Absolutely stunning afternoon spent at Chateau de Labourdounais. The house is out of this world and the museum section is so interesting. The gardens are stunning. My partner did the rum tasting and really enjoyed it. The gift shop is beautiful! It was an idyllic way to spend a rainy afternoon. Magnificent!

We had the guided tour which I recommend as the guide is very knowledgeable and there is a lot to see and it gets you in the cellars (hell). In these cellars you see the stoves where the workers had to work in overheated and dangerous conditions to aid the formation of sugar. A guided tour of the the restored house, with its fusion of French and British styles. Then finish off with a rum tasting.Yum.

Beautiful place with so much historic significance. We spend walking around the estate and soaking up the history. There is free rum tasting included in the ticket. The rums are brewed there locally. Which was a great experience. There are also farm animals to engage your kids

Incredible historic place giving an idea of how life has been one and a half centuries ago as a landlord on Ile de France. Really well maintained park and lovely restored building! Worth a visit!

The Labourdonnais estate has been home to the Wiehe family for over 150 years. Established in 1856, it underwent extensive renovations in 2006 to preserve its elegant 19th-century colonial architecture. After your visit, take a stroll through the lovely gardens and historic orchard. The estate preserves endemic plants and also boasts over 50 centuries-old mango trees, spices, and many tropical fruit trees. You can also try the estate's own rum or juice at the tasting bar. After your visit, dine at the adjacent restaurant.

A stunning house typical of the American colonial style and with a lot of family history. There's almost no reference to the life of the slaves upon whose backs the money was made.....maybe that reflects the fact that the family still live and work here. Either way it's a sad omission in an otherwise impressive place

Very nice Mediterranean food with a menu that feels authentic and satisfying. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and you immediately feel at ease thanks to the vast view overlooking the beautiful château. The château itself adds a special charm, with its historic significance tied to the family who owns the estate. The setting is truly relaxing, making it a great spot to unwind while enjoying good food. It’s also a popular place among tourists and expats, which adds to the lively yet comfortable vibe. You can also find beautiful spots for photos, making the experience even more memorable. Overall, a wonderful combination of delicious cuisine, scenic views, and a unique historic backdrop.

A beautiful, magical place for a special occasion. We were very well looked after, the food was very good and the DJ took us back to our roots with an outstanding selection. From the cocktails to the dinner itself, everything was perfect.
