Classy and sophisticated ambience. Live music at 6:00 p.m. on weekends. Service was excellent! I ordered the French dip with fries. Four stars because the au jus was amazing!

Great atmosphere and ambiance with great live jazz. Server was attentive, friendly, and warm. My wife and I stopped in for a dessert - the butter cake (the only thing we tried). The plating consisted of the cake, a drizzle of brown butter bourbon caramel, a root beer reduction, and white chocolate mousse, with crumbled toasted waffle cone pieces. The root beer flavor absolutely overwhelmed everything. I like root beer, but I wanted to taste the other components, which was hard/impossible with the root beer. We ordered a side of the caramel and white choc mousse for the last bite. The caramel was fantastic on its own and greatly enhanced the butter cake flavor. The mousse tasted astringent - like over steeped tea made with cacao nibs. In our humble opinion: definitely get this, but without the root beer and mousse, and ask for a small side of whipped cream and side of caramel to drizzle on to your liking. Put the root beer reduction on some vanilla ice cream with those cone pieces for a deconstructed root beer float. Mmmm. Would definitely come back to give them another shot.

I decided to go to Chaz for my wife and I's 33rd wedding anniversary. We have heard good things and was excited to try Chaz for the first time. When we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation, I showed them my conformation, and they apologized for missing it. Because they couldn't find the reservation, the sat us down on this tiny table, and made us feel they had to fit us in. I first want to say the food was good, but we never initially received our appetizer. We asked about the appetizer, which they brought it out to us with no charge, but it was after we had already had dinner. I wanted this to be a special night, and all we received. were apologies over and over again. We had to ask for water refills, it was just not the evening we had planned. For such a nice place, it was a mess. To top it off, we valleted our new car, only to find out that they damaged our car. Now we have wait to see if they will fix it. Not the anniversary I wish we had.

The salad was small but had very good flavor. The best was the Hanger Steak Diane, perfectly cooked steak with a great sauce. The shrimp and grits were alright. They had plenty of other options that looked good, worth going back to try I think. 7/10 would recommend

First of all, the Chaz is located in one of my favorite hotels of them all, The Raphael. You can feel the history here. So quaint. I’ll often stop down and catch some groovy live jazz being played nightly by a 2-3 person band. I also love their breakfasts. I promise you will not find a better tasting yogurt on the planet.

We celebrated our wedding here, with a small group, after the ceremony. The food was amazing, and the staff made us feel so special! Even playing a song for us to dance too!

We were in town for a concert on a Sunday night. The Raphael gave us $150 credit for dinner with the Sunday Getaway package. The vibe of the place was relaxing and elegant. The Steak Diane is a signature dish and it was amazing! The drinks were pretty and tasty. If in town, don't skip Chaz! Friendly service. Hopefully next time we can stay for the live jazz show!

My fiance and I went to Chaz to celebrate my birthday and it was so good we went back two weeks later. Everything about this place is exceptional. SERVICE: Each time or waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Alive with personally and focused on making sure your dining experience is exceptional. Not only able to make recommendations but able to explain each dish, it's origins, and suggest perfect pairings. The service alone is worth coming for FOOD: The food is exceptional! Make it a point to try the chefs "mushrooms of the day" you cannot go wrong. We have yet to order anything that was not prepared to perfection and the flavor profiles are remarkable. Skipping a dessert is a BIG mistake. DRINK: Home of one of my two most favored drinks in KC: The Hazy Haden. The glass comes out over a small burner to fill it with smoke and then you add Basil Hayden at your leisure. An experience and a delight ATMOSPHERE: Very charming, quaint and romantic. It's easy to feel like the only people in a completely full restaurant. This place is a genuine 10/10.

