Chef Tanya's Kitchen - Palm Desert

Our new favorite place in the low desert, with an all vegan menu and kitties next door 🥰 I hardly know where to start! Hubs & I first ate here the last Saturday in May, and Chef Tanya's Cat Kingdom next door was open for adoptions with kitties from local shelters 😻 We ate outside on the patio which is a nice ambiance with misters and a pesticide-free bird and pollinator habitat. We took home food to go, including their spicy queso dip which was on sale so they were giving samples out. Really tasty and hard to believe it was vegan. The next time we were in the area was a Friday and we got there in time for breakfast. I tried their rosemary latte because the syrup is made with real rosemary, and it was so good I wanted another, but left room to try their haboobs! Hubs enjoyed a Mocha latte with caramel, so following up with a Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookie Haboob was a no-brainer. I was feeling adventurous with Crystal Blue Persuasion, and it was exotic tasting, but I probably should have gone easy on the blueberries and ginger. Everything we ate was delicious and amazingly vegan. For some reason I received caramelized onions on my to-go sandwich when the receipt noted I had requested without. The onions didn't ruin the taste since they were caramelized (and became food for our compost bin so they weren't completely wasted). Our second visit we brought an ice chest and took home some of their ready-to-go items in addition to meals for dinner. Hubs got the weekly special both times which comes with an agua fresca, so we enjoyed different flavors on the patio and at home. There is a gift shop as well, with colorful and funny cards, stickers and pins, and books that make you think about the earth and its innocent creatures. Hubs and I have been vegetarian since 2001, but I ended up buying The Pig Who Sang to the Moon, a Book by Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, because the title made me cry 😿 Friendly staff and a convenient rewards program to keep you coming back. I rec'd $5 off our order when signing up at the register, and our meals earned us $5 off our to-go order. On our next visit after ordering breakfast, we'd earned $5 off our dessert 👍 Finally, when visiting La Quinta we've often driven across the 111 to Palm Springs to eat on the patio and take food to go at Native Foods. We were thrilled to discover CTK in Palm Desert, see Chef Tanya's timeline and make the connection that Chef Tanya also founded Native Foods! Chef Tanya's Kitchen makes me wish I lived in Palm Desert, I'd support this place every day 🙏👏

Truly the most incredible Birthday dinner I’ve ever had! The staff was so kind and generous. My husband and I came in from Joshua Tree cause we read great reviews and they truly hold up! It is worth the drive. The food was delicious. We ended up getting some carnitas from the freezer because the tacos were the best vegan tacos I’ve ever had. The Fresca also— top notch! Both staff members went above and beyond to make my birthday special and it seriously made my day. I am so grateful and highly suggest going!!

Wowwowow coming from Nashville, where we have a local place that makes their own delicious seitan, I am a harsh critic when it comes to seitan. But TANYA HAS NAILED IT. When I tell you that the Cubano is one of the most delicious sandwiches I have ever had… period. And oh my god the date shake. I could cry! I went back multiple times while I was in town to try other menu items, and every dish was amazing. Will go out of my way to eat here any time I’m within 100 miles. Palm Desert, you are lucky to have this place!

VEGAN HEAVEN. Cafe with creative and delicious vegan food as well as adorable shop and dessert spot. The broccoli “cheddar” soup was delectable and you never would’ve known that it was vegan. Everything on the menu was just incredible and I can’t recommend it enough.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Everything was yummy from the food to the drinks to the jarred things that I bought. Great Vegan spot and that’s coming from me the non-vegan.

Can’t get enough of the one Guadalajara. I’m in love. Also, the modern hippie sandwich is amazing. I love their ice cream. Also, you have to try the spicy chicken sandwich. It’s really good. It would be wonderful to have La Quinta location.

I go to Chef Tanya’s Kitchen whenever I’m in Palm Springs. And I’m in Palm Springs every month. I drive to Palm Desert because this location has cinnamon rolls and soft serve 😋 I’m happy and thankful for this place because it’s organic, vegan, always fresh and delicious. Lately been eating daily specials and forgive me but I don’t remember names. Check out my pictures though. SO GOOD! Staff is amazing! Place itself is very pleasant to dine in.

This place is amazing. Where do I start? The Cubano fantastic! Guadalajara amazing! Monday special Southern BBQ sandwich with barbecue seitan and coleslaw, life changing. I need to figure out how to be here one Monday a month so I can have more of this simple masterpiece. If you're looking for a plant-based meal, put down your phone and drive over here already. You're not going to find anything better.

