Highlights:
* The events they host when you have nothing to do is great fun if you love team based games & casual activity. The staff & hostel visitors from around the world are encouraged to join. There are arcades, board games, foosball & beer pong to access.
* I have to shoutout multiple staff that were outstandingly welcoming, helpful & fun to be around: Thank you Eino, Manoj, Rashmi, Maria João, Baptiste, Ruben and Txim. Thank you, Manisha (the new girl being trained with Maria & Manoj), she helped my beer pong team win a game! and thank you to the dashing gentleman from Nepal (topknot guy) whose name I forgot. Thank you to all the cleaning staff, I only got the name of Sujan (guy with black hat & long hair). I have to extend my gratitude to Maria João for serving me drinks & being a great game team mate, host & playing bloody good music - and finally, Baptiste, the GOAT!he joined some of the hostel visitors & I out of his working hours to the “Samposauna” and kept us alive & well! New visitors, look out for these guys.
Key points:
* It’s an easy & straightforward check-in process.
* The kitchen has the equipment you need for self-service cooking; there’s an induction stove, electric stove, 2 ovens, multiple category bins, 3 fridges, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, 2 stainless steel sinks & 2 extractor fans.
* The toilets and the kitchens are generally clean, but depend on the hostel visitors during their use.
* The Laundry room access is €10 with a free washing pod and the room is on the 4th floor. It has 2 washing machines & 2 dryers with a free iron & board to use.
* If you’re working/studying, you can book for free a private workplace room.
* If you are an avid book reader there are shelves of books to look out for.
* There’s a 24/7 Grocery store right next to the hostel called “Alepa” for convenience.
Tips:
* For new finland tourists, download the “HSL” app & make an account for public transport ticket. Always buy before you enter otherwise you’ll be fined €100.
* From Helsinki Vantaa Airport to Cheapsleep it’s approximately 51mins. Take “P-Train” from the airport station “Lentoasema” to “Pasila” Station. There are tram stops from “Bolë” Station; take a Tram “7” to “Hattulantie”.
* Approximately 25 Minute Tram ride from “Hattulantie” Tram Stop (1 minute walk from Cheapsleep) to “Rautatieasema” Helsinki Central Station.
* Keep your food in a bag in the fridge and label it.
* Get the breakfast in advance.
* I recommend going to a free Finnish sauna access “Samposauna” that is on a beautiful island. It is 7 mins away via “Bolt” €5-€10 fee depending on timing.