Yelp
We come here on our birthdays. It's a thing we do now, as ol' Hank sings its family tradition. The food is good here. I like the steaks, but this time I got the lamb and it was good, but I only got two chops. I feel like 3 is the de facto standard on lamb. The best thing on my plate was the garlic roasted carrots, delicious. My wife got the Chilean sea bass and she liked it and the crispy Brussels were tasty. The restaurant is nice and cozy and they have a definite old school KC vibe going on. Probably has something to do with the live jazz band or the fact it's the Raphael Hotel's restaurant. The hotel is worth a stay if you visit from out of town. It supposedly haunted but we ain't never seen no ghost. The service is good. There used to be a waiter and manager here we really liked, but they moved on. Oh well, cie la vie as we say in NOLA. We still always have good service and tonight was no exception. Long story short we come here all of the time. It's our little hidden gem on the plaza in KC. Maybe I shouldn't leave a review. Never mind, it was terrible 1 star. Just kidding, but keep it to yourself. We don't want it to become so busy no one ever goes there anymore

Yelp
One of the best hotel bars I have ever been in. The Chaz is located in the basement of the Raphael. I love a great cocktail and our bartender was friendly and made my coworker and I great cocktails to end a cold day on the road. The food here was also amazing. The next morning I came down and had a great eggs benedict. One of the last of the great old school hotels.

Yelp
Lovely spot on the Plaza in the Raphael hotel. A great intimate bar as our guest gathered gave us time to settle. Dinner was fabulous, all 4 gave high praise. Lobster bisque a winner, preceded sea bass. Service was grand, food tops plus a nice wine list. This was a nice after Kauffman Arts Center place to meet. Enjoyed gated secure parking in the back. We shall return.

Yelp
Super convenient if you're staying at the Raphael! Open later than most hotel restaurants in my experience, so appreciated that after getting in later in the evening following a flight delay. The food is good enough and I appreciate the menu updates from time to time. Lowkey, breakfast is where they shine - the eggs were perfectly scrambled and who doesn't love some brisket? That said, the traditional eggs Benedict gets my biggest recommendation - I didn't take a photo (sorry!) because I couldn't wait to dig in. Ambiance is very old money jazz and they have live music in the evenings!

Yelp
We had a great date night at Chaz! The building is gorgeous, and I loved the little private nooks for intimate dining. The music was great. The beef Wellington was OK. The meatballs were very good. I enjoyed my cocktail and when ordering and concerned it might be too sweet she offered that they could make it less sweet. Our server, Katherine, was outstanding in every way. The food is traditional Midwest food and we like a little more adventurous so we might not be back just the two of us. When it comes to taking people out- this would be one of the top on our list.

Yelp
Kansas City gem! Chaz serves up amazing vibes, delicious food, and live jazz music. Loved their Winter Menu! Highlights: refreshing Chazberry cocktail, cozy Potato Leek Soup, Pan Seared Scallops with an amazing Squash plated presentation and tender Flat Iron Steak with unreal Romesco sauce. Don't miss the Chocolate Mousse--so rich but not too sweet!

Yelp
I'm going to leave a completely honest review. To start the customer service was absolutely amazing our waitress was so kind and checked in on our needs, however the food was not as good as I was expecting I went with what was popular the Diane steak based on the reviews I was disappointed, the steak hardly had any flavor, the mashed potato's had no flavor and the spinach was okay. We ordered Mac n cheese for an appetizer and the smoked tomatoes on top had a very distinct taste to it and the cheese wasn't sticking to the noodles. The dessert I ordered was the butter cake and when it came out it wasn't cake but a really hard brownie for the quality of the food it wasn't the best. However I did enjoy the live jazz and wonderful staff.

Yelp
A great place to have a great time, nice jazz music and cocktails. Attentive and timely service.. Recommended! I'll be reviewing the food in my next visit.