The space is eclectic and full of personality. The food is tasty. I'm not vegan but I enjoyed my chicken sandwich and the fries were . The hibiscus agua Fresca is delicious, if a tad over sweet. Cant wait to try the rest of this innovative menu!

Recently, on a trip to Palm Desert, I stopped by Chef Tanya's Kitchen for dinner. The place was really cute--half ice cream shop and half small store stocked with lots of vegan items, plus a café where you can order food. The lady helping us was super nice and recommended some of their popular items. We went with the Guadalajara burger and a fried chicken sandwich from the special menu, plus a refreshing agua fresca (forgot the flavor, but it wasn't too sweet). We also got some fries. I'm not super familiar with vegan food, but I eat it often because my girl loves it. Both the burger and the sandwich had protein that tasted like real meat, which made them really enjoyable. The only downside was that the vegan bread was a bit dry, but nothing a little extra ketchup couldn't fix. Overall, I loved the meal and the atmosphere, and I'd definitely come back if I was in the area for a nice, healthy bite.

Visiting Palm Springs/desert area for the first time and noticed there weren't too many healthy refreshing food places. Chef Tanya's has light and delicious sandwiches! Very refreshing. My favorite was the banh mi sandwich which had a nice spicy kick with the peppers and my partner enjoyed the chicken sandwich which I thought was pretty light in flavor. I wouldn't say the food packs a flavor punch, though could've just been the choices we got, however it is so light and refreshing which makes it worth it especially being in the desert.

Had the Banh mi, fries and some sort of spicy fruit drink. All were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful too. Highly recommended.

This vegan Mecca in Palm Desert is a must-visit for vegans looking for some delicious, hearty food and a range of lunch and dinner choices from sandwiches to salads to soups as well as coffee and breakfast treats. Friendly staff take your order at the counter and deliver to your table. Or use their online ordering to place for pickup. But even if you're doing takeout, go order in person at least once and spend time in the store. First, the space is really lovely, with lots of wood mixed with metal for that chill-but-still-a-little-industrial vibe. It's also spacious, with a whole vegan soft serve ice cream shop tucked in the corner. Second, their retail shop is amazing. They stock a lot of specialty items you otherwise might only find online, like Rancho Gordo heirloom beans and Rebel Cheese Brie. Plan a visit, order, shop, and allocate your dollars to this wonderful local business!

Finally got to experience Chef Tanya's today. We went for breakfast. Understand that between 9 AM and 11 AM breakfast is their only option. We ordered two breakfast entrees, both of which can easily be split. BREAKFAST TOSTADA Delicious! The tostada was hot and fresh. The avocado and black beans gave the dish substance. The seasoning combined with the fresh jalapenos made this dish work. Clearly a dish I shall order again. AVOCADO TOAST Their choice of whole grain bread was perfect. Avocados, tomatoes all premium quality. While the avocado toast was exceptional the tostada was better. Service was solid 5 stars. Decor and ambience were amazing. I'm planning to return just to go thru their retail. So many good things to buy. I could easily drop a couple of hundred bucks on retail at Chef Tanya's. We're not vegans. Regardless we loved this place. The food, service and ambience were all solid 5 star. We will be back!

For some reason this was in my YELP favorites but we walked in to realize it was a vegan restaurant which we had not expected. Being hungry, we went with it and the girl who took our order helped us find the most popular items so we could see what it was all about. In the sandwich category we ordered a Modern Hippie Veggie for $16.25 which was like a salad between two pieces of bread. I'll tell you, your mouth is not big enough to eat this thing! It tastes like fresh California living. The bread is coated with "Crack cheese," some sort of vegan delight, for sure. My boyfriend didn't think it had much flavor. Then under the Tempeh Powerburger category, we ordered the Guadalajara! for $16.95. This had Anaheim chile, caramelized onions, guacamole, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo. Very messy and flavorful with the chiles being the best part (and I hate spicy!) We also through in FRIES! Organic, hand cut, tossed in Chef T's spice mix. $7.50. We ate our food outside and the girl outside was super friendly and stopped by multiple times to make sure we had what we needed.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the desert, and I'm not even vegan! The vibes and welcoming atmosphere of this restaurant are absolutely amazing. All their food tastes great and makes you feel fantastic. Every time I eat here, I leave feeling good. My favorite items are definitely the chili fries and the Modern Hippie sandwich (their crack cheese is incredible!). It's also fun to shop around and check out all the cool products they offer. The service is always great, and the staff is very friendly. Tanya herself is welcoming and kind. Overall, it's my favorite spot for vegan food! Even if you aren't vegan I'd say give it a chance!

