3 Best Day Trips from Sydney | Condé Nast Traveler

"This large-scale luxury resort in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country is the kind of place where you can land your helicopter on the front lawn. With 100 rooms, top-notch golf course The Vintage, a day spa, and conference spaces, virtually every leisure and business pursuit is covered. Book a lesson on the green with Richard Mercer, a pro golfer, then plan for some winery-hopping around Hunter Valley (nearby Bimbadgen and Brokenwood both offer cellar door tastings, and fine dining resto Esca Bimbadgen's wine pairings are on point)." - Sophie Davies

We have just returned from a lovely 2 night stay with our daughters and their partners. Everything about our stay was wonderful. The staff were very welcoming and efficient with looking after us. The boys played golf while us ladies indulged ourselves in the exquisite on site spa. We all enjoyed the buffet breakfast (that even catered for our celiac daughter). The convenience of being able to just park the car and relax was so welcome. Special mention and thanks to Tammy for your smile and kindness.

Very helpful and friendly checkin. Shown to a ground floor room which kind of had a walled off balcony offering no view. We went back and got a first floor room overlooking the golf course for a few bucks more which was worth it. The rooms are frankly a bit dated with kind of 1990s wood, a bit dusty. The lighting wasn't the best and there was only a plug on one side of the bed (pre mobile phones!) Weird old bath in the back of the room and shower and loo. You know it was all fine and we saw kangaroos and perfectly severiceable Australian pub food at Nineteen. We enjoyed our relaxing stay which we used as a base for wine tours.

1 bed kitchen villa Had everything you needed except paper towel, sharp knives, serving bowl & platter. In the process of refurbishing rooms. Bath/ensuite well supplied if a little run down. Should be finished by next visit. Staff as always polite helpful & genuinely obliging - hard to find these days. NSW golf open on - you would never know it was so quiet. Unaccompanied golf buggies navigating the fairways was great entertainment from our patio. Kangaroos & blue tongues very polite visitors (staff have them well trained).

My husband and I booked a mid-week 2 night getaway in winter with Chateau Elan and it was such a lovely stay!! We booked a one bedroom villa and we absolutely loved how homely, spacious and cozy it felt! When we walked in, the gas fireplace was already on, and it was such a nice touch on the windy & cold winter’s day we had. We also played 9 holes of golf at The Vintage before we checked in, which was a lot of fun! The area we stayed in was quiet and discreet, the bed was comfortable & the facilities seemed fairly modern too. We loved that you could see kangaroos jumping on the course from our balcony window! We only ever had 1 issue, and the issue was with connecting to the streamcast on the TV which we couldn’t get to work. But not a big deal to us! We were too busy enjoying all the restaurants and wineries Hunter Valley had to offer anyway 🍷 We would love to stay here again one day in the future!

This place is a bit overrated. The rooms are nice, showers could be cleaner. You have to get in your car to drive to the pool and restaurant which is very annoying. The breakfast was very average and poor selection. The spa is way overpriced and the extra charge for Sunday's is ridiculous. Definitely wouldn't stay here again purely because of the distance to the pool and restaurant. I specifically booked here as there was an adult only section although the pool was overcrowded with kids.

We had a great stay- honestly booked here since said there was kangaroos out your window and that is 100% true! The hot tub is broken right now and we were really looking forward to enjoying that since we came for 2 days during colder/ rainy weather. The staff was nice at check in and the rooms were good. The hotel is tucked back on a golf course so quiet and quant, but everything closes early. I think that is the town not just the resort. Centrally located to all the wineries we went to- being 7-20 minute drive

Lovely location, beautiful golf course, the kangaroos were gorgeous! I would say the rooms need a renovation but they were very clean and tidy! Staff was a little inconsistent but overall we loved our stay and would go back!

I would 100% stay there again!!! The staff are amazing and very nice. Nothing is too hard for them. Spa is a must for anyone. The only downfall, steer clear of the Legends restaurant for dinner. Paid $150 and walked away hungry and my taste buds didnt thank my girlfriend or myself either, bland and boring taste. The breakfast was however perfect every day we stayed. Definitely go for breakfast.