Yelp
Went to Chaz for my birthday last week. It had been on my list for years and finally went and I wasn't disappointed. It was a quiet Monday and they had a jazz trio playing at the other end of the cozy restaurant space. It was quite empty but this was the day after Mother's Day so I suspect that folks were taking the day off. My parents were already seated when we arrived. We were next to the window so had a nice view towards the plaza. The waitress was very prompt and got all our orders in quickly. Food also came out quite quickly as well. Everyone really liked their food. We shared the calamari appetizer. I got the steak Diane (the potatoes in particular were delicious) and I tried my boyfriend's Wellington - also delicious. We wrapped up the meal with ooey gooey butter cake. I thought it was a bit overbaked but the flavors were nice. Only other thing that took this from a 5 star to a 4 star review is that a woman who was seated alone rig her next to us talked on the phone the entire meal. The restaurant was 75% empty so it was pretty obnoxious. Not sure what they could do once they sat her but it was irritating to be in an empty restaurant listening to someone talk on her phone all night. But other than that, wonderful experience and great food. I'd definitely recommend for any special occasion or just a night out with friends and family.

Yelp
Wow! This is my favorite place I visited during my stay in Kansas City. My friends and I came here for dessert and to listen to some live jazz. Both were incredible. Our server was very friendly and genuine. My friend even got the chance to sing with the musicians. The desserts were delicious as well. I highly recommend the chocolate mousse tart. Everything about my experience here was wonderful and I made some great memories!

Yelp
We had reservations and there was no one there, as it was a Monday in January. We were seated by a server station with curtains that were open. We politely asked to move. We were then seated by the kitchen. Ridiculous and we will never return. Food was subpar and overrated.
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful live jazz every night in an intimate, romantic setting. Prices are very reasonable for such a nice place. Friendliest service imaginable. On our second night we felt like old friends. Highlights included the shrimp cocktail, which is deconstructed so you can adjust the spicy sauce and horseradish to your taste. Duke Wellington is a short ribs take on the classic Beef Wellington. Excellent wine list with reasonable prices.

Yelp
My husband and I made a reservation with Chaz on the plaza for our marriage anniversary. We had such a great experience. The bread and butter was delicious. Neither of us drink so we were happy that we could choose a mocktail from the menu. My husband is a burger guy so he tried the burger and was very impressed. I ordered the fillet and the meat was tender and juicy and cooked my preferred way. We couldn't leave without trying the creme brûlée which was just absolutely perfect. Highly recommend! Chaz also offered brunch so my husband and I will be back!

Yelp
This is a place I have driven by numerous times and have never gone in, but I urge everyone to try it out. It's a hidden gem. I was invited to a summer menu tasting and the chef knows what he's doing with all the flavors. We started off with the citrus goat cheese salad which had butter lettuces, pepitas, poached citrus, goat cheese, pickled red onion, and savory quinoa. The second course was pan seared scallops, oh my goodness was I in love with the sauces the scallop was sitting on. The plate includes wild caught scallops, citrus carrot purée, pea butter, grilled asparagus, and savory quinoa. And then the third course was New Zealand lamb chops, the chef was letting his play on middle Eastern seasonings shine on this plate. It included harissa and honey rubbed New Zealand lamb chops, quinoa, spinach, pickled golden raisins, almonds and curry butter. WOW! To all the flavors my taste buds took in that day. And then to end the meal of course dessert, I had the lemon blueberry cheesecake which was new York style cheesecake with lemon crème and blueberry preserves. They have a brunch menu too so I am excited to check that out. During the week they have a jazz concert series too, so great for all you jazz lovers and a cherry on top to a great meal.

Yelp
Service is beyond anything I have ever experienced. Wonderful staff! Food was very tasty and ambiance super enjoyable, but the service is what I would go back for. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

Yelp
My Wife and I love everything about the Chaz. We love the historic hotel it's connected to, and have stayed there several times. We love their Brunch and in the past loved how they coupled it with Jazz. Now they have Jazz every night with their meal, from 6-10 and we have enjoyed that several times as well! It's fantastic food and service, and a sweet vibe with the live Jazz. Don't miss out on this place!

Yelp
Everything was amazing!!! The service, food, wine and ambience was better than I expected. I highly recommend for a romantic dinner. Can't wait to go back and try their burgers- they looked amazing.

Yelp
Chaz is a great restaurant. Location is perfect in downtown Kansas City and specifically close to the 'Plaza'. The servers are excellent and provide good details about the meal or area if you have any questions. Overall the quality of food is fantastic! I have not been at the jazz music nights but I would have high expectations!

