Very clean hotel, warm welcome on arrival with complimentary drinks and hot popcorn. An AI droid on meet and greet added to making a ' different' welcome experience. Room was spotlessly clean as was all bedding and towels. Staff were friendly and polite. Restaurant food was competitively priced and had a good selection. Location was ideal for theatre visits and for shopping. Readily available taxi services added to the simplicity of getting around. Would have no concerns with booking in here again.

Google
It was fine. Location, location, location. Great location! Pool was good. Some amenities for kids too. Staff was lovely. This hotel isn't cheap, and charging 40 dollars a day for parking doesn't seem fair. Doesn't come with breakfast either. Fun fact: if you move a bed against a wall for your toddler, and forget to move it back or you will be charged 80 dollars.

Family holiday stayed for 11 nights. Excellent hotel. Super busy! But all managed so well. The reception staff and concierge are phenomenal..always smiling..day or night! So helpful and really aided us when we first arrived and for the duration of our stay. We will be back!

Google
Great location in the city with lots of shopping and restaurants very close by. The rooms were clean and modern. The adult pool area and patio is also a great touch! Also shout out to James who was working in the pool area when we visited (July 20-22) he was so sweet and kind to us, it made the stay that much better to see a smiling, happy face to greet us when we got to the pool deck!!

Google
The hotel was impressive—clean, well-kept, and clearly managed with care. Check-in was smooth, and checkout just as effortless. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable, and the overall experience over the two-night stay was genuinely pleasant. The staff stood out for their attentiveness, making everything feel seamless. Plus, the location is a major perk. It is on the pricier side, though, so snagging a good deal makes all the difference

Google
The room was glorious. Very bright and elegant. The lobby is to be avoided. It's like an airport, only louder. The music coming from a nearby restaurant is appalling. But good news! You don't spend much time there. Another really good thing about this place is that when a long line develops at the registration desk, more employees show up to open up all the stations! Strange thing they do not have room service.

Google
I had a great stay here for a few nights. The waterslide is so much fun - even for adults! The rooftop adult pool is also lovely and the gym is quite large. The hotel is huge yet you don’t need to wait long for the elevators because they have them divided by floor. While the hotel is a bit older, I would book a stay here again over a newer hotel with less character and fewer amenities. You also can’t beat the location!

Google
We chose this hotel for location to an event. It was easy to get to and close to subway access. Check-in process was easy and guest service was very friendly to interact with. Basic rooms are decent size for 2 for short stays and bathroom is on the smaller side however again for our short stays that worked for us. Longer stay we may want to consider a larger option for the future. Room was clean and has the basics one would need.

Yelp
We booked through booking.com and you never know exactly what room you will get. We were able to check in early 12:30 with no issues and got a room on the 24th floor! Parking is easy and secure. The room was actually quite spacious and had a balcony that you could walk out on! I'm scared of heights so I didn't use it much lol! Check out my room review for the full tour. My only complaint is hearing sirens all night but that is because it's near a hospital. https://youtu.be/n21V97i59v4?si=2kgc6I_HaAT3hQuj

Yelp
Very nice hotel in a middle of Toronto. Location is the best thing about it. Rooms are a bit outdated and showers are old. Room was not very clean, we found someone's dirty sock under a table. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Sorry its a BIG NO from me Oh god!! The rooms are very dusty im allergic. Prolly changed room like 8x im thankful they tried to accomodate but it just didn't work out the last room i was like okay its not bad if we dont touch anything. Don't touch the curtains. I've stayed at the Chelsea before and had no issues but this stay was a complete NO i would not reccomend. All the other bad reviews i was reading i was just thinking those are picky people but boy i was wrong they all right. The front desk staff it was hard, very hard to get someone to understand my issues with the rooms being dusty and if i could get a lower floor i do not want to wait for your elevators so the lowest floor please they gave us the top floor 4x.

