Château de Beynac

The most amazing Château we have been to yet! Well worth the trip, just make sure you park up top and not on river like we did. It's a very steep, but beautiful walk up the path if you want some exercise tho.

A wonderful place which is beautifully preserved and enhanced with interactive experiences including audio guides in multiple languages and an informative slide show. Visited on a beautifully sunny day in November, no crowds and plenty of time and space to explore.

What an incredible castle. This ancient castle sits above the Dordogne Valley with an ancient 12th century village on the surrounding hillside. No guides, just enjoy at your own pace. A must see if you are in the area.

One of the most impressive castles in the Périgord. Majestic, its location remains breathtaking and its panorama exceptional. Indeed, this incredible medieval fortress, perched on its golden cliff, overlooks the Dordogne River from over 150 meters above sea level. A true movie set ! A tour of the castle will take you from the 12th-century keep to the majestic Salle des Etats, ending at the top of the Éperon Tower, where you'll overlook the valley just as the Beynac family, to whom the building belonged for nearly 1,000 years, did. From there, the view over the Valley of the Five Castles is superb ! When leaving the castle, we've visit the church, whose stately lodge is open to the public.

Château de Beynac is stunning—basically the Beyoncé of castles. The views will wreck you (in a good way), and the stairs will leave you breathless along with the view. Worth it. Also, the castle was basically for a woman who had two husbands bc she could. Iconic

Grand castle. Need 1 hour to go through it. Asked to download the application as tour guide. Could have provided a pamphlet instead of it. View was stunning and worth a one time visit

The video explaining the architecture of Château de Beynac was excellent. The accompanying app provided an audio guide and the narrative about Queen Eleanor and her son, King Henry, enriching the experience. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking, offering a unique perspective reminiscent of the monarchy, where you feel as if you’re overlooking the entire land, inspiring a sense of responsibility to protect it. From this vantage point, you can also see the nearby Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle. The entrance fee is quite reasonable, making this visit even more worthwhile. Highly recommend!

Great medieval castle with stunning views and no crowds. Fascinating history and well-preserved architecture make it worth visiting. Important tip: Skip the lower parking and go straight to the upper lot (same price). The walk up from below is very steep and challenging - those with mobility issues should definitely use the top parking. The upper lot saves you a difficult climb and gets you right to the entrance. Highly recommend for history lovers looking for an authentic castle experience without the tourist masses.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

A wonderful tour of this 12th century castle and surrounding area. Suggest you go with a guide or some type of guide book so that you know what you are looking at. Apparently Vikings made it this far at some point. Saw what was said to have been Richard the Lionheart's bedroom. Stunning scenery at the meeting point of French and English cultures and the site of many terrible battles. If you are in the Dordogne I recommend you stop by. Mark.

This chateau is like Middle Ages look castle. It great for movie set. It is built as military base. Easy to defend and hard to attack. It is part of Dordogne area castle. This castle was built in 12 century. The castle is coated on the cliffs that have good view to Dordogne river below. The castle is a bit bare in compared with many other decorated castle. However the stair and overlook make up the beauty of the interior castle. Many film has done their production here. Love the pictures perfect outward.

A wonderful place. Don't forget the cam !! Typical french castle of Middle Age. Fixed near to the Dordogne, you never forget Beynac !! Restaurants at the foot of the moutain. 7,50 EUR for the visit of the castle. Movies "Visitors 2" & "Jeannd'Arc" by Luc BESSON were made here.