Yelp
We reserved this restaurant while staying at teh Raphael Hotel for a celebration dinner. We let the restaurant know of the celebration. We were seated at a small table and the food wasn't good. I had seafood and my husband had pork chops. Both dishes lacked flavor and mine didn't match the description. We also ordered the cheese tray, which was terrible (low on cheese and the cheese offered was nothing special). I hate to give a poor review, but wouldn't want another couple who is trying to celebrate to waste their night out and money on this restaurant.
google avatar

Peter I.

Yelp
This is why we travel and oh how I've missed these nights. We are staying at The Raphael and heard about Chaz from the hotel staff. So, we wander down around 6 to this beautiful room with a two piece duo playing. Michael and his staff are immediately on it with a huge smile and welcome. We get a table right in front and the fun starts. We order from Tyler and martinis and old fashioned somehow show up. The music from these two guys, Dana and (?) was so unbelievably great. You can grab a 4 page single spaced booklet of songs to request!!!! Wow. They played the combined score of Wizard of Oz that blew me away. Just awesome! Kobe meatballs and a wonderful cheese plate followed with a glass of wine we just smiled. Kansas City at its best!

Yelp
Chaz has surprisingly become quite the staple for my parents and myself! Probably because they have continued to play live music during COVID, or at least they started playing earlier than everybody else did after lockdown restrictions relaxed a bit! The drinks are great and I had their zoodles and really liked those. I've never had a full meal here, but everything on the menu looks yummy and if their appetizers and sides are any indication of their entrees, I'm sure they are great. This is a nicer place, so I recommend going for a date night to hear some music and have some eats. It doesn't really have a casual vibe, so just keep that in mind. Overall, this is definitely a place we will keep returning to!

Dan D.

Yelp
The atmosphere, food, and staff are all amazing, and the service was very efficient! They have light live music every night and this one lady's voice was incredible. I believe her name was Emily. She sounded like the audio came straight from a recording it really was awesome. Also shoutout to Ben, Brie, and Lyann, as I got to meet them all and they were all so friendly!

Yelp
We were kicking ourselves for waiting so long to return here. It had been more than 4 years... We travel quite a bit and have been to KC quite a few times; just not in the Country Club area. For our 25th anniversary we decided to stay at the attached (and fabulous) Raphael Hotel, so we booked the Sunday Night Special to get a dinner and stay package. We got to our table and enjoyed the lovely live music while looking over the wine list. Since it was a special occasion we splurged a bit on a nice bottle of champagne and started enjoying it while deciding on our dinners. My wife got the Half Citrus Greens Salad - which was fresh, zingy, and declicious! She shared a few bites with me and we both enjoyed it very much. We also really enjoyed the fresh breads. We sipped our champagne and awaited our entrees. They arrived and looked fantastic! My wife got the Chaz Salmon and I got the Lamb Pappardelle. The salmon was perfectly prepared, and the smoked tomato jus was out of this world. My entree's lamb meatballs were a great burst of lamb flavor with delightful pappardelle that was wonderfully complimented by the herby beef jus. Even though we were stuffed, we figured we had to try some dessert. I got the Black Forest German Cake - delightful! I was worried it might be too 'cherry-forward' as is the case at some places, but the cherry was a subtle compliment to the fabulous cake and topping. My wife got the strawberry sorbet, which our server Mauricio said was a 'wonderful choice'. I figured that was just a good server doing his job, but the sorbet had a quality I've not experienced before. The berry flavor was so distinctive and fresh and blended in so well that it was almost like eating fresh strawberries. Service was fantastic with all the staff contributing to the experience. We've vowed to come back at least every year to just enjoy a special night out. HIghly, highly recommended.

