Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

We love this place and come here at least once a month. The spinach dip is always delicious. The sweet peach tea is yummy. I always get the Monte Cristo and it's great. Be prepared to wait a little bit, but it's worth the wait to me. I probably have 100 more pictures of their food on my phone some where. Their honey butter croissants are to die for too and and they give them to you for free when you dine in.

This is my first time at Cheddars and seating was fast however it’s been over an hour and we are still waiting to eat after appetizers came out we still had yo wait to get our food when we did get our food it’s was cold I understand it’s busy but this is a bit much a couple came in with us ate and left already I’m totally confused after getting the food my husband had the buffalo chicken wrap and I had the New Orleans Pasta my husband enjoyed his wrap and I liked my pasta just wish had more sauce to the pasta cause I liked lots of pasta sauce after eating decided to get desert. But the wait for that was also extremely long and service wait times was horrible I got so frustrated waiting I canceled my desert order and left I’m not sure I’ll come back to this one maybe I’ll try another in Dallas and see if I get better service

I recently did a curbside to-go order from Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen here in Abilene, and I was really impressed. My order was ready a full 10 minutes earlier than the estimated time—always a great surprise when you’re hungry! I went with the fish and shrimp combo, paired with red beans and rice and the broccoli cheese casserole as my sides. Everything was cooked perfectly—the fish was fresh and hot, and the shrimp were perfectly battered and fried just right. I also got the spinach dip as an appetizer, which never disappoints. It was creamy, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. The carhop who brought my food out was incredibly sweet and friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Great service, great food—I’ll definitely be ordering from here again.

This use 2 b 1 of me and my granny's favorite spots in FL, but they closed it down. Unfortunately my granny passed away and went her birthday came, me n my partner went there 2 celebrate her. The order took a lil min, but the food was great. We had a great time on our date.

Went in on a busy holiday weekend, and unfourtunately some of their fryers were down, so they were a bit limited on menu items. But....service was quick, food that we ordered was hot and fresh ( except for the hubby's meatloaf....it looked dried out, but edible). Overall, they made sure customers knew about the menu changes up front....we decided to go here again after a not so great experience years ago...and we were much more impressed. Will we go back? Absolutely....the cleanliness and service were great, it wasn't anyones fault the fryers were down....and our food was great overall!

The food was good aside from them forgetting a few key components to my meal. The service was good and the staff was very nice and friendly. There was a nice family atmosphere.

Our oldest grandson chose Cheddars for dinner last night. I absolutely wish I would have gotten our server's name. She was amazing! She handled our table of 7 expertly. We never had to ask for a refill and she got everything just right. 4 stars because my steak was overcooked which was in no way our servers fault. We will return next time we're in town! Arrived @ 4:40 and seated fairly quickly. We were seated in the back (I assume next to the to-go entrance). We sat there watching several employees walk past and were never acknowledged/greeted in any way. 4:57 rolls around and we have yet to have even a drink order taken. 5pm we decided to head down to Texas Roadhouse for my wife's birthday. Unlikely we'll return because if the food is anything like the service.... Texas Roadhouse nailed it and my wife enjoyed her meal AND service.

2 stars at best. The food is alright but the service is just awful. There in a Tuesday night at about 6pm. Very slow and I was one of only a handful of guests, however Every single thing I order took FOREVER! to come out. 1st drink took about 15 minutes. I ordered my dinner while waiting and that came out, missing items, in an average amount of time. Was almost finished before the item was brought. I ordered chips and queso and another drink after that...... well the drink came out about 10 minutes ago after ordering and CHIPS AND DIP took another 10-15 minutes. And DO NOT waste money on the chips and queso. It is either Velveeta or maybe another brand but straight out of a jar and microwaved. I will say I came here on a busy Friday last week and it was quite the different experience. Quick, easy and good. Maybe the week night staff of the issue, who knows

May 13, 2023. Party of 3. We arrived at 6:40 and got on the wait list. 7:05 received a table. It was busy no doubt. And I felt a little bit like a sardine at my table, located at the service station/ kitchen entrance. Our appetizer (the Wisconsin cheese bites) was room temperature and no longer had the oowey gooey yummy cheesy pull it should have. The Monte Cristo $11- is ample and can be shared. I ordered the Key West chicken and shrimp $14- it was delicious. Our drinks were not presented as pictured and tasted like cool aid. $6 I guess I should not expect much there. Take it or leave it. I probably won't go back.

