We had 2 nights here before heading off in our cave expedition. It was a lovely couple of days. The welcome was warm, our bungalow was huge with a nice shower room. We enjoyed the free kayak the first day and explored on the bicycles next morning. The swimming pool is really lovely. The restaurant serves a great variety of food. I especially recommend the signature pork with lemongrass and chilli dish. Shout out to staff member Hung who was very friendly indeed.

We stayed here one night after our cave tour and everything was really great! We were exhausted from our trek and the warm welcome and lovely staff was just what we needed. The bungalow rooms are beautiful and spacious, the showers are clean and I never ran out of hot water. Lots to do including bicycles, kayaks and a beautiful pool. We wished we could have stayed longer!

The farmstay is awsome. The air itself is incredibly crisp and pure, and a delightful coolness that invigorates the soul. Majestic mountains rise all around, their ancient, craggy faces softened by lush greenery, creating a breathtaking panorama that shifts with the light. Beyond the stunning scenery, the culinary experience is a true highlight. Each dish served is a delightful journey into the heart of local flavors, prepared with fresh, regional ingredients that sing on the palate. What truly elevates the experience, however, are the wonderfully charming staff. Their warm smiles and genuine hospitality make every interaction a pleasure, ensuring you feel right at home in here.

The service was very good, but the place seemed understaffed. The workers were having to run just to keep up. The front desk especially were very responsive and helpful. And the restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was very sparsely furnished, there wasn't even a chair inside, so the only place to sit was the bed. There was only one bedside table, which didn't have a switch, so you had to unplug it if you wanted to turn it off. Lastly, there was no bench or table space, so nowhere to keep your make-up or charge electronics, etc. Lastly the 'spar' area has no doors, so was open to the elements, and had lots of insects attracted to the lights. The food was basic but of acceptable quality. The restaurant prices were quite high, which was unfortunate, as the location in the country meant that there were no alternative shops or restaurants nearby. The view from the room was beautiful.

My 2 brothers and I just returned from an amazing stay at the Chay Lap Farmstay! The staff, food, natural beauty and accommodations are fantastic. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding caves. We did the overnight trip to Hang En Cave also organized by Oxalis - again everything was timely and organized and staffed by knowledgeable and funny people.||But the most amazing thing was how the staff at the kayak dock (which is also affiliated with the hotel) - Mr. Dung in particular- helped me. I stupidly took my phone with me and like a true clown I dropped the phone over the side of the kayak and into the River. Within seconds, Mr. Dung was literally diving into the water trying to locate my phone. After maybe 10 minutes I had pretty much given up. But when I was swimming back to the dock, Me. Dung emerged with my phone. And the crazy thing was that it still worked! I can’t recommend these folks or this place enough and I hope I can get back soon. Thanks Chay Lap Farmstay and Mr. Dung in particular!

Decent, simple airconditioned rooms. We stayed for 2 nights before an oxalis tour - kitchen was quite good but staff seemed to be a bit “checked out” with a couple of notable exceptions (the bartender was quite good). ||For example, reception advised us about biking into the town - to use the ferry - but had no idea how much it costs (it’s the main route to the town). Also advised about visiting the Dark cave but had no information about services/prices etc. It seemed strange to not have this basic information when these are the most popular activities. (Also entirely inconsistent with the above standard - truly excellent service we received on our Oxalis tour) ||Also, they absolutely require you to wear a life jacket if you want to swim at the riverside. My husband wanted to swim for exercise (do laps in the river) and the staff at the waterfront were “freaking out” (calling out that he had to get out of the water, making nervous phone calls to their boss etc) - better to just take the kayak around the corner (out of their eyesight) and then get out and swim. ||Down the river towards the dark cave there is a wonderful swimming point with crystal clear water that is actually cool and much nicer than the river at the chay lap waterfront. ||The bikes and kayaks were much appreciated!

was a fantastic stay and one of the best options in the area. From the moment you arrive, the entrance sets the tone — lush greenery, friendly staff, and a calm, inviting atmosphere. The property is made up of beautifully designed huts and buildings spread out across a well-kept landscape. Each structure has its own charm, blending traditional touches with comfort. It really feels like a peaceful retreat in nature. The pool is a highlight — perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. They also offer massage services on-site, which is a nice bonus if you’re looking to unwind. Bikes are available for rent, making it super easy to get to nearby attractions like the Dark Cave and other cave experiences just minutes away. Yes, you’ll probably spot a few bugs — it’s a farmstay in rural Vietnam after all — but nothing unexpected for the setting, and definitely not enough to take away from the overall experience. If you want something a bit more high-end while staying close to Phong Nha’s adventures, this place delivers. Peaceful, scenic, and full of character.

Relaxing place out in the countryside, around 10min drive from Phong Nah. Quite quirky with a nice feel to it. Clean and well maintained, great poolside bar and restaurant with great quality food and drinks. Excellent express laundry service. Close to the river with all sorts of activities from caves to kayaking.
