The hostel is great, the facilities are ok but match the price. The only problem is one blonde Argentinian girl at the reception, she is one of the worst I’ve ever seen and the service with her is so bad. Honestly if you see her at the reception don’t even bother and just leave. Hope they will improve that

Some of our friends went there and then recommended the place to me. I then went with a group of 6 people and we had a lovely stay for a weekend. The hostel has a pool which is lovely to lounge around and it serves tasty drinks which are perfect just before you go out. All ammenities clean and decorations are tasteful. Great customer service. I recommend it!

The hostel is beautiful! Absolutely stunning! There is a very enjoyable common area whit tables hammocks flowers all around an a nice and always clean swimming pool! All the mattresses are excellents! The dorms are big enough and provided whit ceiling fans and air conditioning! The staff was amazing! Friendly helpful and very welcoming! But... There was an italian man, a drug addicted guy, always done and aggressive against me and other guests who ruined the entire vibes of the hostel! This guy fought whit all most everyone, pushing the other guest to leave his dorm to move in others. The management could have imposed a more respectful behaviour to him. When you are sharing you MUST caring!! But they didn't care. Is not possible that for one single and rude aggressive and quarrelsome idiot many guys have been forced to leave the hostel or change dorm, just to avoid discussions whit such disrespectful guy. In my opinion elements like that should be isolated and pushed out of the exit door! It can be an uncomfortable duty, but sometimes necessary to the wellness of the other guests.

Stayed in the10 bed mixed dorm. Matresses were big and confortable with new sheets. Lockers are big enough, rooms are spacious and are cleaned every morning when guests go to the beach. I was worried about the music being too loud, but it was always out after 1 am. We were placed in the part of the dorm where there is an A/C and it was glorious. Kitchen is big and well equipped. Did not feel crowded. Staff are friendly, helpful and kind.||||Drawback: You can't use the kitchen from 8 am to 2 pm (you can't cook)

Wifi is not working. No hot water. Music is so loud all the day that you can’t sleep if you want to. Not closed door so mosquitoes get in. You have to pay for blanket and check in policy is weird. Dated facility. Definitely not recommend

We stayed 3 nights at che lagarto and it was a BIG disappointment at every point. Sure the place is rather clean (I say rather because the bathrooms are cleaned up only one time a day) bed are ok (but don’t count on your own plug or a light or even intimacy) and the breakfast (that you pay) is ok. But that’s it. The staff almost doesn’t speak English and is not really helpful at all. One of them is really living in another space. I spent 10 minutes ringing at the front door to enter because the guy was smoking and the music was so loud that he didn’t ear ANYTHING. Even if i knocked hard on the door. He even seems to be high. If you are looking for a place to meet people and you don’t speak Spanish don’t go there. Lagarto is really only for Spanish speaking people or Portuguese speaking people. The place is really not nice if you want to have some privacy (for making FaceTime for exemple) and relax a bit (always people almost shouting instead of just talking). Don’t need to say that the WiFi is not working properly. In top of that, we had the “luck” to have mud instead of water in our bathroom. To finish with, when we asked to check out, the high guy told us (in Spanish of course because he didn’t make any effort to understand or speak English) that it was at 11am. So we couldn’t check out. Really worst hostel ever in our whole trip of 2 1/2 month. We only gave 1 star because the basic stuff were ok.

Yelp
This is a review for a hostel so don't expect the beds to be extra comfortable (hostel joke) but compared a couple other hostels I have stayed in Brazil, this one tops the list. The location in Buzios is excellent. They provide free breakfast which is rare for hostels and towels are available for rent. They also have 1 free caipirinha upon check in. I stayed in a mixed room and had no problems. The bathrooms can be a bit more cleaner but apart from that, the staff is friendly and so are the people staying here (although it's a hostel so everyone has a varied experience when it comes to people).

Yelp
Cannot express how great this place is (but I will try). I saw on TripAdvisor that this was the most and highest rated hostel in Buzios..so I decided to start the trend on Yelp. Easy to book. Log onto their website, choose the location, the nights and the type of room you would like. If you pay in full, you get a small discount or you can pay half when you book it and half when you arrive. Breakfast is included. Typical Brazilian breakfast of juice, coffee, breads and fruits. Every night the hostel has fun activities from after dinner until midnight. Oh yes, dinner. They have an awesome dinner deal every day also. A food, usually a side, drink and dessert for just under $20R. After dinner they have activities such as karaoke or caipirinha making tournaments. The staff is incredible. They are joyful, knowledgeable and are genuinely interested in your pleasure while at the hostel. Oh, and they speak English. Breakfast included, clean facilities, great location (just a 5 min walk to the street with all the bars and restaurants) optional cheap dinner and great nighttime fun. I do not regret staying here at all and I will definitely stay at Che Lagarto's anytime I am traveling to a city that has one!