Yelp
This hotel is located in a great area! We were able to walk to a lot of places from the hotel. The hotel itself is very large. They have a parking garage but we were able to find cheaper parking on spot hero. The lobby is very large and has a Resturant, event space, gift shop, etc. the check in process took a whileeee so beware. The room itself was fine. It had the basics that we needed for a weekend. It also had a little balcony which was nice. I was nervous to stay here based on the other reviews, but we truly didn't mind this hotel and I'm low key a hotel snob. Lol

Yelp
Stupidly I didn't look at yelp when I booked. A complete rip off. A 2/3 star hotel masquerading as a 4 star. No mini bar, no room service, $39 to park overnight in their OWN carpark. $35 breakfast. Unfortunately a lot of the staff have broken English so it's not always clear what they're charging for. Small rooms with no view. Grubby bathtub. And all for over $300 a night. They should be ashamed of themselves. They also too $150 from my credit card for the parking. They knew we were only staying one night so where's the balance over over $100? Are they thieves on top of everything else?

Yelp
Stayed here recently and it was okay. For the price it is a bit underwhelming, but everything is pricey anymore. Room was mostly clean, balcony was a mess due to pigeons. Staff were quick at off peak times, but the lobby gets very crowded around regular check in/out times. Free popcorn though which is nice. Overall it was acceptable and okay, neither great nor bad. It has a good central location to downtown which is the main appeal.

Yelp
Early check in - check, the reception was more than happy to get us in since we reached at 1:30 instead of 3. 5/5* Room - Great view of Toronto downtown 5/5 Fridge - No fridge in the room on a hot day 3/5* AC - The ac didn't work for hours till we called front desk and asked for help 2/5* Bed - We booked Queen and we got a twin bed. We adjusted but not exactly what we paid for 1/5* Glass Door - Now saved this for the last, while the view was amazing the glass wasn't cleaned in what feels like forever, there were markings on the glass saying "clean me". The view was pathetically ruined by lack of cleaning 1/5*

Yelp
The Chelsea hotel is a one star at best. After walking around beautiful Toronto all day, came back to my room and wanted to get cleaned up for dinner. Walked in the bathroom turned on the shower and this is what I saw. Absolutely disgusting. Went downstairs and spoke with the manager he replied, "would you like me to send maintenance up". I said, "I think you're going to need to send up the hazmat team." Do yourself a favor don't stay here unless you like staying in a pig pen.

Yelp
Wow, I am kind of very sad we spent our vacation with this hotel for how much we paid. Based on their website photos of nice, new, clean rooms and what we were told by the front desk, there's borderline false advertising, so think twice if you're planning to stay at Chelsea Hotel. There is A TON of room for improvement! When booking, we requested a newer, updated room. When checking in, the front desk confirmed we would get an updated room, and when we walked into our room.... It was sadly very old and frankly unclean. Hotels misleading customers is not a good thing. If you need to use the Red elevators to get to your room, you likely have an old room. The bathroom fan turns on if the lights are on and was so incredibly loud that we wore ear plugs when we were in the restroom (except for showering of course). It was not entirely clean upon check in-- there were pieces of dried rice on the floor and a large greasy hand mark on the bed headboard (yikes!!). That was not cleaned off until we requested it to be on the third day. After our room was serviced, our bed was made with sheets that visibly had holes... awesome. Don't even think about using the balcony, as ours likely wasn't cleaned in a few years and was encrusted in dried pigeon poop. The amenities are quite poor. High speed wifi? Nope, it was extremely slow and kept disconnecting. We called the front desk to try and troubleshoot without avail, and it was frankly excruciating to try browsing anything on our phones. There's no refrigerator, and outlets are not very accessible (there's only 1 charging outlet accessible from the bed). We were excited to work out but discovered the gym is in the pool area = very humid (and chlorine-smelly) = not at all great for working out, so we never used the gym. The even sadder thing? The hotel reached out asking how our stay was going on the second day and we raised our concerns to them but never received a reply. Guess how we were doing was not a genuine concern.... It would be nice to get a reply to know that hospitality was their priority. On the positive side, it was air conditioned and the bed was comfortable. There was an express check out / key drop to avoid their never-ending lines at the front desk. The only true plus and saving grace is that the location of the hotel is convenient, just a few blocks from the subway station and with tons of restaurants nearby to choose from. I don't give out many 1 star reviews but Chelsea Hotel was literally the worst hotel experience I've had that I can remember. Bottom line-- I would most definitely recommend choosing elsewhere if there's an option until they have all their rooms renovated and improve their amenities.

