Château Saint-Maire is a castle located at the northern end of the hill in the City of Lausanne. At the end of the 14th century , under the episcopate of Guy de Prangins , the Bishopric had become too small and no longer provided the necessary security for the bishops. May 5, 1396, Bishop Guillaume de Menthonay obtained from the Pope the right to move the Saint-Maire convent and to build on its site a fortified castle. When it was built, it overlooked the south of the city and controlled the access road via Mont , to the north. The castle owes its name to Marius of Avenches , a bishop also called Saint Maire. Marius is considered to be the bishop who transferred the bishopric, the year 581 in this safe place, when the pressure from the Germanic peoples coming from the north became increasingly significant .

Nice platform. The view is not specifically good but quiet and relaxing.

We've been here twice, but never had the luck of visiting this castle and see the inside.

A historic landmark that’s probably better seen from a distance but not actually worth going to as it’s closed to public and like many pointed out you only have the view from the parking lot. The lookout view is so-so and the tower further north is actually better. Overall, there are other places (e.g., the Olympics Museum) that would be a far better use of your time especially for a day trip.
