I will give detailed descriptions/ information on all my ratings.
Rooms got a 4 out of 5 simply because they don't have any microwaves in them. Not any if the rooms I've been in anyways. I heard the do in some rooms. Just not the ones I've been placed in.
The service got a 5 star rating for the staff going above and beyond for me. Last Thursday, once i arrived at the hotel, my reservation wasn't in. My people forgot to make the call. So, being a wicked snow storm outside and being well last 11pm, they booked me for an over night stay with no money down. Considering I don't have a credit card. They had absolutely no problem doing that for me. As I got it all figured out the next afternoon. Everything went excellent.
The location is where they describe it to be. Walking distance to the TD station. Close to uptown Saint John and to gas station stores. The reason I gave it a 3 out of 5 rating is because if the many homeless that live right there by the hotel. Right across the street they had tents pictured. And even more on the other side of the highway. Honestly, I couldn't believe how much homeless there now is. I used to live in that town over 10 years ago. And, you would never see things like tents set up around with tarps and campers under the bridges/ off ramps. It actually kind of broke my heart a little. But, 8 guess it is what it is.
So, all together I give this hotel a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Because, last but not least, the hotel does not have a swimming pool and/ or hot tub in it. Which is very, very strange if you ask me. Shouldn't ever hotel, especially as fancy as the Chateau Saint John, have a swimming pool in it? Shoot, even the days Inn Fredericton had a pool and hot tub in it. And that's pretty run down with prostitutes working out of it...which is my favorite hotel to stay at while I'm in Fredericton by the way. Next would be the Fredericton Inn. That's a nice one in my opinion. Especially being located right next to the mall. If you never stayed there before, check it out. It's close to everything. And I mean everything you need to go to in the city.