Yelp
I've stayed at this hotel a few times but years ago and recently visited again. We were able to check in over an hour earlier than the stated 3pm. The overnight parking is very expensive at around $44 with tax and it's from 2pm-2pm with unlimited in and out. I didn't really have any issues with our room, it seemed clean enough and what I expected for the price. The TV is very outdated and very small. It said there was chrome cast but it didn't work. One of the biggest downsides was that the wifi was unusable. Luckily I have data and didn't stay for long but I can't imagine staying here and needing the wifi. We went to the pool which was actually nice. We asked for slippers or robes beforehand and were told they were unavailable but everyone at the pool had them so not sure if they reserve it for guests who had bigger rooms. The biggest upside is the location of the hotel, you couldn't be any closer to the downtown core and everything you need. But the location also brings some questionable people in the area and in the hotel.

Yelp
Small rooms, aircon not working we have to open windows for cool air... hallway on the 7th floor is super hot!!! We asked for additional pillows but instead small fridge was delivered to us!!!

Yelp
The hotel is conveniently located but is terribly out dated to the point I didn't feel comfortable placing my luggage on the floor or the chair. Staff was friendly. Fridge didn't work...

Yelp
Just arrive for a company event here on Wednesday. So far not impressed. Maybe they haven't updated my room because it is so far away from the main elevator

Yelp
Well, I thought I was getting a luxury hotel and was definitely bamboozled. The lobby is very nice and modern. It's up to date with a great ambiance. But when I got to the room, I was taken back by the decor and the rustic feel. The hotel is very expensive and the rooms didn't match the price paid. The room was giving Motel 6 and I paid for high end quality. I wouldn't waste your money booking....unless it's your last option. They really need to do some remodeling and update the rooms to match the price. I was really disappointed......the 2 stars was for the bed. They were very soft and comfortable.

Yelp
This is the largest hotel in Canada because there are 1,590 guest rooms and suites. There are convention rooms (on the second floor), 3 restaurants (on the ground floor), a KidZone with 2 indoor pools and has an indoor water slide where one part goes outdoors. There is paid underground hotel parking. It is in the heart of downtown being close to Eaton Centre, Yonge-Dundas Square, movie theatres, other restaurants, etc. There is an outdoor courtyard where they can host outdoor activities like BBQ events. There are two main towers. One was renovated after 2010 so is more modern but the other tower looks very dated. It was opened 1975-10-15 and operated by Delta Hotels as Delta Chelsea Inn. On 2012-12-19, it was purchased by Great Eagle Holdings and was changed to Delta Chelsea Toronto and under control of its subsidiary Langham Hospitality Group. On 2013-07-01, it was renamed Eaton Chelsea. In early 2015, it was rebranded as Chelsea Hotel. Being near several downtown hospitals, a patient of the hospital can pay a reduced rate. The hotel hosts many air crews. One of the check-in counters has stairs with 3 steps where young guests can check-in. During the Dec holiday period, there are holiday-related displays including a gingerbread house contests where guests anonymously vote for their favourite design. Going around the houses is an electric train. There is a Santa Claus during the month of Dec where you can take pictures for free. The line is never more than 2 long. Throughout the year, they have hand out free popcorn and/or soft drinks. There is free WiFi. There are washrooms on the ground floor. Unfortunately in the near future, the entire property will be converted into 3 towers, 2 as hotels and 1 as an office tower. There will be retail businesses on the first 2 floors. 2021-003

