This place has a 9.7 on Hostelworld and I have no idea how they are achieving that. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad hostel, but it's quite misrepresented in my opinion. The rooms were fine, AC is a bit weak. Bathrooms were not that great, but serviceable. The "Turkish breakfast" they advertise is only fruit, nothing else. It's a nice touch because it is free, but be aware.
My issue with this hostel is that it just felt like they are trying to nickel and dime you for literally everything. If I could give any specific advice it would be NOT to do the pub crawl, I was already skeptical at the $23 price and I should've listened to my gut. Other hostel pub crawls I've done around the world will have an open bar or include lots of drinks and actually take you to cool local pubs. This one wasn't like that. They give you ONE free shot, and it's mostly juice. And I've never seen a hostel that is so stingy about that, they were very strict about that limit (except with a couple girls that the bartenders were hitting on, they got more shots) and quite rude to anyone who tried to get more, when they had plenty extra. Drinks at the bar are ridiculously expensive. $5 for a beer or a shot is the cheapest you're getting. Then the "pubs" are just generic stuffy clubs. I guess it can be good to meet people, because while this is advertised as a "social" or "party" hostel, it really isn't... there is no common space besides the bar, and even that is small.
The staff are mostly friendly, but it can feel inauthentic when it's just trying to get more money out of you most of the time. If you book, they'll message you "kindly offering" to "save you from the chaos" of the Istanbul Metro from the airport... with their $55 taxi service. Or all their tours that are like $30-80 when you could just do all the same activities for a fraction of the price by yourself like I did. You are better off staying anywhere outside Sultanahmet because the whole area is tourist ripoffs.
