Wordy review but needed — I don’t know if the terrible customer service here is intentional or not, but I’ve experienced it on two separate occasions by the same associate. And after reading some of the other reviews, it seems to be an underlying issue. I work in retail for a luxury brand owned by LVMH, so I make an effort to support emerging brands and local boutiques in the city. With that being said, customer service is a large factor for me when shopping. Upon entering the store during both visits, I wasn’t greeted, wasn’t asked if I had any questions, if I was looking for anything, or hardly acknowledged at all. When I asked if there was a fitting room or if they had other sizes, I was met with a very lackadaisical attitude, as if I was disturbing him. I’m not looking for a formal shopping experience like my job provides, or even mundane pointless small talk. But at the end of the day, we’re all menswear nerds with shared interests, and we want to feel welcomed in a space that’s been a staple in NYC since ’09. C’H’C’M has a damn good buy, but there are other stores in the city that carry the same brands. Out of respect I won’t shamelessly plug them here (though I’m tempted to). If this “customer service” approach is intentional — to drive desirability, to feel more exclusive, or whatever the reason — then it’s corny, and I hope they improve on it. If you’re like me and value hospitality, I recommend shopping either online or at another boutique.

Owner seems very nice. Everyone else who works there sucks. Found a nice pair of pants and decided to leave because of rude the customer service. If brick and mortar is to make a comeback, customer service needs to be on the level. Im not paying $$$ to as jerk when the same item is cheaper on ssense

Excellent assortment and roster of brands, but abysmal customer service. I don’t like to be bothered much when shopping but we didn’t get a ‘hello’ and they just kind of stared at us. We went about 10 minutes after open and were one of two customers in the store. Also confusing that half of the assortment is on sale on the site yet there is no signage about it in-store and the employees didn’t tell us about it. Lost sale with that one.

5 stars for the incredible clothing from desgners around the world- you won’t find this selection anywhere else in the city. However, when I went in, it was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I wasn’t dressed nicely, but I was spending a decent amount of money. The two employees had a conversation with their friend who came in to visit. I was the only person in the store. They completely ignored me, never asked if I needed help with sizes- it was honestly like they actively disliked me and wanted me out of the store. I have no problem with friends visiting (it was getting close to lunch), but maybe have one of the two employees help with the paying customer. When I asked questions about the products and designers they just seemed bored and disinterested. I still Bought the clothes- the selection is fantastic. I may come back again- we all Have off days- I was just disappointed 5 out of 5 on the clothes though.

CHCM is hands down my favorite store in New York City. Every time I walk in, I know I’m going to leave with something special, not just because of the incredible selection, but because of the people. Rich, Joel, and Ade are always so insightful, patient, and genuinely helpful. They know their stuff and make shopping here feel effortless and fun. The quality of the garments and products is top notch, everything feels carefully chosen. And that is a testament to Sweetu, whose eye for curation is unmatched. He keeps the shop so thoughtfully maintained that every visit feels fresh and inspiring. Couldn’t recommend CHCM more, it is the kind of place that keeps you coming back, not just for the clothes but for the whole experience.

Google
Amazing selection. This is one of the few stores to get certain microbrands in NYC. Similar feedback to other reviewers. Staff isn’t helpful and seems to simply linger around.

Google
Good curation but some of the staff are ice cold. Can't really bring myself to patronise when folks are so rude.

Google
Amazing staff, and honestly one of the best curated stores I’ve ever been to. They sell a lot of smaller Japanese and European brands, as well as some US brands (they’re one of the few stockists for Evan Kinori). The store is somewhat small, but doesn’t feel cramped at all. I go in and I just want to buy everything in the store. And the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and always willing to help. A must visit!

Yelp
This is the store you hit after buying your second pair of Paraboot Michael loafers--yes, the cowhide ones, obviously--and asking yourself, 'So, what now?' C'H'C'M' is, without question, the best multi-brand shop in New York: effortless, hush luxe, and unapologetically cool. Sweetu walked so Colbo, Cueva, and Ven.Space could run. It's where 'minimal' meets 'distinctive,' elevating your wardrobe without making it feel like you're even trying. The in-house label? Flawlessly executed in Japan. You'll leave with something you didn't know you needed but suddenly can't live without. Act like you know.

Yelp
This place is frustrating and difficult. There are no price tags so you have to ask the people who work in the shop how much items costs. Why no price tags? The clothing isn't that expensive. But you feel hesitant and intimidated to ask the staff who sit staring blankly behind the counter. They don't seem to be looking at anything or anyone. They stare blankly at a point just above the horizon. The fact that they are very attractive makes it all the more intimidating. It's like a real life enactment of a SNL skit. I heard one person ask the attendant if they had a different size to which the attendant responded by saying "yea, there might be. I can look if you want." Get your French/Japanese/Brooklyn-based made clothing elsewhere.

Yelp
I have debated long & hard about writing this review, as I sometimes like to keep good secrets to myself. However, seeing as CHCM has been open for nearly a year and no one has reviewed it yet, I figured I shouldn't hold back any longer, as this secret deserves to be shared. CHCM is one of my favorite menswear stores in the whole world. The owner, Sweetu Patel, buys with exacting precision, carrying a selective group of lines known for strong lineage and good design sense, many of which cannot be found easily in New York -- Monitaly, Sunny Sports, and Drakes are just a few of them. The goods here are not exactly wallet-friendly, but they are built to last and will stand the test of time. I kind of hate to use the word 'curated', as I feel it has become largely overused, but it describes CHCM's approach perfectly. This unassuming shop is one of my favorite places to look for gifts or even for myself -- many of their pieces are small enough to fit me, which is an added bonus. Sweetu is also one of the kindest and most genuine shopkeepers I've ever met, and plays great music. If you're looking for well-tailored menswear basics that look good and feel good, look no further than CHCM.

Yelp
The best curated menswear store in NYC. Always top notch service. Find yourself a well paying job, buy clothing from this store, and look better than everyone else.