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel on Labor Day weekend. I stayed with my husband and two children 11 years old and 12 years old. On Sunday morning I woke up with about a dozen bites that unfortunately I immediately knew was bedbugs, considering I am a social worker in the field and I've dealt with many clients who had bedbugs and knew what I was looking at. We immediately requested from the office to be moved to another hotel room and also asked for trash bags to bag up our belongings. Then during our vacation, we unfortunately had to drive around for hours to find a laundromat and then find Canadian money to be able to do our laundry with. It was not how I envisioned spending our vacation time. When approaching the front desk requesting a refund for our stay, we were told that they could only reimburse us for one night although we stayed for three, they told us that RCI through where we paid for our hotel room would have to be the ones to refund us. The hotel said they would waive us the one night that they gave us a new room. Upon talking to RCA today they also told me that they are not held liable for bedbugs, and that only falls on the hotel. It is over one week later, and I am highly disappointed, as I am still dealing with the ripple effects of the bedbug bites. Unfortunately, I had an allergic reaction and ended up with large welts on my arms and hands. I paid for a decent priced hotel room, had to pay extra money for laundry, lost time on my vacation, now have lost time at work having to attend doctors appointments due to this allergic reaction and I'm also having to take medication. And the hotel doesn't seem to care.

Yelp
I needed a one night stay in Toronto and, despite the low star reviews on here, I decided to book the Chelsea Hotel because it has a central location and I got a room for about $100 USD. I booked a standard room with one queen sized bed and it was exactly what I needed for a one night stay. The bed was comfortable. The shower could have had better water pressure, but it wasn't terrible. The room itself was a bit too warm for my preference and I tried to lower the temp using the thermostat and turning the fan on, but instead of any air conditioning, lukewarm air just came out. I opened up the balcony door to let in the cold air from outside instead, but of course couldn't leave it open overnight. Other small issues: no vent/fan in the bathroom, so if you take long showers, it's going to get really steamy. Ice machine on my floor was broken, as were the two floors above and one below. Finally found one that worked two floors below (they're remodeling parts of the hotel and I assume this is why so many were out of order). The cold water handle in the bathroom sink didn't fully turn "off," to stop the water flow I had to move it to a very specific spot or else it would keep leaking. Check in line was very long and a friend who has also stayed here said that's common. Staff was friendly, though. That all sounds pretty bad, but considering I only paid $100 USD for one night, I'm not too upset. If I was staying longer I would have addressed some of these issues with the staff to see if they could be remedied. But overall, if you're looking for a decent hotel that's located downtown within walking distance of a lot of attractions, this is an A-ok spot.

Star T.

Yelp
Very centrally located to downtown. Jonathan at the front desk was STELLAR when we needed a little extra help. Kid friendly - except the restaurants. Had a great waitress at the sit down pub located inside the hotel who did her best to accommodate a 10-year old and would give her 5-stars if that was an option. Very disappointed in the breakfast options - paid $44 for a light breakfast and single cup of coffee due to very unclear signage on what was considered in pricing options. There are three Tim Hortons and other deli type breakfast places nearby if you don't mind walking a couple of blocks. If you're driving here, make sure to plan for parking fees and take notice of the 5'5" clearance to enter the underground ramp. You'll be fine to walk around underground after you enter but that initial ramp was a little nerve wracking!

Yelp
Staying here for work and this hotel is terrible. - hole in the wall from damage - funky smell when I first got in - air conditioning makes a whistling noise - bath shower is so old and leaks when turning off - shower head pressure is non-existent - huge lines at concierge and they don't staff accordingly But this one triumphs all... My comforter has dried blood ALL over it I'd suggest staying somewhere else

Yelp
I never write reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences of my life. The thermostat in our hotel was broken. Initially was told that it was the circuit breaker. The next day, they told us "it was reversed," whatever that means. When we tried to call the front desk from our room, we were placed on hold for over 10-15 minutes. The bathroom was incredibly small, and disgusting. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

Yelp
Chelsea Hotel, I am happy to follow up on my Aug. 4th, 2023 review, and report that I was contacted by L. M., Guest Experience Specialist of Chelsea Hotel, Toronto advising me that they take customer' feedback very seriously to better serve and please. My wife and I are so happy now to learn that Chelsea Hotel acknowledged our experience and they are on the way to prevent same from happening again and to ensure highest quality to all customer. Thank you L. M. And Chelsea Hotel. My family and I will try another stay during our future visit to Downtown Toronto. Best regards Mohamad A.

