Château Léognan (Bordeaux, Nouvelle Aquitaine) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once part of a 17th-century estate owned by Saint Jean’s monks, Château Léognan has passed through the hands of shipowners and Bordeaux wine merchants, each leaving their mark. Today, the 173-acre domaine surrounding a 19th century chateau and its chapel is home to a boutique retreat with suites in both the castle and grounds, treehouses hidden in fairy-tale forests, and a dedicated wine pavilion for tastings and workshops. Here, hospitality follows a relaxed rhythm — breakfast arrives when you wake, and a glass of Bordeaux is never far from hand." - Tablet Hotels

Thank you, Château Léognan esp, for the wonderful experience at Le Manège Restaurant. After our intimate civil wedding at our local Mairie, we celebrated our special occasion at your restaurant. Our small group was delighted with the sumptuous food, beverages, and impeccable service provided by your staff. Each different drinks we had was amazing and tasteful. Moreover, the gourmand board we enjoyed was savory. All the main dishes, including beef, pork, lamb, and fish was tender and flavorful. The black forest dessert provided a luxurious ending, and even the ice cream was appetizing. It was truly an excellent gastronomic adventure and an exceptional culinary experience. Kudos to the chef and the entire team. Furthermore, the restaurant ambiance is relaxing and cozy. The washroom also stood out with a nice touch of the washcloth. Additionally, the atmosphere has become more festive since our last visit for food tasting and a walk around the chateau, ensuring our guests will have a memorable experience as we did. I’ve also posted photos from our previous visit, along with friends who dined at your restaurant and purchased your wine. Like us, they appreciated the delicious food and amenities. We look forward to possibly experiencing your hotel, spa, wellness facilities, and other leisure activities to complete our Château Léognan experience. With love and gratitude for the beautiful memories, it’s a privilege to give a top-tier recommendation. Xoxo, Nikki & Marcus

Was looking forward to a quiet place after a week in Paris. It did not get off to a good start as the room we were given had a major bathroom mold/mildew issue that apparently no one felt was important. It felt more like a low budget motel. I was told that they were booked and unable to change rooms. (We were booked for a week.) Finally on Thursday ( arrived Tuesday) housekeeping did some cleaning and it was much improved but the entire bathroom needed some upkeep with grouting. The desk chair had a small hole in the seat and another small chair needed cleaning. What disturbed me most was that there was never an apology for this. |The restaurant was convenient and we ate there 3 times with mixed reviews. Gilles, the concierge , is the bright spot here and set up wonderful winery visits for us. Breakfast is okay but not much variety if you stay longer. The grounds seem to be a work in progress. This place has great potential if more attention is paid to the details.

My family of four visited the Chateau for a night on 3 Dec 2025. We were warmly greeted by the concierge and reception staffs. The building has a rich history to it and was surrounded by beautiful nature. Took the horse carriage ride around the premises to enjoy the views. We had the family room and it was tastefully designed. A wonderful place to relax.

We stayed at Château Léognan for my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived. They surprised us with a complimentary room upgrade, which made our stay feel even more special, and also gave us free access to the spa — such a thoughtful gesture. Dinner at the château was absolutely amazing, with excellent food in a beautiful setting. The whole place has a charming, relaxing atmosphere that makes you feel at ease right away. Overall, it was a truly memorable stay, and I would highly recommend Château Léognan to anyone looking for a special getaway with outstanding service.

Google
Overall experience extremely positive! good breakfast, the chateaus is surrounded by a beautiful park and the SPA is amazing (the two masseuse are very professional and they performed very well). We had a wine tasting tour with Michelle and it was great! The only two suggestions we would like to make are: 1. Coordination among the hotel staff, two many different people replied to our emails causing confusion, 2. Pay more attention to some details such as more privacy in the room (people by mistake entered in our garden and no daily curtains on the window). The Restaurant exceeded our expectations

We stayed in the family suite and it was perfect for our family of four with a teen and tween. It felt like a little bit of luxury in the Bordeaux countryside. A big shout out to Gilles the concierge who planned our stay meticulously. His recommendations were top notch and secured the best tables at restaurants and provided amazing recommendations. Our day in cap ferret was one of our most favourite days of the holiday and he let us into the little secrets of the beautiful beachside town which was less than an hour away from the hotel. His recommendations for wine tastings were wonderful as well! Breakfast was a treat and the lady who ran the restaurant had a lovely smile that started our morning! The only thing missing was a pool and then it would have been 5**! Thank you for a wonderful stay

The breakfast, rooms and environment here was great but what stood out most was the hospitality and service. A special thank you goes to Agatha who was absolutely fantastic! She always had a smile and a positive attitude and was also extremely helpful and efficient. Her positive energy really made our morning! Looking forward to my next visit and would recommend to anyone!

Yelp
The restaurant at Château de Léognan was recommended to us by one of the tour guides at Château La Louvière. Château de Léognan is beautifully situated in hectares of land with horses, trees, an inn and a restaurant. We did not have reservations, but the restaurant was very happy to accommodate our group of 12. They have a really nice and big outdoor area, but as it was raining on and off that day, we had to sit inside. Thankfully, they were able to put four tables together for our big group. We got the menu (I got the one in French and a menu in English was shared by the others in our group) and promptly ordered our entrée to start off our lunch, bottles of sparkling and still waters, and a bottle of white wine. Some of us ordered the Crevette Marinées (shrimp ceviche) which was served in a martini glass, the Œuf cocotte, and the Melba de tomate mozzarella au pistou. Mine was the ceviche and it was good. I really loved the Œuf cocotte. Eggs in France are tastier than the ones in the U.S. and this dish was outstanding. It had a piece of ham on top and the sauce and aromatics in it just made for a really tasty dish. 7 of us ordered the filet bœuf for our main dish, while the other three ordered the fish, the paella and the pork chop. The toddlers just ate their parents' food. The filet was cooked rare. I normally eat my steak medium-rare to medium, so a rare steak is not my usual thing. But it was fine. The beef just melts in your mouth and the sauce was very tasty. Some people in our party were not happy though. We all specified medium and were given a rare steak. My husband had the Pork Chop and I have to say that that was the best pork chop I have ever tasted! The meat was so tender and flavorful with the sauce. Delicious! I'll be dreaming of those pork chops for a while! Sadly, we didn't get to eat dessert! We had another wine tasting appointment at 2 pm, so we had to stop after the main course. Our friendly servers understood our time crunch and brought our dishes in a timely manner. Really love the setting of the restaurant. The glass walls on one side give you a great view of the outdoors and just a few meters behind the restaurant, you can see beautiful horses grazing. If you're looking for an idyllic setting to have lunch in the Graves and Pessac-Léognan appellations, consider this place for lunch!

Yelp
The grounds are gorgeous - take the horse carriage tour! Staff is all friendly and helpful. We had a large, well equipped room which was just what we needed at that point in our trip. Breakfast each morning was simple but tasty. A great diversity of wines, having both left and right bank style blends as well as delicious rosé of cab and Bordeaux Blanc. A delightful setting in the woods and great food to go along with it. Staff could have been a little more attentive but put in a bunch of effort covering for our lack of French.