Definitely won't be coming back! We were seated and not greeted for atleast 15 minutes. Drinks then took another 15 minutes. We finally got the chance to order and needless to say the pork chops aren't worth it (very very dry and way over cooked) and they can't cook a filet to temp if they tried. Wanted the filet cooked medium and the first one came out well done, received another filet and that one came out rare. Still ended up having to pay for the steak even though it was never right and ended up taking them to go and feeding them to our dogs because we knew they would enjoy them way more. The only good thing out of our dinner was the croissants!

This place! Oh my goodness! Theie croissants, alone, would keep me coming back. But their wait staff is great with recommendations! I love the appetizers ans always get the Key West Chicken and shrimp and it's amazing!

Military discount! Chicken Tenders and ribs. Great portions. Chicken is tender, delicate crust, very good. Ribs, this is not a craft Bbq restaurant. They are good for a "regular" restaurant. If you have never had Texas "craft" bbq ribs you will be fine with these.

Cook doesn't know steaks. I ordered medium rare got medium well. To make matters worse it wasn't a very good steak to start with. Nice waitress though.

The manager is very unprofessional. I went in for an interview and he waited until the interview was over to then tell me that there actually weren't any open spots to begin with. What was the point of scheduling an interview with me?

So yummy, the croissants are Fabulous!!! Had the Monte Cristo, the Buffalo chicken wrap and a painkiller. We were not disappointed. The Buffalo chicken wrap has a nice tangy dill pickle snap which is very nice. The raspberry jam that comes with the Monte Cristo is DIVINE!!!

Food is always great. Usually get the blackened white fish with broccoli casserole . Servers are always polite and attentive to your needs.

Emma was our server and she was personable friendly and very interested in making our experience a great one. The food was delicious and hot . My husband had the salmon with bourbon glaze and he loved it. I had the T bone and it was also delicious. Glad we came here. If you come ask for Emma she's awesome!

Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Ate lunch there a couple of times and it was OK.. brought my wife to eat dinner and they brought her cold Buffalo chicken wraps. When asked if they could fix it the manager took it back to remake it and brought back the same plate after microwaving. Once again we let them know it was unacceptable so they remade it and didn't put anything on it that was originally there. The manager was rude and tried to call my wife a liar and was getting loud. After an hour my daughters and I were the only ones who got to eat when we came to dinner together. I went the next day and spoke with the gm who seemed concerned about the situation and asked for my information so he could give my wife and I an uprooting to eat there together but he never followed through.. this place is an unprofessional joke and the food isn't very good and the customer service is lacking in a major way... not happy for sure..

The honey butter croissants are definitely the highlight! I got the salmon, it was decent but nothing especially noteworthy.

Not the greatest food and service was less than par. Bar area was clean and comfortable but service was just not great.

Terrible service. They told me they would seat us, over 50 minutes later, we still weren't seated. Their excuse? Short staffed. While I understand this, they seated over 23 people while my party of ten sat and waited. Never going back here. service.

Had dinner tonight definitely not the Cheddars I grew up on! So dark could barely see in there! I didn't know that Cheddars had. become the place for a hot date, lol! As for the service it was good, but I ordered ribs and shrimp, the 4 small shrimp were slightly larger than salad shrimp and the left the tails on to make them appear larger they we're literally about the size of a quarter, on a about a tablespoon of plain white rice. There was a small amount of fries but the ribs were good, same thing with my other half's plate he got steak and fries and there again hardly any friesFelt like they were counting every cent so they can come in under budget! not bad not good just mediocre at best! Nice try but no thanks, other places in town better for same price or just a little more for a whole lot better food! Sorry but I won't be back.

Gluten free options:) great tea and friendly staff. For those who can have gluten they brought honey butter croissants to the table:)

The food is excellent and the service as well. Did not have to wait a long time to be seated.