Yelp
Nice hotel and staff but the rooms are a little outdated. Walking distance to all main attractions in downtown Toronto.

Yelp
The hotel shows as a 4 star hotel on Google, but they're a 3 star hotel. I asked for a bottle of water for the room and they refused to provide any water, and told me the restaurant is closed and I have to find somewhere to but a bottle. They event went so far as to say "we don't provide water in Canada"!!!! I'm Canadian, stayed at many Canadian hotels, travel for work regularly, and it's the first time ever I've been refuse a bottle of water!!!

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Do NOT stay at the Chelsea. They are rude, abrasive and behave like thugs. This hotel lies to their customers and management allows their employees to physically threaten and intimate guests. Stay away for your own and others physical safety. I was staying at the Chelsea with my parents. They left for a wedding and I stayed in the room. At 8pm I got a call from the front desk saying that they didn't have payment for the room and they needed it now. They had actually accepted and logged my dad's credit card at check in but I didn't know this at the time. I told them he's busy and he will deal with it when he gets back tonight or when we check out in the morning. They said they need it now and asked that I call my dad. Without any disrespect I said that even if I could call him I wouldn't since this is the wedding of his closest friend and the issue did not seem urgent to me. They never gave me an explanation as to why they needed payment that night. They said they would call back later. An hour later they called again and the same conversation ensued. I told them that if it mean't so much them I would take my dad's card down there to the desk when he returned but I also made no effort to help them because they failed to provide I reason why they were demanding payment before our stay was finished or why it was so desperate at 9 o'clock at night. An hour and a half after call #2 ended I hear banging on the door "security." I answer the door and a blonde guy and a bearded guy with dark hair were at the door. Both in suits and brandishing walkie talkies. I told them " I don't know how many times I have to explain to you guys. He's at a wedding. You ever been to one of those? They take a long time." Security responded they they had called him and he hadn't answered. I had to explain that he is STILL at the wedding and he isn't beholden to answering their calls. "Well we gave him ample time to respond." Note that this conversation is 2.5 hours after call #1. I wasn't sure what they wanted since my dad had paid for the room and I'm a poor student so if they wanted me to pay for the room that was an extremely uncertain possibility. They told me that because my name wasn't on the reservation (they did not know my name nor did I tell them) I would have to leave the room and wait in the lobby until someone paid for the room. This was a lie. My name was put on the registry. I asked on what basis they were going to kick me out of the room. They said because of "liability." I asked "what liability?" No answer. "Liability of what?" No answer again. "Why does it need to be paid tonight?" No answer again. I didn't need it spelled out for me. The reason they had sent up two security guys and not someone from management was that they intended to drag me out of my room if someone didn't pay. I decide to bite the bullet and pay for the room. Fortunately my mom had left her card so this may not go badly for me. They escorted me in the elevator down to the desk. I tried to use my mother's card and they told me I would need a credit card authorization form. Out of luck and another lie. I had to roll the dice and pay with my card. I didn't know how much the room cost and to say I was concerned about what would happen next would be an understatement. Fortunately for me I had enough on the card and was allowed to go back to my room. My dad got back and to say he was angry would be, again, an understatement. After confronting the night watchman, an apology and an explanation was extracted. Their system had "glitched" and lost his method of payment he had used at check in. He said that none of this was our fault. I asked the watchman "What would have happened if I hadn't had enough money on my card?" "Well then you would have been kicked out of the hotel" at midnight. It seems to me that anyone who stays at the Chelsea is at risk of being thrown out on a whim or physically assaulted and given the United Airlines treatment. Do not leave children or adolescents alone in their room at the Chelsea because there is no redress of grievances and management either doesn't care or actively condones it's staff bullying customers. It also seems obvious to me, based on my experience, that your payment information is not safe either. If a "glitch" can remove your credit card information from their computers, what else can?

