"The Château Dufresne might not be high on most visitors' lists of sights to see in Montréal, but as it is just across the street from both the city's botanical garden and the Olympic Stadium, you may want to drop in if you are in the neighborhood. The mansion was constructed from 1915 to 1918 in the Beaux-Arts style popular in Montréal in those years. The 20,000-square-foot building is modeled on the Petit Trianon at Versailles and is actually two homes in one, as the brothers Oscar and Marius commissioned side-by-side mansions. The château served several different purposes after the Dufresne family lived there, first as a boarding school and later as the home of the Musée d'Art Contemporain. Today many of the rooms have been decorated with early 20th-century pieces, and a permanent exhibition provides an introduction of life in Montréal's East End a century ago. Temporary exhibitions cover a range of topics, including some that highlight the collections of prominent Montréal patrons and others that focus on leading artists in the city."

Nice little museum of a historic home in Montreal. It tells the story of the family and the home. They will store your water bottle at the front. Be aware that there is a lot of nude art in the stained glass windows and sculptures. It felt good to spend some time indoors after being outside.

It's a really nice place to appreciate the old decoration and a heritage well preserved. Good service and knowledge from the lovely team. It's not too big, so we can spend a reasonable amount of time on details.

If you’re curious about private house-museums and want to see how a Montreal bourgeois family lived in the early 1900s, you’ll love this place—it’s totally worth a visit!

It's a neat old place. My sister and I decided it was like a really large duplex. Both "sides" are distinctive. We did a self tour but I think asking guided tour would be well worth it. From the street the place looks closed, but you can find it isn't by going around the back. I wish they had more descriptions for things like the furnishings and plates and things for those simply walking around. In the room dedicated to the adopted daughter - I used my Google translate function to be able to read what it said (I do not spread French). If you go to search and hit the camera, a translate option pops up 😁

The most fantastic Chateau I've visited in a very long time, beyond my expectations. We came on Wednesday afternoon and there was no one, we spent about 2 hours there, only because we took pictures of every crevice and inspected all the beautiful features in extreme detail, there are two floors and a lot of house to see.

Beautiful and magical! Lots of different styles of architecture in one building! The paintings, murals, etc are impressives! I suggest to go in summer during the day since the garden will be prettier. Also, consider going on the first Sunday of the month since it is free for Quebec Resident!

Gorgeous museum, it's an architectural gem in Quebec, not far from the tourist attraction Olympic stadium, but very few people visit. Maybe because the admission fee is a bit too expensive. I would recommend Quebec residents to visit it on the first Sunday of the month.