While visiting family in May, we stopped at Cheddars for lunch. The server was kind, knowledgeable about the food, and was incredibly attentive. I had the chicken tenders while everyone else ordered burgers and sandwiches. And of course the honey croissants! Everything was delicious. Family members live there and go all the time. One of their favorites!

The service was more of we were disturbing them, the ambiance was by far the worst I have seen in a good while. There was trash and food on the ground from the 'lunch rush' at 4pm. I ended up leaving.

Food has become awful. I ordered buffalo wraps and it was literally just regular chicken strips with a few pickles on it loosely wrapped in a tortilla. I think it may have been actually made by a high school sophomore by the quality of it. I assume Cheddar's must be having a hard time obtaining real kitchen staff because the food was hardly what I'd call coming from a "scratch kitchen". Service was good; only reason gave it 2 stars.

I was visiting family in Abilene, Tx and we decided to eat at Cheddar's. We were served food that was not at temperature, or overcooked (salad was fine). Service was slow but we just chalked it up the restaurant being short staffed. What really upset us was the roaches that were crawling on tables floor and on the bench (see pics). We asked the waiter to ask manager to come and see the crawlers and help move us to another table but no one came to table. We decided to pay for the food we started to eat before the roaches showed up and then left the restaurant. This was a disgusting experience and shameful that a person in charge wouldn't come to table. I would not recommend this place unless a thorough pest exterminator fumigates the property

I've eaten at Cheddar's since a kid and this is by far the worst food I've had at one. The service from our server gets 5 stars but the food not so much. The croissants app were all burnt, so dry I couldn't eat past a bite without drinking water. I ordered a chicken salad. The croutons were stale and the chicken was very dry and stale as well. My BF got the chicken and broccoli casserole and the casserole was also very dry, and had a really weird powdery bread crumbs on top that were super dry. The other part of this is, the entire area of our table underneath had tons of food from previous people, like it hadn't been cleaned all day. 2 of the 4 chairs had food on them as well. The place in general seems newer and clean so that's was disappointing. That's not something I would ever gripe about but in this case it adds to the bad experience.

First time at this restaurant, went for lunch. Ordered the monte cristo sandwich. It appeared to have been deep fried twice- somehow it was near burnt and the cheese was melted but the turkey and ham were not hot... Also someone else requested a new water glass because hers was dirty, and got another dirty glass of water. The portions were large, but I doubt I will be back.

The wait was 35 minutes for a late Saturday lunch. Being a new restaurant in town this is to be expected. My daughter and I frequent Cheddar's in The metroplex. Our favorite location is in Allen Texas so far. We love the Ribs and chicken tenders meal with a side salad. We are ranch snobs, lol and theirs is great! I have also really enjoyed the burger and fries, kids grilled chicken, onion rings and the sodas. I have on occasion had an adult beverage which have always been great. Back to Abilene location, my family enjoyed the cheese bites and onion rings. They did not like the queso and chips. We love Mexican food so chips and queso is a staple in our meals. Reports from the fam: burger -good, salmon and veggies -good, chicken tenders and fries- good!

Let's be honest, Cheddar's is just Chili's dressed up in a suit and tie. The food is mediocre at best. Our waitress on the other hand was kind and attentive. Our meals came out before our appetizers which was strange and inconvenient, but not the fault of our server. If you're a big fan of chain restaurants like Chili's, Applebee's, or Buffalo Wild Wings you'll probably love Cheddar's. Otherwise, I'd head in a different direction and try some of the locally owned restaurants here in Abilene!

Had a nice top shelf margarita. It was big and tasty, just what I needed. We had the cheese fries and added jalapeños, along with ranch dressing it was great. My husband has the buffalo chicken wrap. The portion is huge so prepare to share or take some home. I had the kids chicken tenders with broccoli & rice casserole. It's was extra cheesy and that made it yummy! The chicken could have been a bit softer. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Overall we had a nice lunch!

Honestly, I'm just not a fan. I've never had great service or great food here. I don't know if it's the recipes or the staff, but I have tried to eat here multiple times without good results.