Yelp
The food is decent. The service is friendly. That's worth two stars. But the restaurant is totally not handicap accessible. There are many stairs to enter and no elevator. The restrooms are down on an even lower level. It brought me to tears to attempt all those stairs since I walk badly and do not have strength or balance. I can't go back there and that's a shame. The hotel or owners must not care at all. I hope they never end up disabled in any way, but if they do they will then understand. Of course I have other choices of restaurants, and it seems that's where the owners of Chaz hope people like me will go.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
I love everything on this menu! It's pricey because you are not only getting amazing food, but amazing atmosphere. If you want to have intimate conversations, romantic date, or even enjoy fine dining solo I can't recommend Chaz enough. The staff is

Yelp
I have been planning to come to this place because I checked their reviews here on Yelp and I know this is the best app to find a reason to try new places. We get a reservation but at the moment inside we decided to seat in the bar area. Let me tell you that the entrance makes this place very romantic, attractive, and interesting to go in and see what else could be more impressive. This place is a great example of to say how looking outside could be the same or better inside and my words were short. The staff was very cordial, knowledgeable, caring, and very professional. I tried the lamb dish which I requested to be rare and juicy... I can't describe the explosion of flavors my palate tasted. We are planning to make this place one of our favorites.
google avatar

Yelp
The vibe was great. They had a two pc jazz band, the wait staff were knowledgeable and responsive. We are vegan and they were able to make menu modifications to our satisfaction. Also enjoyed the wine. Will be back!
google avatar

Sari C.

Yelp
The vibe of this place is definitely the old-school classic part of the plaza. It feels like you are sitting in a bit of history. Chaz is located in the historic Raphael Hotel. I have been for KC Restaurant Week as well as other dinners. My meal here is always very delicious. I am always pleasantly surprised by the range of people dining at the restaurant. It is nice to see people of all ages. They always generously fill wine glasses which I appreciate. I have ordered the hanger steak multiple times and It is always so delicious! It is definitely a restaurant you want to go when you are looking to splurge a bit more. The bacon wrapped dates are also amazing and a great thing to start with before your meal. The staff generally is very friendly and helpful with any questions regarding the menu. I also love that they have live music. The vibe of this restaurant is perfect for a small band to offer live music. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nicer restaurant to get some delicious food!

Yelp
to be honest......disappointing. Why? the location, the venue, the lounge and restaurant and live music were superb, awesome, classy, fantastic, come again kind of place BUT......the food....well was not to use bad words, simply disappointing. Maybe it was just the Sunday night I was there and they must have had a ringer chef who shouldn't be cheffing! First the lobster bisque* had a funky not very inviting tart flavor to it making me wonder is it supposed to taste this way or maybe it went bad but they served it anyway? I have never sent soup back to the kitchen so this was a first for me. The fried calamari*** was an adequate replacement, not the best but acceptable. And mind you acceptable is not really acceptable at such a fine venue such as the Chaz on the Plaza at the Raphael Hotel. My entree was scallops*** which themselves were acceptable. Not great, not even delicious but acceptable and see what that means above. The side of asparagus* was awful. Wilted, then reminded me of the peanuts xmas special where Charlie Brown finds a Christmas tree. Yeah, sorry looking tree and asparagus. Even dessert could have been better! Homemade vanilla and chocolate ice cream. You could tell it was homemade since there were crystals of undissolved sugar coating one side of the chocolate ice cream. Made it crunchy! not creamy like I was expecting. Oh well, live and learn. Bottom line is the quality of the venue, location, lounge and bar are really 5 star, the music was a duo with a violinist doing popular music. That was really awesome. Classy venue to dress up not down for. I will come back for a drink in the lounge and the music but will not eat here again.

Yelp
Everything was wonderful! The setting is intimate, warm and festive with live jazz. The mushroom appetizers (mushroom flight and mushroom toast) are the November specials and absolutely exquisite. Steaks were cooked to perfection. The Scottish Salmon and Pan Seared Scallops were delicious as well. The wine selection was great. And..the view from our table to the Plaza Lights was dreamy!