I am not vegetarian but love Chef Tanya's anyway. The food is delicious and service great. No ambiance to speak of, but a comfortable place to sit and eat.

Excited to finally this restaruant and it did not disappoint! Upon entering the spacious restaurant, me and my coworkers were warmly greeted by restaurant staff. After reviewing the paper menu while waiting to order, I ordered a caprese tempeh burger with a side of smoked children pasta, while my coworkers orders the modern hippie veggie sandich with a boogie bar as well as a bowl of chili cheese crack fries and the daily soup. Our food arrived quickly, was prefectly cooked and was delicious. I was plesantly surprised to see that in addition to this Chef Tanya's location having a restaurant, there is also a variety of vegan items for sale as well as a spearate areas of the store selling vegan soft serve ice-cream. With so many delicious things available to eat and cool things to buy, I will definitely be bringing my husband to this restaurant again sometime soon.

Came in from LA last night and had Tanya's delivered; Cubano and Mac & cheese. Both great, Cubano is a 10/10. A chef colleague of mine has been raving about the tempeh "Rancho Gordo chili burger and today, not 24 hours later I was back eating at chef Tanya's again. The tempeh chili burger? INCREDIBLE. How will I decide what to have next time? Chili burger or Cubano? Something tells me it's gonna be both! Can't wait to go back.

This is without a doubt, our favorite restaurant in Palm Desert. Everything from sandwiches to salads to freshly made juices are amazing, and of course, don't forget to have the famous chili cheese fries. That cracked cheese is to die for. I don't know how chef Tanya makes everything so delicious but we give this Restaurant five stars across the boards. Thank you, Tanya for making healthy eating so delicious.!! Not only is the food so great but also the actual environment of the place as it is so charming, and they sell the cutest things having to do with outdoor nature and Vegan.

I am so happy to find Tanya's in Palm Desert. I bought a few to-go items today and everything from their Crack Cheese (made with cashews) to the Moroccan Roasted Cauliflower was outstanding. I also bought the Gordo chili which I cannot wait to try for lunch tomorrow. Service was friendly and the setting was super cute and eclectic. Tanya's had a nice selection of sandwiches and salads that you could eat there or to go. I'm returning to try a sandwich or two. The store had a cute selection of high-end dry goods like Rancho Gordo dry beans, good olive oil and other cute gifts. Check out this place if you are a vegan or meat eater who loves delicious, from-scratch food.

We were pleasantly surprised by the food in the animal, friendly environment. It's literally a little hole in the wall, full of great food and friendly employees. Well worth the drive to find it. And oh by the way, my wife and I are not vegan. A+

As a non-vegan eater and barbecue connoisseur. We were blown away by the variety of foods, desserts, and take home goods. The food was delicious and their specialty agua fresca drink was out of this world world. Like I said before I am not a vegan, but their food at this location is Goooooood!!

Palm Springs/Palm Desert is not always the most vegan-friendly, so I was very excited to try this spot! I ordered the hippie veg sandwich and pear tart (warmed). Both were great. Lots of good menu items and goodies in the shop. Lots of available seating and parking. Only thing is that I don't love overly-manufactured vegan products, so I would recommend sticking to the homemade cashew-based "crack cheese" rather than the fake cheese alternatives that are in other menu items.

Chef Tanya's Kitchen intrigued me. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian. I wanted something healthy. This place rates well so I thought I would give it a try. The restaurant is located in a strip mall. The exterior has curb appeal. They have a wooden patio with outdoor seating and misters for those very hot days. No one was sitting outside though, they were inside. The entry to the restaurant leads to the cashier and all around this room are vegan products. There is another room for dining. I ordered take out and paid in advance. I was greeted when I came in. My food was ready when I arrived. I ordered the chupacabara chick'n sandwich. The torpedo roll was pretty good. It had a nice Crunch to it. I liked the pickled jalapeños but the taste was subdued. There was 2 small slices of seitan. I really couldn't taste it to be honest. I felt overall that this was just a regular veggie sandwich, nothing special. 7/10. I think I should've tried one of the power burgers or salad. I got the apple tart desert. It was OK. It was really dry. The apple slices on top were all stuck together. They were difficult to chew. The crust was almost there but not quite. 7/10

Yet again my husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Chef Tanya's. This time we shared an El Cabano sandwich and the Coachella Forever salad. It was delicious!!!

