and from the moment I walked in, I felt I wasn't welcome... Have fun succeeding in the a** hole department because the hotel business ain't your cup o' tea!

Scott M.

Yelp
Perfect for what it is. Want an old school lodge that is close to the slopes, has a cute old circular fireplace , old fashioned cafe and "hot tub time machine" vintage charm and is super affordable, clean and cozy? Look no further. International crowd, very friendly staff, looks just like pics, great place to meet nice people, hang out and play a game of scrabble near the fire (they have board games ) and just relax. This place is a gem and I couldn't recommend it enough. IF you want a fancy hotel with modern amenities and want to spend 3x the cost per night you have lots of options. We totally dig this place. Note: for cheap lift tix Stop off at ski rental place in salt lake city after getting rental car before driving to park city. $20 less per day. Note: aloha ski rental and breeze have 25% off coupons at the chateau desk. Note: great bookstore on main street. Note: whole foods before turn onto park city to stock up. You can keep items in chateau apres kitchen fridge. Note: canyons nicer/better than park city for skiing. Bigger, better snow. Note: orange bubble lift at canyons awesome. Fast, heated seats!!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
Really affordable. Location is amazing, 5 minute walk to the chairlifts. Rooms are pretty basic, but if your spending your day on the slopes its more than adequate. Staff is friendly and breakfast is included.

Kari A.

Yelp
Great staff... Rooms are super basic. If you are high maintainence... You wont like it. If you are going to snowboard.. You can walk to The lifts... If your going to spend your days on The mountain... This place is for you. We will be going back for sure!!

Leslie L.

Yelp
Chateau Apres is an excellent 2 1/2 star hotel. It is a chalet, similar to what one would find in Europe. We arrived at about 10 pm at night...check-in was a breeze. There were plastic bags of three chocolate chip cookies that we purchased for a $1. Location: The chateau is a 5 minute walk to the Park City Ski Resort. You just had to walk up some stairs to get to the road where the resort is located. It's about a 5 minute drive to Main Street. Room: The room is basic. It has a bed, a couch, a dresser, and a television. The television had cable. The bed was a double bed...nothing special, but comfortable enough. The bathroom was tiny, with a very tiny shower. The shower was clean. The water was a bit undependable...it was hard to get a comfortable temperature. Parking: There are several parking spaces located in front of the chateau. One evening we came back late, and there were no parking spaces. The hotel gave us a sign to put up in our car, and we parked about a block away. Breakfast: Continental breakfast is included. It is "good enough." There was canned fruit, coffee, juice, cereal, muffins (Costco style), toast, peanut butter, and jelly. Nothing wonderful, but it filled us up enough for the skiing. This place is not a four star hotel, and one shouldn't expect it to be for the price we paid. It is a great value for a hotel in a great location at a reasonable price. I would stay here again.

Tae K.

Yelp
This review is for their dorm sleeling. They give you a big locker to keep your stuff locked up. The lock is weak so you can open it with a little force if needed, but I didnt try that as I had the key. The beds are bunk beds, so they are okay. I did 3 nights and it was okay, heard some creaking from the above floor and the blanket they give is thin, so bring something or wear warm clothes when you sleep. The breakfast was nice and the common area fire place is the best. They have a one apple desktop computer (10mins max) for communal use and some board games. Also they give you hot cider during the night, it was sweet and hot. Only a short walk to the lifts and you can walk to most restaurants, market, starbucks, 7 eleven, and etc. The location is the best and for a budget sleep, this place is the best. 40+tax (about $44 per night).

andrew m.

Yelp
at $100 a night, this is an unbeatable park city deal. breakfast is included but it consists of little more than cereal or instant oatmeal. and the walls are paper thin so bring earplugs. BUT the lift is literally behind the property, outside of the 2nd floor door. there's a large fireplace in the lounge so hang out, dry your gloves, and you might learn a thing or two from the regulars.

Ginny A.

