I stayed here for 4 nights and had a great time. That staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean for the most part, near the end I did notice a lot of ants along the one wall going from the ceiling to the floor. It is in a prime location very close to the historic part of the city, near plenty of shops and restaurants. Overall had a great experience!

Private room was clean and very spacious. The shower was a bit awkwardly mounted, but not a dealbreaker. Staff was friendly and helped us with our questions! However, the atmosphere were lacking. There were not so many people, which left the hostel experience lacking. But it was probably us who had a bad luck with our timing! In conclusion, a solid hostel where everything works, but nothing extra.

MONKEYS! The monkeys were so cute and a blessing in the morning! The staff was really friendly and inviting, I wish I went on the boat tour as well. Rooms were really spacious and comfortable. Wi-fi worked well, in some areas it was pretty slow. Odd "nightguard" though who lectured us on religion.

Great hostel in Paraty! It is located in a quiet neighborhood walking distance from the city center. The private room was clean and the beds were comfortable, we also had a private bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, special thanks to Bryan for making our only night a lot of fun. I will definitely return when I come back to Paraty.

Che lagarto is very well located on historical city center of Paraty, near of bakeries, markets, stores, restaurants and the walking zone of the city center.||It's a very quiet place to stay, you will definitely be comfortable to walk a lot, drink all night, and return for a very good night of sleep. I had ride 750km by bike to get there and they even let me use their space to get things clean and safe.||||The place have all the facilities that you will need during your stay - fridge, stove, sink, tables, bar (last call 23:59), pool, snooker, soccer table, 24h reception, sheets, and maintenance if needed. I had a problem with air in the tubes of my shower, because of the heave rains, and they fixed in 10min. If you have any problems, please, communicate, they will definitely try to help you before anything goes wrong with your staying. I supposed to stay only 3 nights, but I stayed 8 on the private room. Nice bed, big bathroom, air conditioner, Television (but I didn't even tried to turn it on, you won't needed), and a very good card key system, I was able to enter in the room every time with no problems in 8 days (first in many). They have some rules like any other place, be aware, and go have some fun. You can use their lockers any time.||I stayed with them after one of the worst storms the region suffered, and the cleaning was very impressive considering what they passed. And again, if something it's not right to you, please communicate, people can't imagine what things your are thinking or passing, and maybe that it's a chance to fix things right away or do things better next time.||||The staff is amazing - Jacques, Bea, Diana, Diogo, Antonio, Marcão, Mia - and more. I had a chance to talk with everyone, always friendly, curious, and helpful, you will definitely find some answers about food, drinks, sightseens, boats, beaches, directions, and so on. if you see they are busy, be patient, if you need something, use your questions to get all the answers you need. If you like snooker, Marcão and Jacques will be a very strong players if available. And if you need more accurate game with them, Diana can provide you a very nice "Jorge Amado" to improve your aim.||||You will find people from all over the world, ages, singles, or couples. Be friendly, gentle and opened, the Paraty experience will be much more easier and amazing with.

The whole atmosphere of the hostel was amazing! All the staff were very nice and friendly. I got the private room, comfortable and spacious. The scared rooms seemed very comfortable too. They have a very nice social space where people hang and can play Billard.|The hostel is close to the Cultural Center.

• This place has private rooms and is across the street from the sister hostel where you can hang out in the outdoor bar and sitting area with a welcoming, warm bartender and meet other travellers.||• Paula at reception is awesome and others are friendly. The helpful suggestions from Paula were the only things that made this place stand out for me and she helped me to finally learn how to say obrigada (thank you)!||• Bring bug repellent. The window has no glass and only wooden shutters so you have to keep it closed. The AC works, the shower is fine, the room is cleanish but very basic. The room size is OK. It has a fridge and not much else. Bed was OK.||• Breakfast passable but basic. Nice bread and a panini maker. ||• wifi not good in the room, but OK near reception.||• It is like a 2 storey motel with shady, outdoor corridors, a basic outdoor seating area for breakfast and a reception area with no seating other than a little bench. I found it dark and a good place for bugs.||• Hard to rate as some will love it. It is one notch up from a hostel so those expecting more will be disappointed. I stayed as part of a G Adventure tour and this was the lowest quality of all the places.||• Tip: best acai in Brazil at Manué café around the corner.

I really recommend this place. The private double rooms are spacious, comfortable and well designed - more akin to a budget hotel than a hostel. They come complete with mini toiletries, an empty mini bar fridge and a flat screen tv. The shower was excellent and the beds so comfortable. The staff were really friendly and the breakfast was really good (scrambled eggs, breads, cheese and ham etc). The best thing about this hostel is that you can access the bar in the regular Che Lagarto across the road which is the place to be in Paraty (which is otherwise a very sleepy place). The location is also excellent - very close to old town. The one downside is no wifi in the rooms, just at reception.