I really want to like this place but they seriously need some more gluten free options! I really wanted to try a burger or sandwich but the only options for gluten free were SALADS! I ordered the Thai Tofu Salad... it was OK, I just prefer not to eat salads with lots of chunky leaves. Also, it seemed that all of the desserts were made with sugar. I wish they used some other sweeteners as I avoid sugar. It IS super cute though, nice gift shop, service was excellent and updated decor!

This place is fabulous!!! I love meat and can honestly say I don't miss it when I eat here. The food always has enough flavor and texture to make me happy. We started eating here a few years ago when they were at the previous location. So happy they expanded. The food, drinks, and desserts are all very good. If you're interested in a great meal try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Vegan paradise? Yes!!! Everything here is vegan, which is rare to find. There's a nice selection of vegan items for sale, and they also have fresh items as well as ice cream. Their ice cream is ridiculously delicious. We got a strawberry lemon shortcake smoothie, and I felt like I was eating straight ice cream... With zero guilt. I also had to cinnamon roll with the frosting, which was very dope, but very delicious.I also got a carrot cake and a chocolate cookie to go. Almost forgot their incredibly delicious, herbal chai. I'm definitely coming back and I want to try out some of their amazing salad dressings.

GO HERE NOW AND ORDER ALLLLL THE VEGAN THINGS! Two vegans walk in hungry, sad (after a weekend of non vegan friendly eats), and ready for redemption. Praise Joesus, we got it! We had a tempeh burger, the taco salad, a chocolate cupcake, ice tea and aqua fresca. Everything was SO good, fresh, and of excellent quality. The gifts between the 3 shops (creamery, cafe, and cat adoption) are so cute! We got a few fun vegan stickers, jams, and sauces to take home. Would def go here again, And again. =)

Wonderful food Vegan in no way what you've had in the past. Tanya is a classically trained chef, her skills at creating new combinations is marvelous. Also, reasonably priced. Newer location shows her artistic side. Very comfortable.

Tasty food that I assume is healthy lol and decent portions! I like that they have hot food made to order as well as a selection of ready-to-go takeout options in their fridges. My favorite was their chili burger and their fries did not disappoint! Decent amount of indoor seating. Also liked how they had knick knacks to browse like coffee beans from specialty roasters, candles, funny cards, etc

Amazing spot! The food is excellent, with lots of interesting choices. You can pick up lots of prepared things to go as well, and they combine the restaurant with a gift shop. I discovered this place on accident just as I was starting up the hill on HWY74 back to San Diego. I'll be stopping in every time I take this route from now on.

Having been lucky enough to be in the area again recently, once again Chef Tanya's was a daily ritual for us. The quality of the food, the friendly service & the consistency of the whole experience is something the whole Chef Tanya's crew should be proud of! The community that has flourished and grown around good conscience food is amazing. Thanks again for everything & looking forward to our next adventure! The food is just awesome. They are prompt and friendly. Nice little location. I did not know a salad could be made this tasty. Hope they open a location in the Bay Area soon.

This rating is for their Kreamery where they serve oat milk-based soft serve. I grabbed their Rocky Road special and it was out of this world good. My dad opted for their "Twist" and said it was way better than the frozen yogurt he was going to have. He was impressed how far vegan ice cream/soft serve has come. We loved how they were all with natural ingredients- a must-try for anyone visiting the Palm Desert area

I've always loved Native Foods and I was so sad when they closed down the locations in Orange County, so when I was visiting Palm Springs and found Chef Tanya's kitchen I was so excited! All the food was so fresh and yummy and healthy. And the staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for something that tastes home-cooked! They also have really cool ambiance, and healthy ice cream!

My first experience with Chef Tanya's creations was in August when we were in the Palm Desert area to buy a house. We were in the Hilton Garden Inn and I had takeout: chicken chupacabra sandwich and an apple cobbler. Immediately I was a fan, for the sandwich had the perfect flavor, seasoning and the bread was fantastic. I loved the cobbler as I have loved cobblers back East and this was a superior one! Yesterday I stopped in as I found out that they carry Rebel Vegan Cheese. I skipped through this delightful, warm and welcoming shop finding treasure after treasure. I found a chèvre Rebel cheese and the balsamic fig cheese, some pumpkin butter, bagels, and a local gelato with tangerine and marmalade. I did not have time to wait for a sandwich as I had to be elsewhere but you can be sure I am going to make an opportunity come along, very soon. When you enter, you can feel the love of the customers spread out over the separate rooms. Each room of the cafe has seating as well as well-placed delicacies. I love the energy of the staff who are simply wonderful. This place is a gift and I will gladly pay for the most lovingly prepared and locally sourced items. When I see their instagram page I am instantly adding items to my next grocery list. I think my Christmas and birthday gifts should be located at Chef Tanya's. Hint, hint.