Hope D.

Yelp
This rooms at this hotel is very run down and the bathrooms are just the same. When we checked in there was someone's hair still in our tub and all over the bathroom floor. We called housekeeping twice and they said they will send someone up....3 hours later no one showed up. There are other hotels in the city, so you might want to stay there instead.

Yelp
On Saturday, June 25, 2022, four (4) friends and I had a reservation to stay one (1) night in Chelsea's Family Fun Suite. During our stay, we experienced unsatisfactory service levels. Below is a detailed recount of the experience. My friends and I reserved the Family Fun Suite specifically for the space it allowed us, particularly the room arrangements. We arrived to the hotel at 2:30 pm ET, and attempted an early check-in. Understandably, we were told the room wasn't available, and to check in at 3:00 pm ET, which is the time indicated on the reservation. I returned to the check-in desk at 3:10 pm ET, and was told once more that the room wasn't available. It appeared as if they hadn't started cleaning the room. I'm bewildered by the fact that they didn't catch this at 2:30 pm ET, when I first attempted to check in. I was told to go to the side as the employee sorted the logistics. We asked for another space, as we had a planned evening starting at 4:30 pm ET, and they agreed to provide us with a temporary standard room. Needless to say, five (5) women preparing for an evening in a standard room was far from ideal, and far from what we paid for. At 3:45 pm ET, we gained access to the temporary room - 45 minutes after the 3:00 pm ET check-in time. At this time, still uncertain of when we'd receive access to the Family Fun Suite. We awkwardly rushed to get ready in the temporary room. We left for the evening at 4:10 pm ET, and received a phone call at 4:18 pm ET that the Family Fun Suite was available. During the phone call, the employee's communication convened urgency to change rooms. As a result, a friend and I decided to immediately return and change rooms, which resulted in being late for our dinner reservation. If it had not been for the urgency expressed in the phone call, we would not have returned so quickly. Furthermore, due to the loss in time, we were unable to experience the hotel's amenities - such as the much-anticipated waterslide, which was another reason why we chose the Chelsea Hotel Toronto. I will not return, nor will I recommend that others visit. I emailed the hotel immediately following our stay, and their lack of customer service remains evident. I requested a partial refund, which they've denied as their records indicate a lack of inconvenience given we checked into the Family Fun Suite at 4:36 pm ET.

Yelp
In spite of some off-putting reviews here, I found the Chelsea to be clean, convenient and affordable, equal to a Holiday Inn or a Comfort Inn.

Tyler S.

Yelp
I had mixed feelings beforehand seeing other reviews, but the hotel was a good experience. It was busy during check in, and their parking garage is very tight, and old. With that said the hotel did try to mitigate the check in lines with free popcorn and a robot for entertainment, so they were trying. The room was clean, and walkable to pretty much everything. I noticed it is a very kid friendly hotel, but I do not have any kids. As long as the price is decent I would recommend this hotel.

Yelp
This hotel is very deceptive. The lobby area is nice but the rooms are old and unfit. The hotel rooms smell like smoke and mildew the carpet doesn't look clean and the bathroom is very small and the big towels to dry off leave little pieces of it on your skin. And they lock the bathrooms at night and don't open them till 6am so if you have to go really bad you better hurry to your room. This hotel is 380 plus dollars and definitely not worth it.

