This place has a lot of potential, but that potential isn’t realised yet. We stayed for 2 nights and when we booked this room, I searched for hotels with air conditioning (on booking.com). We didn’t know about the social media campaign around the renovations that has generated a lot of good reviews from people that watched Youtube but never stayed in the hotel.
The day we arrived, summer started to kick in and the temperatures were above 30 degrees. We were told that there was a ‘problem’ with the air conditioning and that we had to open the windows to sleep; there was also a sort of granny type heater in the room which made me wonder if the hotel was actually finished. When I asked later when the air-conditioning would be fixed, it turned out it wasn’t actually installed… So we opened the windows to sleep..and as expected our night turned into hunting for insects and moths in our room. At this point it felt like camping for 220 euro per night… When we returned to our room the day after, it was even hotter in the room, there was no new water in the sauna and on top of that we had only one towel left.
We also had dinner in the restaurant; the quality of the food is very good for the price, but the staff is quite argumentative… at some point we were scolded like little children that ‘next time’ we should tell the chef about allergies when booking. I also got 2 of the wine pairings after the course…
All the videos on the renovations talk about 4 star hotel bladibla, but it’s clear the hotel lacks leadership to control the egos and maintain quality to justify this price or even dream about being 4 stars. I hope they do at some point as it does have the potential.
