Cheakamus Lake

One of the hiking trails in Garibaldi Park requires a day pass for the parking lot. We have visited here in mid August. The overall hiking experience is very pleasant, with most of the route surrounded by trees and water. The difficulty level is moderate. Although there aren’t that many photo spots along the way, you can still capture some stunning scenery. The road leading into the parking lot is truly difficult to drive, so a 4WD vehicle is highly recommended.

The lakes in Canada are truly a gift from God, offering some of the most spectacular views imaginable. For the best experience, hike as high as you can you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking vistas and crystal-clear blue waters.

The hike to the lake is relatively easy, with a mostly flat trail. Once you reach the lake, you're rewarded with crystal-clear turquoise water and stunning views of snow-capped peaks reflected in the still surface.

Very beautiful trail and lake! The trail was moderate for kids and easy for adults. The road is well maintained with lots of shade. Constantly changing view during the hike was like something out of a fairytale or a video game. You can experience multiple kinds of nature while walking with the Grand prize of the lake in the end.

Great trail for a day walk by the lake. Minimal elevation with shaded trail. Make sure to walk to the very end for the stunning lake beach☺️

Cheakamus Lake is one of our family favorites for a day hike. It’s far enough from Vancouver that there are several other hot spots to hike so the traffic on the trails is really minimal. We generally try to get up there by 9:30-10am so that parking in the lot isn’t an issue. If you’re sticking to the lake trail or carrying on to Singing Creek and it’s dry you will probably be fine with runners. Be sure to carry a bear bell as there are numerous black bear and have plenty of water. The trails are well maintained by the park service but be aware the first 3.5km is a steady downhill. Downhill in means uphill back so if you’re not in moderate good health you may have issues. About 1.5km in you can veer off to hike the ridge but advanced hikers and/or those with proper gear need only apply. There is limited camping at the Lake then again at Singing Creek but you need to book your space and get your permit online prior to camping. There are no fires or domestic animals allowed. Also, limited pit toilets but bring your own tp. :)

First time for these Guatemalan eyes to see this amazing place! I loved it! The hike to get there is easy and flat. Mostly walking under the shade of gigantic beautiful trees. Water is crystal clear and has an awesome turquoise color.
