Château Sainte Sabine (Sainte-Sabine, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This 16th-century landmark is set on a wooded English-style park on the banks of the Canal de Bourgogne, just outside the village of Sainte-Sabine. The building itself was carefully restored, and while many of its original assets have been preserved — grand marble staircases, delicate stained glass windows, period woodwork — Château Sainte-Sabine’s elegant interiors feel fresh and stylish. Rooms and suites are high-ceilinged and modern with quaint details here and there: toile de Jouy wallpaper, exposed wood beams, and four-poster beds. Some have private terraces and soaking tubs. The château’s old hunting lodge, now home to a fireplace bar, is the spot to sip an apéritif while watching the resident deer roam." - Tablet Hotels

This is a lovely small chateau hotel in Burgundy. We stayed here only one night but it was fantastic and I slept wonderfully after dining at the hotel restaurant. Breakfast the next day was a great buffet. All staff members were fantastic. The setting is so so beautiful. My husband and I hope to return one day to stay much longer.

Beautiful setting and building, a really special place for a romantic trip. The staff was super kind and polite and always smiling. The hotel pays attention to small details, personalizing your stay as if you were the only guest around.

Much anticipated visit. Beautiful building, well kept grounds, had 4 nights booked, longer than most guests. Upgraded to a tower room. Nice bed, small bath. Flies everywhere. A/C was out on day 2. Only one fan available, clearly no back up plan. 350 euros a night. Pool well maintained. Excuses for no A/C. Barely got sleep. Room window faces east, bathroom west. Seriously need darker bathroom curtains as sun blazed in. We dreaded going to our room in the evening between the heat and hunting flies. Restaurant was very good but not worth the price. At the end of the stay they comped a smallish bar bill only. Breakfast was very good and breakfast staff outstanding. If you stay here, insist on main building, service seems better there. Front desk staff was fine. So much hope ….. And I get the A/C is not their fault other than no back up plan. A little isolated but we had a car. Probably the most disappointing of a 63 day trip. At least evenings did get a little cool, but not cool enough. Main building or recommend spending that kind of money elsewhere. Ironically, had come from Maison Doucet, Fredrick would have taken care of us.

This XVI century chateau is located in the small village of Sainte-Sabine along the D 970. From the outside it looks splendid, likewise on the inside. There is a magnificently decorated lounge right next to the reception and a decorative staircase at the end of corridor. The small swimming pool is next to the car park with plenty of loungers around it and water and coffee provided there.||From the start, care and attention was afforded to us as soon as we parked the car. ||The check-in was efficient and friendly. Our bags were taken to our room without a fuss and the host showed us around. ||Our corner Prestige Room on the first floor had a great view towards the imposing Châteauneuf-en-Auxois across the wide valley. It was spacious and bright, with big wardrobe and large comfortable bed.||Bathroom was of good size, with His and Hers sinks and a large bath tub. Bathrobes and slippers were provided.||Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided. There was a mini-bar with a selection of drinks.||Water was replenished daily. ||We dined at the Lassey Restaurant. The food was exquisite although the choice was rather limited. Wine list was adequate. We tried out restaurants in the neighbouring Vandenesse-en-Auxois (recommended) and Châteauneuf-en-Auxois (definitely not recommended!) for something different.||Breakfast was served on the terrace throughout our stay. It was rather limited though with a good fresh fruit selection. ||Overall it was a fabulous place to stay and very peaceful.

We arrived to Château Sainte Sabine for a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our stay there was beyond words! The service throughout our stay by the staff at the front desk was impeccable, when they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. We received an upgrade, with a truly indulging room with a view to cherish, so much so , that we didn't really want to leave it, while we were there. Thank you so much!

I had passed this hotel on at least 15 occasions whilst being in France inc in 1985 at a gite in the village just to the south, Pasquier (Paquier on Michelin maps). |So this was a chance to stay here and we were not disappointed.|You arrive though the main gate off the D970, south of Pouilly-en-Auxois, and at the north end of the village of Ste Sabine. The gravel drive leads towards the main building with the car park on the left, which has E charging. Two of our party went though the entrance to what might be described as a courtyard and to the reception which is on the left hand side. One of them returned with someone to take our main cases. We were then taken to the terrace and were given a drink. This has a view over some of the grounds inc the grass area in front, with two cow statues, a small lake and on to the village of Chateauneuf which is a sight in itself.|Then we were taken to our room, which was in also in the main building. It was up a marble staircase and up on to the next floor by way of a wooden spiral staircase. There are lifts also available if needed.|The room was not huge but perfect and all you would need. The view was was an extended view as from the terrace. One thing is noticeable is the loads of House Martins which nest on the building. One young one landed on the window sill just inches away from me and looked at me to say "who are you?" as if it had never seen a human so close, as it almost certainly had not.|There is a swimming pool for those who feel the need but a walk round the grounds and the village of Ste Sabine was all I needed.|So to the evening meal, it's best to reserve a table as the restaurant is also popular with people not staying at the hotel.|The menu is in French and English, so my French food dictionary was made redundant for the the third hotel out of three on this trip.|There was a reasonable menu, not huge but I think would cater for all tastes. The food was excellent. The wine might be considered expensive but given the location and the area perhaps not a great surprise. The Aloxe-Corton we had was superb. |No issues with sleep quality at all and a nice early am walk around the grounds before breakfast.|Due to the good weather breakfast was served on the terrace. A lady showed up to our table and took our order for hot drinks. The rest is a buffet service and there was plenty of choice. The lady came back to check on further hot drink requirements.|She and all the other staff we were in contact with were friendly and accommodation. There really seem to warm to you as their guests. |I just cannot wait to go back.

This hotel is so magnificent, so wonderful and so perfect that I was desperate to look at the few negative reviews just to see if it was even possible that someone did not have a stellar experience here. We stayed for two nights and honestly, it was simply magical. The rooms are elegant and appointed with every imaginable amenity. The grounds are out of a fairly tale and staying here feels like the most perfect escape from the rest of the world. The staff cannot do enough for you. The only think that one should be aware of is that the hotel/chateau is pretty isolated and the nearest town of any size is quite a distance away. If there was a way to leave this hotel six stars I would.

My wife and I spent several days at the chateau in the first part of June. Our experience was everything we had hoped for. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful--ready to do anything to make our stay the best. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. A bottle of champagne was waiting for us in the room when we arrived. On the second day, several of the staff gathered a bouquet of flowers from the gardens and placed them in a vase in our room. The chateau itself and the surrounding grounds are incredibly beautiful and picturesque. It is an experience we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