Yelp
I stayed a weekend at Chelsea hotel in Toronto for a work conference. My initial entry , I had hard time to understand my attendant at the check in, since I am sharing my room with coworkers; I wanted to make sure the bills can be split. It was so complicated for the guy, finally we came to understand each other better. Don't get me wrong, he was super nice. The language barrier was an issue between us. The reception area is humongous and beautiful. The elevators are old and little run down. I stayed on the 19th floor. The hallway were very spooky. My room was far from the elevators, i felt I would never reach to my room. Finally, I entered my room, which had two standard beds, and a washroom. The room was pretty, clean and tight. Anyway, the washroom was clean and well functioning. Beds were very comfortable. The room has thin walls, therefore the noise from neighbors and from the street was too disturbing. Initially, the conference/Chelsea hotel provided us pretty dry food buffet for breakfast and lunch (croissants, muffins, fruits with coffee and tea, then sandwiches with salad, and mini brown sugar tarts. Thankfully, evening buffet supper was hearty with salmon, roasted vegetables, and pilaf. On my last day, at breakfast, there were breakfast sandwiches with meat only. I was disappointed since I am a vegetarian. Eva who is bringing out food from the kitchen, I asked if there is a vegetarian option, she was so nice, she said, she will get a vegan sandwich, I can sit down and she will bring to my table. And she did, a huge bow to Eva for being so nice and she took care of my hungry belly. As for the amenities, I enjoyed their pool on the deck, i was able to some laps then soaked myself in their hot whirlpool, which was super relaxing. At the end of my stay, the reception cleared my bill, and I was on my way home, happily ever after.

Yelp
If I can give it a 0 star, I would do so. Absolutely terrible hotel. No drinking water, no gym, unusable internet, dirty bathroom. Ugh

Yelp
If you are on a business trip, pls do not stay here. Their wifi is almost unusable. And the people here is not professional, I was trying to ask detailed information about my stay, but different ppl here gave different answers. Do not stay here.

Yelp
Exemplary service at check-in and a smooth process. A few dining options available but mostly for breakfast and supper; grab-&-go mid-day. Be sure and enroll in their members program to receive point rewards and level benefits. Overall a comfortable well appointed room with everything one needs for a short stay; and a Balcony with great City views. I am not a fan of powdered coffee but Tim Hortons is just off the corner at ground-level. Take the time to visit the roof-top terrace where the pool and gym are located; exit the elevator (Blue) at floor 26. Buen viaje!

Yelp
First impression: Inelegantly old and inexplicably overpriced. We walked into a room with only 1 bed so we requested a cot for our child, since there wasn't even a decent sized sofa for her to sleep on. They gave us the option of a $20 one time charge or an upgrade to two doubles for $15/night. Ah well, at least an upgrade would get us a better room than the sad little 7th floor one we were currently calling from, right? No such luck. The 12th floor room was just as depressing, the RR lights just as dingy, and the carpet as well equipped to hide dirt and mustard stains as the 7th floor carpeting. Its redeeming qualities were its central downtown location, the amazing views, separate indoor pools for adults (27th floor) and children (2nd), in which there was a thrilling slide (according to DH), life vests, pool noodles, and a whirlpool. Outside the swimming area are an arcade and a dry play area for small children. And like another Yelper mentioned, on our last of 2 nights, the fire alarm sounded for about 30 minutes, with intermittent announcements about investigations into an incident on the 2nd floor. People on floors 1, 2, and 3 were evacuated while everyone else was told to stay in their rooms. This was after 10 pm. On the one hand we were ready for bed, it was getting chilly outside, and we would've had to go down 12 floors. On the other hand, my child is freaking out and I'm standing on the balcony gauging our chances of survival if we had to jump or climb down. Last impression was the same as my first, but a little more tempered by time, distance, and the comfort of writing this from my own bed.

Yelp
Nice location Downtown, near Yonge-Dundas Square. I got lost on my old GPS, and was so happy to arrive at a nice looking hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly, and answered my questions about parking. I got a corner room, spacious with a balcony. Too bad it is the middle of winter. I can see Yonge-Dundas Sq from my room window. Also, the CN Tower was visible from my room. Very nice at night. The room was clean, and comfortable. The hotel has a good Bar-Restaurant the T|Bar and a Market Garden on the Go, Expresso & Wine Bar. That are open until Midnight. The Bathroom needs upkeep. The ceiling paint was about to peel and caulking around the sink counter was cracked. The Hotel gets packed with airlines crews. Reception and lobby gets long check in - check out lines. I was lucky when I checked in, it was empty.

