"After a thrilling drive along twisting roads, past soaring cliffs and sparkling rivers peppered with pebble beaches, we arrived at this fairy-tale chateau to find a note of magic in the air. Tucked away in the hilltop village of Uzer, it was originally built to protect nearby silver mines, which helped to fund the Crusades. Luckily for us, it’s been reborn as a sumptuous country hideaway: the old dungeon has been transformed into a cinema room with red-velvet chairs, the arched medieval chapel has become a library, and the sprawling suites have been brought back to life with the perfect blend of traditional charm and modern luxury. The only room left untouched is the rococo Winter Garden with its dreamy pastoral fresco. Outside there's a freshwater pool, ancient rose gardens and terraces shaded by cedars and palms, plus a surprise among the trees: gypsy caravans and a romantic cabin for 2 where you can sleep in the most bewitching of settings. We enjoyed blissful days relaxing by the lovely pool and strolling around the jasmine-scented grounds, occasionally venturing out to explore the Ardèche’s towering gorges, picture-perfect hilltop villages and historic cave paintings. We left utterly enchanted by the rambling estate and this spectacular corner of France. This is a lovely B&B. The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Our room was very large with lovely quaint furniture. The communal areas were very nice with books and games to spend one's time. They have a lap pool which we did not use but looked very nice. The breakfast was very nice and they managed to feed me well despite my allergies.||||We did not get to have dinner because the chef was sick. It was a Monday and off season so we could not really find a restaurant, especially as we wanted to eat early - round 6ish. We bought some stuff from the supermarket and had a picnic in the garden which was very pleasant but may not be to everyone's taste. Also be aware, in case you have allergies to cats that there are two cats in the building.

A true paradise! We spent three magical days with Veronique and Eric and can’t praise this place enough. It was a unique adventure that carried us away! Everything was just perfect. From the place, to the beautiful food and the warm welcome, it was a pure delight. We don’t want to spoil the surprise by saying too much so just go with your eyes closed and we can assure you that you will have a unique experience, staying in a castle full of charm, with all the comfort and lots of atmosphere, welcomed by one of of nicest couple we ever met. This is definitely a place we will never forget and definitely go back to.||||A perfect place for a memorable family holiday.

An absolutely exquisite chateau in the luscious Ardèche region of France. If you are contemplating booking, don’t wait! The grounds feel like a secret garden getaway that you’ll never want to leave. The old chateau is artfully decorated and full of history at every turn. During our three-day stay, the hosts were beyond welcoming (with magic!) and the food was divine. I clearly can’t say enough wonderful things about this location! Make sure to rent a car and visit the nearby town of Balazuc!

This is a wonderful, calm place.||The decor is beautiful, the rooms very big, spacious and comfortable.||The summer kitchen was very well stocked and the atmosphere extremely relaxed and welcoming.||The gardens are amazing - lush, tropical and dense and a wonderful escape from reality. The pool area was lovely and we spent hours down there. Very traditional but comfortable.||The breakfast was tasty and plentiful.||||All in all- it felt like a b&b combined with a private villa- although there were lots of other guests there too, we felt as if it was ‘ours’, in a good way! We loved it.||||Nearby we visited beautiful roman villages (eg balazuc) went kayaking and swam in river beaches. We got pizza takeaway and ate in some lovely local places - it was a perfect base.||||I totally recommend it!!

Chateau d'Uzer is a truly magical place in The Ardeche. Veronique, Eric and the staff are so warm, welcoming and attentive, and have clearly invested so much of themselves in the chateau to make it such a relaxing and enjoyable place to be. There are interesting works of art and vintage furniture everywhere. The furnishings are so tasteful and of high quality. The swimming pool is lovely. Attention to detail is obvious wherever you look. We had a wonderful shared "table d'hote" one evening, which was so enjoyable. The breakfasts are excellent. The village of Uzer is superbly situated to explore the region. We had such a wonderful week at Chateau d'Uzer, and are looking forward to a return trip!

A wonderful location - the Ardeche is a forested, secret part of France - and Chateau d'Uzer is a magical place to stay. Eric and Veronique have created a peaceful, sylvan retreat - the rooms are suitably colossal, the gardens and pool restful - other guests were equally relaxed and the long-table dinners on the verandah or in the vaulted dining room (during a dramatic thunderstorm) were a highlight of our trip. ||Conversations with our hosts were interesting and full of local detail - we felt welcomed into the countryside around Uzer, and the recommendations from V and E made our holiday experience unforgettable

We had an amazing time at this charming castle. Our hosts, Veronique and Eric, were welcoming and cooked in Michelin style! They even surprised us with a birthday celebration for one of us! Veronique is also a designer and has a lovely boutique; she also teaches yoga! Eric shared the wonderful history of the castle, invited to see a movie at the theater/dungeon (oubliette), and gave us a mini puppet show! Vegan friendly and friendly all around!

Unexpected wonderful experience. My husband and I loved our short stay. Elegant very french old Château, stunning room, home cinema made our son happy and the hosts were very accommodating and welcoming. Had one of the best traditional breakfasts in France- highest quality super fresh food. Veronique was lovely. Had blissful yoga session. Good memories. We loved it. Great for families and not only. Highly recommended.