Yelp
Just an update from my first review. Chaz has consistently been a great place for us to enjoy a nice dinner and this occasion was no different. We went to celebrate my wife's dinner which I included in the reservation and upon checking in with the hostess they both wished her happy birthday and got us quickly seated. Our server Jodie was very friendly and took care of us and all the other tables in our section. When it got busy she was literally running back and forth from the kitchen making sure everyone was taken care of.
google avatar

Brent H.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, live jazz, good service. Had the calamari and steak. Mine was supposed to be medium rare but came out medium they were kind enough to comp it from the bill. The food is fairly decent for the price but I would expect just a bit more for a somewhat upscale place. The cocktail list is a bit lackluster but the Old fashioned and espresso Martini are good.
google avatar

Shivani S.

Yelp
Nice and intimate spot. Robust wine menu. Food came out quick. Lobster bisque and risotto were too salty, but scallops and bacon wrapped dates were excellent. Bar was popular on a Saturday night!
google avatar

Larissa W.

Yelp
Came here for a spontaneous, romantic dinner and luckily they were able to accommodate us in the bar area. The restaurant had a slight vintage vibe to it, which I loved. We ordered a couple cocktails, a cheese plate, the steak diane, and the NY strip steak. The cocktails were pricey but delicious, while the cheese plate was disappointing. $18 for a very small amount of cheese with a little bit of fruit and nuts does not justify the price tag. But the steak diane with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach was absolutely amazing. And the NY strip was also extremely tasty. Our server was very attentive and besides the slight hiccup of the cheese plate, it was a perfect dinner. We'll definitely be back for more.

Kayla G.

Yelp
We loved the burger last year around this time but their recipe changed it is not as good so we stopped going. Staff is great!

Yelp
I was in Kansas City for work and trying to find somewhere to have a nice meal within walking distance from my hotel. I was looking for something that I can't find in my home town and just happened upon this restaurant (thanks yelp) and am so happy I did. The meal was truly amazing and just thinking about it makes me wish I could go back. I had the steak Diane after reading the description on the menu, though interesting, it wasn't definitely something outside my normal comfort zone. But after the first bite I was hooked; all the flavors blended so well together it is truly an awesome experience that words can't describe only your taste buds can.

John A.

Yelp
Went for drinks after a long day and sat at the bar with my wife. Bartender, I believe his name was Richard, was attentive and knowledgeable. He pored me three glasses of Nikki, Coffee Grain (throughout the night) and the wife a virgin margarita-is currently on meds. He also helped with our selection of an appetizer, bacon wrapped dates, which were heavenly and went well with my Japanese Whiskey. They had a Jazz Duet of guitars, apparently they showcase Jazz nightly, which were great sounding and added to the romantic setting. The staff also helped us order room service for our daughter who was upstairs at Rafael. Extremely helpful. The Chaz serves as the kitchen for the Rafael. We will be back in July to enjoy the drinks, service, and good music.

Yelp
Chaz on the Plaza is an incredible restaurant, from the time we arrived the management team ensured we were seated promptly and check on us throughout our dinning experience. The flavors of all the food is bold and well balanced. We tried many of the menu items and they were all noteworthy. We started our meal with Kobe & Foie Gras Meatballs, Bacon Wrapped Dates, and the Chaz Lobster Bisque. The soup and appetizers were incredible. Our entrees consisted of Chilean Seabass and Scallop Vichyssoise, both meals were extremely flavorful and cooked to perfection. Whether you visit this restaurant for a special occasion or ordinary dinning experience, Chaz on the Plaza exceeds expectations for any occasion. This is a top-notch restaurant and I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

Yelp
Fantastic, The staff made it extra special celebrating my wife's retirement! The food was delicious, everything from the steak Diane (signature) to the Chilean sea bass was top notch. We had a gorgeous view of the city from our table. It is very conveniently located at the Marriott hotel too. Please enjoy this restaurant!!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing, highly recommend!! My friend and I came here on a night when many other places were busy. We were seated immediately, and the hostess and server were extremely friendly. I got the chocolate martini, which was to die for - and quite strong too, i may add! The price was extremely reasonable. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Enjoyed a nice night out with live music and friendly service. We enjoyed our meals and nice wine selections. Very cozy and pleasant atmosphere

