We stayed here for five nights in June 2016 and loved it. The chateau is approached along an unpaved road, (with which our hired VW Polo had no problems) initially through a farmyard off the D947 Orthez - Navarrenx road, just over an hour's drive from Biarritz airport. The building has been carefully and lovingly restored by the present owners, with no expense spared (it is air-conditioned throughout.) There is a guest dining room and separate lounge on the ground floor, both beautifully and elegantly decorated. ||||We had the Vivaldi Suite, which comprised a spacious sittingroom with very comfortable armchairs, a bedroom with a super king-size bed and a bathroom with a bath and separate shower. This is the more modern of the two suites, but has clearly been designed by someone with a good eye for interior decoration. There is a small hanging wardrobe and ample drawer space. The air conditioning is effective and very quiet.||||The chateau sits in rolling, wooded farmland in exceptionally peaceful surroundings. There is a spacious lawned area to the front with comfortable chairs and recliners. ||||It is a chambre d'hote, breakfast being provided by Mme Darrigrand, who speaks some English and can rustle up pretty much anything you ask for. There is a good choice of restaurants within a 15 min drive, and we particularly recommend the Auberge Claverie in Audaux, which is the nearest. There is another excellent one in Laas, about 15 min away, and a further four in Navarrenx, about 10-12 min.

Got married there. It was simply idyllic. Jacquie & Michel are incredibly kind and warm, and the work they've done to restore this gem entirely is breathtaking. Stunning, bucolic, serene - our guests have sent us tons of messages to express how much they enjoyed their time there. We all have tons of memories for life. The house itself is marvellous, and the rooms absolutely amazing - and filled with history. We'd recommend the Chateau de Baylac to anyone, it's simply perfect. And on top of this - the area is so wonderful!

Situated off the beaten track down a long drive you fine a lovingly restored Château with a very warm welcome from the family running it. Very comfortable, well equipped bedroom with a great bed. Wonderful breakfast to set us on our way next morning. Highly recommended.

Stayed two nights in this wonderful find, an oasis of tranquility. Lovely recent restoration of a large farmhouse/chateau run by a charming couple (Jacqueline and Patrick) who were welcoming and helpful in every way. Clean, comfortable, quiet, air con, lovely breakfast in an authentic period French dining room. Up a bit of a meandering unpaved laneway, but don’t be deterred by such a small detail... A great retreat to make sure you do absolutely nothing. Forget the internet up here. You’ll hopefully forget it exists anyway...

After a ride down a long and dusty road we found the 'chateaux ' it is a work in progress but does not as yet live up to its' title. It is a farmhouse surrounded by grass. We enjoyed an evening drink on the grass which was a bonus with exceptional weather and made our evening. The room was large, very clean with all the required amenities-no TV which is not a bad thing, there is one In a lounge if you wanted. Breakfast was good with a reasonable choice of fresh produce. The hosts are friendly but limited English if you don't speak French. We only stayed one night as a stop over and would have got better value arriving earlier and leaving later.

We booked a room at the chateau based on location and reviews from other tourists.||Once we'd managed to follow the directions and found it, we were very pleasantly surprised.||We were welcomed by Jackie and her lovely daughter and shown to our room, which was huge, newly fitted out and with a luxury bathroom. We slept very well, due to the extremely comfortable bed and the quiet, secluded location.||We met Patrick at breakfast in the very traditional and well fitted dining room, where we were offered a wide choice of fresh produce.||Nothing seemed too much trouble for this very personable couple.||The chateau seems very much 'work in progress', as there are, I believe, just 4 or 5 rooms to let at the moment, but with enormous scope to convert yet more of this lovely old building.||The location is so private, with a very long, winding drive from the main road, that we saw wild deer and foxes in the grounds.||We shall definitely return

Beautiful B&B run by Patrick and Jacqui, they do not speak English but were so enthusiastic and helpful it really wasn't a problem. They have contemporary and traditional rooms, all to a very high standard, lovely soft bath robes and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast is traditional but we were offered scrambled eggs and bacon as well, delicious, and the evening meals were absolutely superb with very decent wine. Cannot wait to have the chance to go back.

Stayed three nights, surrounded by fields and woods - only sounds are birdsong and cows munching grass. At end of a track so a little off main route but worth small detour. Great hosts, didn't speak much English but very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful room and fascinating building revived from being near derelict 7 years ago.
