I spent three nights at Che Shale and absolutely loved it. The setting right on the beach is stunning, and the huts are both unique and comfortable. You really feel connected to the surroundings. The food was excellent throughout, especially the seafood (both crab and lobsters). The service was warm and welcoming, special thanks to William for making the stay feel very personal. The only minor drawback was the low water pressure, but given the setup and remote location, it felt like part of the experience rather than a major inconvenience. Overall, Che Shale is a fantastic place if you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing escape by the ocean.

Casual barefoot beach destination where one can chillax and allow coastitis to take over your days. Beautiful, established, organic, natural venue that does some of the best fresh crab and seafood dishes. 🦀 Love it!

The structure is very well designed with all natural materials, very peaceful but the food is very very bad, completely differs from what described in the menu, and very expensive. We ordered the famous crab but it was a small plate with just a very fried little crab and a small portion on normal salad and rice, disappointing

We stayed here in July 2025 for 3 nights with our 2 little ones. After a drive from the airport and navigating the bumpy roads we arrive to a little slice of heaven. The kids jumped out of the taxi and started digging at the reception hut! That's pretty much what they did for the 3 days after as the whole place is built around sand and walking barefoot. It is very coastal, open, makuti thatched, rustic, breezy, laid back, and forces you to relax! The room Suli Suli was fabulous. Much bigger than we expected and the giant bed enough for all 4 of us. Plenty of space for bags and a large veranda with a swing bed. You leave your room open as its all perfectly safe and leave the kids to play outside digging! Food and service is really good. Everything made fresh to order. They ask you what you want for lunch in advance and at what time so the kitchen can prepare accordingly. I felt this was a really good touch for dinner and lunch. All the staff inc room maids were fantastic. They really went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. The main dining and bar area is fabulous. Very laid back with many dhow boats dotted around the place perfect for kids to scramble in and out of. With the beach clear of rubbish or seaweed and sparkling with gold! its a magical spot on the coast. If you want some rustic living for a few days this is the place for you and I know we will return in the future.

My favourite place to stay in Kenya. Total tranquility and aesthetically stunning. The rooms are beautiful, the staff and hosts are so welcoming that it feels like a home away from home. Fantastic kite surfing instructors too and a beautiful Dhow trip. FINALLY the food… Best crab I’ve ever had and what I will absolutely be returning for. Love LOVE it here.
