We stayed here on a stopover from Calais down to St Tropez and we were thoroughly impressed, especially for the price. A beautiful chateau, old school rooms with big comfy beds. Air conditioning was in good working order and was much appreciated on a warm July evening. ||Enjoyed a lovely glass of rose on the terrace as the sun set. Didn’t use the restaurant so couldn’t comment on that but if we had got there slightly earlier, we would have definitely used the lovely looking swimming pool!||Overall it was a great find - a little gem. We will definitely be back! Merci beaucoup, Chateau de Saulon! x

The grounds were spacious and serene but the gardens were tired, overgrown and neglected. Weeds growing along the steps. The cleaning service was minimal and did not replenish tea, water or even toilet paper. The bed was moderately comfortable but the pillows were not. General wait service was average. This would be a lovely and romantic setting if it were kept up and breakfast staff smiled and were more energetic

Unfortunately absolutely not satisfied. |After several visits with a good experience now it’s a no go. The room we stayed in was absolutely moldy so we couldn’t really sleep because of the strong odor not to mention the mycotoxins we breath in during this night. After reporting the issue to the staff at the reception they just took it easy and that’s it. I think that paying 400€ for a night is definitely NOT worth it.

It was a nice stay in a well designed space. We both felt the service could’ve been improved and the room keeping service. We ran out of basic amenities in the room and they were not replaced when the cleaners came. Just something for the location to improve upon.

A lovely little château just outside Dijon, the perfect stop on the way to the South. Surrounded by gardens and vineyards, it offers great food, fine Burgundy wine, a refreshing pool, and even a friendly resident ghost. We’ll gladly return!

We booked a junior suite and confirmed this with numerous email follow ups to the hotel. We only booked at this Château because of these new Junior suites fully renovated and we confirmed multiple times. There would be air conditioning since it was going to be extremely hot when we were there.||We were coming from Lyon in 97°F temperatures. When we arrived early evening on Sunday. June 22. we were directed to the building that our room was in. Front desk person was cherry. We talked to her about the property, etc. No help was offered to get our bags up the stairs to the room but we figured that’s fine. After lugging everything up there in the heat, the room looked just like the pictures. An enormous room with separate living room area beam ceilings huge terrace separate water closet bathroom from the enormous newly done beautiful bath. Exactly what we wanted except for one thing.|We couldn’t get the AC working. We finally called down after about 10 or 15 minutes.|And the woman they said, Oh no the AC doesn’t work. it went out last week and they’ve been unable to get a repair person to come out to fix it. Like it was no biggy. It was 97°F out! And hotter in the room.||So they knew this when we checked it and they knew it the week before. They apparently tried to get somebody Friday. So they could’ve notified us then and we could’ve found a different hotel if they didn’t have a room we wanted. And we would not have stayed in any of their other rooms! That is why I confirmed more than once the exact room we would have and that it in fact would have air conditioning. (Some Château in the area do not.)||They offered us a room that from pictures is the worst in the entire establishment and they’re all different. It’s in a different building tiny a dump didn’t even have curtains and even in the evening was broad daylight in the room. The see through blinds they had that didn’t block the windows. Itty-bitty rundown bathroom, etc.||We did not want to stay there, so we spent the next hour instead of enjoying the pool, the whole reason we booked at this Château, we were calling other hotels. . If course there was no availability any where.||They then said a king room came up because somebody was shown it, and didn’t want it in the main building. Unbelievable. And it was so bad that I understand why somebody walked in and canceled their reservation and left. But we had no choice since we couldn’t find anywhere else to stay. |The room was ugly, very old and dated with noisy AC unit and so small that we could not walk past each other at the end of the bed we had to wait for the other one to pass by. Our luggage filled the entire floor. The bathroom had five different colors of surfaces and things that didn’t match and the shower walls were painted. Painted not tiled. With wood stripping next to them that was rotted and had a hole. Do you think there’s mold in there?||Through all of this, the staff did nothing. They didn’t so much as offer us a glass of Cremant. And you check in literally at a bar. They didn’t offer us complementary breakfast or dinner at their nice outdoor restaurant which we did end up eating at. Absolutely nothing. |We were told by a manager that was there the next day who was the only one that was apologetic, that they are privately owned, and basically have to inform the owners and the owners are the ones making these decisions. Well shame on them. They shouldn’t own a B&B if that’s how they treat their guests!||How the staff handled t t he situation is appalling. we understand that air conditioning breaks. But we had three days in the entire day of arrival in a car driving to try and find a different hotel if they had informed us it was out. ||Then we did make it out to the pool and the structure behind it collapsed! 3 giant beams fell. Everyone at he pool was in shock. We told staff and they did Nothing! It is unsafe. There were children running around. Someone could be killed. They didn’t even put a warning sign up. The next morning we mentioned it to them again. All they did was remove the chairs that were set up against the building that collapsed. And the structure and roof are still there but all these massive Support beams are what fell down. And my husband and another gentleman in the Pool both said that they were about to move our chairs into their in order to get shades since there are only a couple umbrellas at the entire pool. And no trees. there is no shade.||The entire experience with this hotel was just awful. If I have anything nice to say it’s that dinner at the restaurant was very good and it was also the most expensive place that we ate at on the trip and we ate it some Michelin star restaurants. |I don’t care how nice the Junior suite is, I would never risk staying at this hotel again unless it’s beautiful temps where you could have windows open to sleep. And there are lack of concern for safety of the guest with the structure collapsing was baffling and doesn’t exactly give you confidence that they have concern for the safety of their guests.

Wonderful stay, every staff member we encountered was polite, friendly, professional and courteous; I must have stayed in a different hotel to the poor reviews, because my experience was fantastic. Wine was great, food was brilliant, love the restaurant. Will definitely return.

Beautiful estate and lovely staff. We had a great stop on our way through Europe. The hotel had a nice bar so we could have a glass of sparkling wine in the sun on the terrace. The restaurant was also really good, with a great selection of wines and a gourmet menu. We hope to come back soon!