Yelp
When travelling, I often engage locals in conversation about their favorite whatever: where would you take a best friend from out of town to dinner in your hometown? Where would you recommend your friends to stay? (If not at your house?) That's how I "discovered" Chateau Apres. Chatting with a man at a luggage carousel in Salt Lake who had regularly taken groups to the Chateau. So I tried it in the 80s, and since the mid-90s, haven't missed a year during ski season. The draw...price (of course), but also location and hospitality. Leslie's description is the most similar to my experience and the most up-to-date of the yelps. It has always been squeaky clean everywhere. There is daily bathroom and trash service, but you keep your sheets for the duration or if you ask for a change. They are plain but lovely soft sheets. Each year there are new upgrades to this family owned facility. So Patrick won't rip his head on the TV, there are now flatscreens throughout. A new iMac computer was delivered while I was there last month replacing the community PC in the lobby. Carpet on stairs and in the lobby was replaced a few years ago. New beds appeared one year, this year there are some new fluffy pillows and new bedspreads. The fire in the lobby is a gathering place at night. For many years raconteurs would practice tall tale telling. This year, however, more people socialized at the fire via their various cell phones and computers....and there was little live conversation. Breakfast is basic, but really, it's what most of us would make many days at home. There are many options in town and on the various hills for a more hearty breakfast, but at the Chateau breakfast the coffee pot is always fresh, orange juice and they provide a great assortment of the most popular cereals. Definitely gets you started well. The local grocers cater to visitors and you can purchase fruit and salads, soups and pastries to bring back to the community fridge for dinner or breakfast augmentation. Many guests will bring home leftovers from Chinese or other generous portioned restaurants, and save it for tomorrow in that fridge. There are two floors of rooms that can accommodate 1 to 4 guests. The towels are basic also. They are adequate if Spartan. Sometimes I have brought an old big towel and then trash it rather than bring it home. Thereare also dorms that are classic hostel. I've also done that many years...the price is amazing. Check to see if the dorms are open. Can be chilly, but there are ways to keep warm! More on location: Chateau Apres is one block from the free bus which takes you to all three ski areas, the new more distant Redstone Center with a new Cinema, Whole Foods and other restaurants and the Outlet Shops across the highway. The Chateau is also three properties away from the Park City Library, where visitors may use the computers or check out books with a special guest card. On weekends, the Park City Film Series screens mostly indies in the auditorium above the library. This is a community evening out and mostly attended by residents. I love being close enough to walk home in two or three minutes after an evening in the library or at the film series. You don't really need a car in PC, and certainly not if you stay at the Chateau! It is my ideal vacation to ski, read, catch up on interesting films, eat out, browse galleries (Coda and many others), the Kimball Art Center (Ansel Adams just closed), all either walking distance or that free bus ride away! The reported walking distance to Park City Resort is only two blocks from the back door out the second floor. I prefer to leave my gear at Deer Valley in the free overnight check, and hop the bus in the morning. DV doesn't need my Yelp as they are celebrating the fourth consecutive annual #1 resort rating in Ski Magazine. Guests at the Chateau include regulars from all over the world who are serious about skiing and care about their finances. I enjoy meeting these folks, something that probably wouldn't happen if I rented a condo or stayed in an upscale hotel.

Erik C.

Yelp
This is a review about the honesty and integrity of the owners. I booked a trip, but had to cancel it at the last minute. Their policy clearly states that there is no refund, but the owners will try and re-list your booking if possible. We spoke on the phone and Jason said he'd re-list it. A few weeks later I got a check in the mail! Love businesses and people that act in this honest way, and I can't wait to stay here soon!

Daisy V.

Yelp
This place is awesome...if you know what you are signing up for. We stayed here over the Christmas holiday and had the best time. It is the coziest place and I find myself missing it a little bit. The rooms are clean but it is certainly nothing fancy. The walls are quite thin so we could hear our neighbor's conversations at times. The best part about this place is how close it is to the ski lifts. It is literally a 4 minute walk to park city mountain resort. You can also walk across the field in the front of the hotel and you are at a bus stop that will bring you to main street (where all the restaurant and bars are) in 2 minutes. It was quite expensive since we went during the holidays but I still felt we got what we paid for. I loved waking up in the morning and going downstairs to the little diner area in my pajamas where they served breakfast. The breakfast is just cereal, muffins, fruit, bagels/toast, oj, and coffee, nothing too crazy. I am counting the days until I can return next year!
