Yelp
More of a luxurious stay with great friends than B&B. Five-star service, five-star food, & five-star accommodations/grounds. I'd give it ten stars if I could!
This is THE perfect place to stay when visiting Napa Valley; this place far exceeded every one of my expectations!
Where to begin?
The Chateau is this beautiful home with gorgeous ivy growing all over it. It just oozes charm at every corner. There is no detail left behind or disregarded. From the usual B&B guest books, the CDV water bottle gifted to you, the cookbooks carefully sitting in their dining area, the many magazines & newspapers all available for you, the perfect 'outdoor' wine glasses from govino to enjoy the daily free wine from 3-7pm, the outdoor seating area framed for you to fully enjoy their vineyard and mountain views, the pool to cool off in when it gets too warm, to the beautifully manicured gardens and grounds. It's such a beautiful house that feels like home. And their deck out back was so cozy with breathtaking views of vineyards and mountains. It was wonderful having our breakfast out there every morning.
The owners, Peter & Phillip, are warm, friendly, accommodating, and BEYOND helpful! Phillip was essentially being my travel guide, helping me with winery & restaurant reservations and suggestions BEFORE we even arrived. He is extremely helpful! And you get the feeling that he thoroughly enjoys helping you. That he WANTS to help you enjoy your time. That he ENJOYS being there for any need you may have. I've worked in the service industry and it can be hard. I always feel bad asking people for too much, especially when I can figure it out for myself. But Phillip is so kind, he insists on helping you. So thank you Phillip, thank you for your patience and help from the minute we booked our stay to the minute we had to leave your beautiful chateau.
Peter was also extremely helpful and friendly! We were going to have a picnic, so he got forks & knives (the real stuff, not plastic), napkins, even offered a cooler for any wine we may have. He gave us maps and outlined an itinerary based on what we said we may want to do that day. And every afternoon, after a day of wine tasting & eating, Peter & Phillip would ask about our day, genuinely listening to our thoughts and feedback. How refreshing. Staying here and being around them and listening to them talk to other guests, you can tell they really enjoy what they do. Which makes visiting with them and staying here all the more enjoyable. It's infectious in the best possible way.
The food; my goodness the food is unbelievably amazing. I don't know if Phillip is a chef or he just has a talent with food, but every breakfast was simply amazing. Beautiful creations of fresh pastries and breakfasts. It was all VERY GOURMET! I'm a foodie (like the kind that enjoys good food, not the kind that knows every chef), and this food was NOT your typical B&B food. It was as if we were dining in a gourmet restaurant every morning. But in the comfort of their beautiful chateau, sitting on their beautiful deck, enjoying their beautiful views. And we can't forget Phillip's 'barista' Peter; he makes one mean cappuccino! We couldn't get enough, we'd order two every morning! We're from Seattle, so we're a bit of coffee snobs, but his cappuccinos were divine. It was the perfect way to start each morning; a breakfast of pampering. We wished they could cook us every meal! Their breakfasts were better than most the meals in these 'high-end' restaurants nearby!! Also, there's fresh cheese & fruit plates personally provided in the afternoons; ahhh! :)
We had only one option for the room, so we had the room that had a bathroom across the hall. It was a bit of a pain, but P&P provided plush robes that helped make the trek across the hall workable. Next time, I'm booking my stay MUCH earlier to get a in-room bath. The bed was actually really comfortable and the pillows were comfy and fluffy. Perfect! We actually got a good night's sleep, whereas many times in B&B's and even hotels you don't feel comfortable. The luxury doesn't end there; they even have L'Occitane bath products! My husband now only wants to use L'Occitane shampoo and conditioner! ;)
I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend anyone visiting to stay here! There REALLY is no other comparison! Unless you're thinking of staying in a comparable hotel, but then you'd end up spending $500+/night - and that's just crazy!
If I have one gripe, it'd be that I felt we couldn't NOT have breakfast and that we didn't have the freedom to skip out if we were tired. But that just goes to show that P&P are so attentive! What more can you ask for?!
P&P totally spoiled us. I don't think I can stay at another B&B, ever. I'm not sure I even want to stay at another hotel because it just won't be the same as staying here. It's really the best and blend of staying at a luxury hotel, a B&B, and staying with friends. It's like getting pampered at your friends' luxury estate!
