Chateau de la Resle, Montigny la Resle, Burgundy - Explore & Book

"Nestling in the heart of north Burgundy and only 20 minutes from the medieval splendour of Chablis, it would be easy to regard Chateau de la Resle as another staging post from which to explore the sprawling vineyards of France’s famous wine region. But that would be to neglect the private delights of this achingly restored, ivy-clad manor house, which marries homely ambience with modern glamour. A secluded haven surrounded by six hectares of stunning woodland, the chateau is a miracle of detailed attention. Its nine elegant rooms and hallways are little galleries of art and sculpture specially commissioned by Dutch hosts Johan and Pieter. Outside, the manicured grounds boast a heated pool beside a spacious sun terrace and dining area (where Johan can whip up a feast of local produce). After a leisurely breakfast, take off and explore the historic grandeur of nearby Vézelay and Fontenay. Potter around the markets at Chablis and Auxerre. Or stroll around a vineyard or two (or three) before returning for a sauna and steam in the chateau's spa. Later, rejuvenate with a glass of something chilled as the sun sets over the Montigny-la-Resle valley. It's the perfect romantic setting for blush and Burgundy. Highs All the elegance of a country hotel but with the warmth and welcome of a family establishmentSuperb cuisine. The chateau’s menu is organic, locally sourced, seasonal (and mainly vegetables) – and there’s a plethora of fine-dining experiences in the local areaLots of activities to suit every mood – from leisurely (sightseeing, shopping, wine-tasting) to energetic (hiking, climbing, cycling and other sports)Secluded and quiet, it’s well away from the tourist hotspots Lows Dinner isn’t served in the chateau every night – and guests are required to book well in advance Five suites have air conditioning, portable units are available for the remainderGiven the ethos of sophisticated elegance and relaxation, it isn’t suitable for children under 10. Pets are not allowedA car is a must if you want to get out and about, especially to eat" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

Chateau de la Resle (Montigny la Resle, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) 7 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Even if Château de la Resle were simply another elegant French hotel in the Burgundy wine country, the world would be a richer place — there’s no such thing as too many. But Château de la Resle is something far more special. On the outside it’s as classic as can be, its white-shuttered façade laced with climbing vines and standing above a perfectly tended garden, but inside it’s a genuine contemporary art and design showcase, curated by a pair of collectors with a burgeoning high-end home furnishings business. The result is a French château hotel like no other, where the romantic atmosphere of a 19th-century country manor combines with the plush comforts and visual style of a high-end modern design hotel." - Tablet Hotels

I am so glad that we stumbled onto this Chateau hotel. It was the perfect relaxing place to stay before going to Paris. We had never been to the Chablis area before, and it is incredibly beautiful. We booked one of the duplex rooms off the pool, and we loved it. One thing to note is that the stairs to the bedroom are quite steep. The room was very comfortable and the bed and linens were also very comfortable. After a week of travel and dining out, we very much appreciated having a kitchen! The pool was lovely to swim in. We didn't take advantage of the spa. Maybe next time. ||I also want to mention how wonderful, kind, and generous the staff is. They are extremely attentive. They helped us book a few wine tastings, which we enjoyed. They were also very gracious and helpful when we came back on the later side and forgot to bring the code to get back in. Additionally, the breakfast was simple but great and for dinner the restaurant was excellent and a real treat. All in all, we were delighted by our stay and would absolutely stay there again!

Great escape for a long weekend close to Paris (just 1,5h drive without traffic). We stayed in the Vezelay suite in front of the pool! It was great, well designed with all equipments you can think of! The negative side of the hotel was the small flies that can be everywhere when it is a hot and no wind day! It is unavoidable which was super annoying specially the last day when we tried to go for jogging! The people are lovely and they gave us a great care.

A beautiful setting and the staff could not have friendlier and more charming.|Dinner was delicious and incredibly good value. Obviously at the moment the menu is very tight, but once the proposed new restaurant has opened I am sure the choice will be excellent.|We plan to return.

First of all, if you are looking for an authentic French experience, this is not the place for you - it is super international and could be located anywhere in the world. But that’s a matter of personal preference and I would not let that influence my rating :-) Overall, Beautiful place, all very tastefully decorated and super well maintained and clean. The owners have clearly created a gem here and have pourer heart and soul into it. Very friendly team. Dinner was delicious and had a great atmosphere with the chef. The night we arrived there was flooding and a power outage in the area but the hosts handled everything super professionally. Kudos to that! Unfortunately our room had no AC and the windows have no insect protection which made sleeping after a hot summer day difficult. Minibar and honesty bar prices seemed a bit high (40€ for the cheapest bottle in the honesty bar and minibar wine starting at 26€/ half bottle) i think some more reasonably priced beverages would encourage people to have a drink on site and enjoy the surroundings. Wine prices at dinner were okay however.

A Fantastic Hotel with lovely people, wonderful food by the chef Yaman and comfortable rooms. Stay more than one night, you will definitely not regret it in this quiet place. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the main building has many designer objects. And of course I would also like to mention the breakfast. Just like when you are invited to a friend's house.

We stayed at Chateau de la Resle for two nights en route to Italy. It was extremely comfortable. We were in Suite Vezelay and so had the swimming pool right outside our room, which was perfect. We were looked after very well but a group of charming staffs and owners. Breakfast was delicious. The chateau and its grounds are beautiful. We would love to return!