I order the same thing every time I come here - ceasar salad - the dressing is epic and the croutons perfection. Soo good. Everything is vegan including the ice cream delish!

I've been here a few times and have to say, this is one of my favorite places to eat! I love the quality of their food and variety. They have ice cream, vegan of course, which is fantastic! Inside there is a little gift shop area with interesting items from candles to kitchen wares to books and food items. Everyone here is really nice as well, love this place!

I wanted to like this restaurant. It's cute and cozy inside with a lot of yummy looking items in their store section. I ordered a vanilla iced latte and the spicy chicken sandwich. The vanilla iced latte was slightly sour and the chicken sandwich had pretty good flavor, but the of the chicken was so huge I couldn't even eat it in the sandwich together without it falling apart. I also asked for no cucumbers, and it came out with cucumbers. I'm not too sure I'll give this place another try.

Always a solid choice for vegan. We went with the Guadalajara burger today. It didn't disappoint. Chef Tanya was kind enough to allow us to hold kitten adoptions next door, adjacent to her shop. I had my hubby who is a big meat eater meet me here for dinner. He enjoyed it. Vegan doesn't have to be boring & tasteless. The shop is adorable. Lots of cute things to look at. I've previously purchased a cute little tile & tote bag here. Stop in when in the area, you won't be disappointed!

Was in town for a bit and yelped a vegan place in the area, must say Chef Tanya's did not disappoint . Satisfied and perfect for cravings. From potato salad to Mac n cheese to ice cream they really hit all the points. Highly recommend! Mini market in restaurant too with lots of snack options and to go ready meals . They also had many dessert options and parking was easy and ample . Would come back if I'm in the area :)

The food is really good here. Great vegan oasis in the desert (Palm). Service is friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant never feels "rushy" and they''ve a great selection of vegan products so be OK to spend for them. Real vegan deserts too.

Ohhhh my gosh... a little dramatic, I know.... But this place is what I needed. My husband and I were looking for a light meal before StageCoach, and boy are we glad we found this. Currently sitting in the restaurant writing this review as we speak. Everything, and I mean, everything we had was delicious, full of life, and flavor. We got the Guadalajara Burger, Tasty Thai Salad, Fries, and a Guru Chai to drink. They also sell various imported goods that are vegan: Bon Bon gummies and Torres Chips... both of which are great and flavorful. After what we ate yesterday and spent a hefty amount on (stagecoach has nothing but tater tots, burgers, and grilled cheese... at almost every corner), we so appreciate this! It reminds me of food I would create at home, and this place just delivered... wow The service: efficient and friendly. Ambience: open and calm. Whoever you are Chef Tanya, Thank You!

Love, love, love this place! It's not too often that I come across a vegan/vegetarian restaurant that I actually like. And Chef Tanya's, they nailed it. If I could, I'd eat here every day, their food here is so flavorful and delicious. My favorite here was the pastrami mami, I have no idea how they made this sandwich taste so good, but it's phenomenal. My friend and I also tried the loaded sweet potato fries, and it was also yummy. I also love how this store/restaurant is full of random trinkets, to recipe books, to t-shirts, and desserts. Definitely put this on your list to visit if you are ever in the Palm Springs/Coachella area. Had a delightful experience and will return again to try the other entrees!

Vegan or omnivore, this place is a sanctuary for those looking for a healthy yummy option for lunch, dinner or dessert. Their ice cream is wonderful, you won't even miss the cow. Try the strawberry shortcake haboob, they remind me of blizzards from Dairy Queen, but without the stomach ache or sugar crash.

Drove an hour to this restaurant and was a bit disappointed by the service. We ordered ahead and somehow our order entirely disappeared despite having paid for it online. There was some confusion but we ended up paying twice until later when it was apparent the the staff that we did make an order online. Overall the experience was less than pleasing. The food was fresh and good and there are lots snacks and drinks to chose from. In addition, the store has a cute indoor and outdoor ambience. There's also a souvenir shop with cute trinkets to chose from!
