Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a hostel in a less-touristy but still central part of Istanbul! The accommodations are basic but totally fine for a backpacker on a budget. The guys running the place are super friendly and welcoming. Great vibes!

My husband and I stayed in this hostel for two nights. The hosts Ibo and Hicham made us feel so welcome in Istanbul and gave us a lot of tips on where to eat or go out. We also enjoyed some awesome jamsession at the hostel. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Thanks a lot for this beautiful first stay in Istanbul!

A lovely stay! My private room was clean and well-maintained, and had an amazing view of the street outside. The AC worked great (thank goodness). It is a busy road and can be noisy at night, so if you are a light sleeper, maybe consider somewhere else or earplugs. The people were very nice and the tram stop is so close, making everything very accessible. The surrounding neighborhoods are walkable, quaint, and perfect.

I had a great time at Cheers Midtown! The rooms were clean and well-kept – you can tell they care about creating a comfortable space. What really stood out to me was the social vibe, especially in the evenings downstairs. I met amazing people and had some really good conversations – super easygoing and welcoming. A big shoutout to the staff as well: I had forgotten my journal and reached out later – they kept it safe for me until I could pick it up. Super kind and helpful! I’ll definitely be coming back. Thanks again for everything!

This will be without a doubt the worst accomodation I have ever stayed in. We arrived to the room, immediately noticed the bathroom smelt like raw sewage and within 30 minutes the power went out. We then left for dinner and when we returned, excited to shower and sleep, realised we had no running water, but at least the power had came back on. At this point someone said “at least we have power again” and then roughly 2 minutes later the power cut off again. Now it was dark so we were using our phone torches to navigate the room. If we didn’t all have charged battery packs this would have been a disaster. About 10 minutes later someone else commented “well all that’s left is the structural integrity of the building” and as someone went to close the curtains, the curtain railing fell off the wall! At this point we had to try sleep in a room that smelt of sewage with no curtain, no A/C and having not been able to shower or use the toilet. It was sooo horrible it was actually comical. Then the following morning we realised the toilet in the neighbouring bathroom was leaking onto the ground. We had booked this accomodation for 2 nights but after the experience we had the first night found alternative accomodation for our second and last night in Istanbul (for the same price and 100x better). In the morning we went to let management know all that was wrong with the room and request a refund and were met with zero sympathy and only a 50€ refund on a 120€ booking. The final straw was we were asked to cancel our booking so they could try get someone else in it that night and the room was barely liveable. We are shocked the reviews for Cheers Midtown on Google and HostelWorld are soo good, DO NOT GO HERE!!

I am giving two stars cuz it has air conditioning and the view from the window was super cute. But everything else was not... really great. I spotted couple of BEDBUGS (as of 28 July 2025). I thought my bed frame will fall apart and mattress almost felt like it lost its springs. The bathroom smelled sewage. Bedsheets had some marks (it looked like old blood stain to me) and it didn't really felt clean. It doesn't have common area, so that's also something that you might want to note as a solo traveler who is looking for a social hostel. I've been to many other hostels, and I'm sorry, I think this was the most unpleasant one so far. But at the same time, the place was very affordable, so up to you to decide.

The owners of this place are pretty nice and helpful. Great place if you want to connect with internationals and locals. Centrally located in Istanbul. Give some attention to the cat while you are there.

I came to this hostel for two reasons : air conditioning , and a decent shower. AC doesn't work in our room at all despite being advertised on the website. Shower had absolutely no water pressure and I had to shower with barely a trickle. The room is loud as hell with the cars and motorcycles in the street next to it Not happy with it

Yelp
I have very mixed feelings about this hostel. I booked it because it was a bargain at 25 euro/night for a private room with a shared bathroom. Arrival was fine, guy working was very friendly even if it was his first day. The a/c in my room had no remote and he promptly found one for me. I think it's an older building so it didn't smell so good most of the time. Not strong enough to leave the hostel, but not great either. The shared bathroom on my floor was usually a disaster. Dirt and water all over the floor. Not the hostel's fault, I don't think. They clean it once a day and I think I had messy guests on my floor. I ended up using the bathroom on other floors most of the time, which were much cleaner. Hot water was good enough, though it did tend to come in and out. Honestly it was more a hotel than a hostel. There is no community area other than the cafe downstairs, so I never met any fellow travelers. Fine by me but perhaps not what you expect from a hostel. Also, to get to Taksim you have to walk up a giant hill. It's only about a 10 minute walk, but it's a tough one when you do it over and over again. A couple coffeeshops on the same street I never got to try, and if you can brave the hill some great restaurants nearby as well. If I went back to Istanbul I'd likely pay a little more for a private at the top of the hill.