Yelp
What a charming gem on the ground floor (separate entrance) of the Rafael Hotel. Dark wood paneling adds to the quiet ambiance. I did not expect the high quality food, excellent service and wonderful violin and cello music (on Sunday nights) at a "hotel restaurant." Highly recommended.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful evening at Chaz on the Plaza during Kansas City Restaurant Week. They seated us by the window overlooking the Plaza and a view of the live musicians who were performing in the small bar area. It's been awhile since we've dined at Chaz and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate and the food is delicious. The meal started with warm bread and crackers. I ordered the 365 Salad and my husband enjoyed the roasted mushroom and potato bisque. The salad was unique with marinated olives, tender mixed greens, roasted herb potatoes, artichokes, and a delicious vinaigrette. The bisque was a velvety, smooth swirl of both potato and mushroom cream soup. Next we both enjoyed the Kobe hanger steak, served with truffle mashed potatoes and lightly sauced creamed spinach. Oh my Lord was it delicious! Absolutely one of the best entrees I have been fortunate enough to enjoy in Kansas City. For dessert we tried both the Saint Malo cheesecake and the chocolate mousse torte. The torte was wonderful, especially with the last of our bottle of red wine and the cheesecake was nice as well with apples and a salted caramel sauce. To make the evening even better, we moved over to the bar after dinner and enjoyed a few drinks with music. The bar is small but lively and offers live music on several evenings throughout the week. We are adding Chaz to our list of favorites now. The regular menu is quite pricey but a worthy splurge for a perfect date night!

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this place. Has an old school vibe with live music. The music is not too loud where you can talk to your companion and be heard. We started with a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir which was pretty good. I ordered a crab cake as an appetizers and my colleague ordered the Raphael salad. Our appetizers took a long time. The waiter came over and admitted he forgot our orders. He offered a free dessert or appetizer which was nice. The crab cake was good but nothing special. I'd give it a 3/5. My colleague enjoyed the salad and gave it a 3/5. It had a lot of cheese and apples and a very small amount or arugula. We both ordered the filet of beef. The filets were a bit overcooked but ok. I did not enjoy the chaz sauce. It was like ketchup and mustard mixed together. Did not add to the steak. It actually took away from the flavor of the steak. Overall we enjoyed our dinner but would try something different next time.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience here. The food was superb- i highly recommended the scallops and skirt steak. The bacon wrapped dates were also delicious. Service was great and the jazz topped it all off. It had been a few years since I'd been here and it is dramatically improved.

Yelp
This was my first time to Chaz on the Plaza. With Restaurant Week, this was a good opportunity to check out a new restaurant. For the first course, I ordered the Roasted Mushroom and Potato Bisque then my second course was the Brisket Cassoulet. I loved the brisket which was a smoked Kobe brisket. Brisket was very tender and smoked well. The soup was one of my favorites. I enjoyed both dishes very much. I recommend this place and trying their Restaurant Week menu while you can.

Yelp
Went here for restuarant week and had a wonderful experience. The jazz music in the background was perfect loudness and created a very relaxing atmosphere. We had a great waiter and would love to go back on another night! Desserts were my favorite part!

Yelp
My family picked up an AMAZING Mother's Day brunch from Chaz on the Plaza this year. With everything shut down due to Covid 19, we stayed home, but this brunch was not only a surprise, but absolutely delicious. I cannot believe how incredible each and every part of this brunch tasted. We had never been here before, but we are now definitely fans.

Yelp
My husband was excited to take me to Chaz for my birthday and we got a room at the Rafael for the night. Started right off the bat with waitress not coming to our table for several minutes. That was how our service was the whole night. We had to keep looking for her and asking other staff for her. We got the charcuterie plate and very disappointed for a few reasons. Husband ordered prime rib and I got the filet. Disappointed again. My filet lacked in flavor and tenderness. We do better cooking than this at home and we aren't chefs. We discussed how in the world did this restaurant have such good reviews. Well we tried some thing new and next time we want great food and great service we will stick with Capitol Grill or Eddie V's.