Not a fan... First let me start by saying the server was great, and was tipped well! She was fast, efficient and 100% accurate with our order. However, the food was less than appealing. Cajan Pasta was DRY and flavorless !! Salmon Caesar Pasta Salad, terrible. Chicken Tenders were average at best. Chips and Salsa tasted like ketchup. The only redeeming item was the free croissants, they were excellent. Definitely won't be taking my family back or recommending it to anyone.

Coming in the hostess was very polite and attentive, probably the best part about coming in. Extremely excited because of reviews I've gotten from friends, all I can really sum it down to is an extreme let down. Croissants were amazing and so was the salad, that's where that ended. Chips and queso were the go to appetizers, yet the queso was thick and tasted as if I bitten into a Velveeta cheese block. Ordered the country fried steak, and as a basic comfort food in Texas you would expect it to be good, except it was bland and so was the mashed potatoes that came along with it. Barley ate it and it took over 15 minutes to get a refill after asking the waitress for one. It was dead inside, only tables in her section was us and two others. I hate to be one to do a yelp review but for this to be a Texan chain it was a huge let down.

Had a 6 Oz. Fire Grilled Sirloin, Salad & country style green beans that were wonderful. Wife had same only coleslaw. All tasted very good and cooked to perfection. Geat service and prepared food came out fast . Would definitely recommend.

Ordered the Chicken fried Chicken and Dijon Chicken with a hot fudge sundae cake for Curbside. Food was absolutely delicious with excellent curbside service. Will definitely order again.

We go to the Cheddar's near us in Fort Worth on a regular basis. Also dined at other locations across Texas. Typically the service is fast and orders are accurate. Well that is NOT the case at this location. One meal was supposed to be chicken fried chicken and they brought chicken fried steak. See picture. Meal two was supposed to have a loaded baked potato. Not sure when cheese only became a loaded potato. Menu showed a picture of a typical loaded version with cheese, sour cream, chives & bacon. The second meal was also supposed to have a side salad. Would have been nice prior to the main entree. But it was totally missed and we had to ask for it to be served. Came out after we were about half way through the entrees. So the bill arrives and the check totaled approximately $ 46 and then my credit card was charged $ 63. Inaccurate orders and then they tried to over charge me by $ 17?!?

Used crubside service food was 15 minutes late and only delivered after 2 phone calls. We were told by the managing partner who brought it to our car it had just come up. Well the bacon cheese fries the cheese was already solid after having been melted and there was not bacon on the "BACON" cheese fries. The "made from scratch" buttered corn off the cob was canned corn with no butter. Broccoli was over cooked and a sickly shade of green I threw it out. Over all the experience was really bad. We have eaten at many other Cheddars and everything is always nice. No more Abilene Cheddars for us. FYI my review says I'm in California but I'm in Texas

Had to try the new restaurant in town and it was good. I received disappointing service from my waitress which is what brings this rating down a bit. I got the Honey Butter Croissants for an appetizer which was really good! Just as you'd expect. As for my entree, I got the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie and that was good as well - had good flavor and consistency.

Maybe we were lucky and hit Cheddars when everything happened to be going just right, but we were very impressed. Either they don't deserve all the negative reviews, or they're over their growing pains. On a Friday, a little after noon, we were seated immediately. The waitress was friendly, efficient, and attentive. The wait for our food was 15-20 minutes, acceptable considering a full house on a Friday. My gf had the chicken salad, I had the Monte Christo with a Caesar salad. Good food. Best restaurant meal we've had in months. I'm not normally lavish in my spending habits, but I gladly left a 50% tip. Even with the tip we spent way less than we have at most of the restaurants we've tried in Abilene. This was our first meal at Cheddars, but it won't be the last.

Very unimpressed and underwhelmed. Let's start off by walking through the door. We came here on a Monday, it was not busy, plenty of vacant tables. It took the waiter about 15 minutes to come get our drink order, we had already decided on our meals. The hostess didn't mention she sat us. Even after she told the waiter, it took awhile. The waiter was friendly, however he took forever for everything. Let's talk about the food now. I got the steak and grilled shrimp with broccoli casserole and sautéed mushrooms with a side Cesar salad. The steak was cooked ok. It wasn't how I asked. I also ended up with rice and mashed potatoes and no Cesar salad. When he came back he brought the right sides and the Cesar salad, that was super soggy with zero crunch. I actually couldn't even eat it. And I told him how bad it was and got charged anyway. My daughter got the steak, fries, and corn cut off the cob. And let's be real here, that sh*# was straight up frozen corn from a bag, ok. I expected much better with all the hype. When we left, 3 of the people at the hostess station didn't say a thing, I'm carrying a baby carrier. I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I see a woman with a purse, diaper bag, and carrying a car seat, I would rush to hold the door. Crappy food, crappy service, and way overpriced. Won't return.

Wow, disappointing. Had to ask server 3 times for our drinks before she brough them. Only 3 other tables of people so it was basically empty. Our food arrived cold. Pretty much a waste of money imho. I wont make the mistake of going back to this location.

Lovely setting and atmosphere. Food is average. Service and lack of concern is a significant concern. After being sat I waited 10 min before being greeted by my server, with no apology for the delay. I can certainly understand circumstances in a busy situation, but there was no rushing around or apparent stress present. However management probably needs to evaluate staffing and the current number of tables allotted per server. After placing my order my entree came out promptly...and then received my appetizer 5 minutes later. I will come back for a second visit, but if the service is similar on my next visit I will not be returning.

This was our first time ever eating at Cheddar's and it was an amazing experience! We all got margaritas which were delicious and then I ordered my chicken Caesar pasta salad and OH MY GOOOOODNESSS IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!! It's such a unique dish and I couldn't get enough! The chicken is so thinly shaved and the dressing is delicious with the perfectly cooked pens noodles, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Our waiter (Aubrey I believe) was super attentive and friendly and gave us great service. I am 100% coming back for this again

Very good but if I'm paying 9 dollars for cheese fries don't make them skimpy on my Togo order and the Wisconsin cheese bites barely have squat for 7 dollars of fried cheese! Just insanel oh and the steak was supposed to be medium well!

Best thing here are their flavored teas, croissants & tenders! Everything else in the menu is subpar and not worth the trip to eat out for our family.

So far so good. Well we will see how this place stays up to the rating. Cheddar's is my folks favorite place to eat, can't wait for them to come to town to compare to theirs.

Went to Cheddar's for the first time two weeks ago. There were four of us. My brother-in-law, his wife, my wife & myself. We showed up at 5:00 and were sat within five minutes. Our server was fantastic, he went above and beyond. We started our meal with The Triple Sampler. Appetizer came out fast and everything was hot and taste was right on point. The queso dip is very tasty as was the spinach dip. Our entrees included a mixture of steaks, shrimp & sandwich. My wife was in the mood for a sandwich and ordered the Club. She said it was very tasty & quite large (had to take 1/2 of it home). I ordered the 14oz Ribeye steak mid-rare. It was cooked perfect and well seasoned. My sister-in-law ordered shrimp and it was cooked right and very tasty as well. My brother-in-law ordered a Sirloin steak mid-well. The only negative in our whole experience was that his steak was very well done. He is not the type to send back food. Doesn't deserve 5 stars but 4 is to low if the option was there I would give it 4.75 stars Would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends and family

I've been to quite a few Cheddars and this one by far the worst. The waitress was wonderful dont get me wrong. I think she did a excellent job. Everything was clean and gave a great dimmer type vibe. It wasn't until my food came out that everything was like over. My steak had to be returned about 4 times or 3. I asked for a medium and it came out not even warm in the center. It was gushing blood . The second time it came back it was medium rare at least but still.... I didn't even want to eat at that point. The shrimp was over cooked and almost mush.

Great food! Fantastic service, thank you Marissa! And not a 30.05 sign in sight, thank you for honoring my rights and trusting me. We vote with our wallet, we will be back.

This location had me on hold for 15 minutes only to tell me that to-go left already and I can't place an order. On my B-day. Super wack.