Yelp
My original review said 11am instead of pm, so the check in time wasn't the issue, the staff sent me to an uncleaned room late in the evening and then the checkout lines were so long when I was trying to leave that I had my assistant call to make sure I was checked out, otherwise I would have missed my meeting.

Yelp
Only great thing about this place is the location. Otherwise, not a good place to stay. They do not value their guests, needs and experiences. Did not even try to. No matter what their excuses and comments in their responses. Actions speak louder than words. Very disappointed with my stay. I get a better treatment and warm hospitality from a motel.

Yelp
I very reluctantly want to leave a very poor review of this hotel and their staff and management. After we showed up and we're in a room for 20 minutes with the heat on the highest setting, we called the front desk. They told us the heat was broken. They then informed us that it wouldn't be fixed for two weeks. This is a large hotel with more than 400 rooms. I can't believe they didn't notify the guest before their arrival of this essential service in a hotel to have heat. We called down the next day and confirmed it still would be another week. The final straw was upon checking out, the printer couldn't work and they told us it would be 5 to 10 minutes to get a copy of the bill. I then asked to speak to the manager and the clerk promptly told me without checking that the manager was probably in a meeting and not available for another 30 minutes.. I don't come to Toronto often, but I'll make sure I avoid staying at this hotel again.

Yelp
Health and safety violation in the hotel I am submitting this on June 12 at 3:30 AM in Toronto at the Chelsea hotel. The hotel does not make available bottled water to guests. The vending machines on the seventh and ninth floor do not work. There is no access to the fourth floor from the elevator. And yet the Night Shift manager of the hotel Teresa Clark, told me to go to the fourth floor. It is unimaginable that a hotel manager of a hotel of this size would have such a little regard for A guest to actually send them to a floor that cannot be accessed from the elevator. To make matters worse, the front desk attendant explained that there is a 24 hour grocery store outside of the hotel on Gerard Street. He explained that if I leave the hotel and go to the right to the end of the street at the traffic lights there would be a 24 hour grocery store. I did so and there was no grocery store there. It is extremely poor form for the hotel to put staff at the front desk who would provide the wrong instructions to hotel guests at 3 o'clock in the morning when they are just looking for water. I will always also be submitting a complaint to the city of Toronto's health and safety for tourism regarding the standards in the hotel. I travel on a regular basis, I have stayed in hotels all over the world, and I can say with genuine honesty this is the worst hotel experience. This is without a doubt, one of the worst managed hotels I've had the displeasure of staying at not only in the city of Toronto but anywhere in the world.

Yelp
When I think of the Chelsea Hotel, I harken back to a long forgotten movie, "Beyond the Forest" where legend Bette Davis' character looks around and exclaims, "What. A. Dump!" No hotel has gotten off to such of a wrong foot (at least in my experience): A dingy, labyrinth of an underground garage with horror-movie yellow lights and limbo-stick low clearance that assures you'll be leaving the SUV at home. For a hotel guest, the rate is a stunning $27 per day. Then came a check-in line that took 30 MINUTES to get through (!) and their mish-mash of poorly organized velvet ropes led to a verbal brouhaha in the lobby. Guys, if any time is right to have people working each computer, it's when your lobby looks take a riot scene! The rooms have a great view and the bedding is good. The hallways, however, have a look and odor I haven't smelt since a debauched weekend I spent at a mediocre Vegas hotel. The friggin WiFi didn't work. And wasn't fixed. And the toilet (when flushed) was so loud I was left with post-concert ear-ringing I haven't had since a AC/DC concert 20+ years ago. The Chelsea Hotel name carries gravitas, as the NYC counterpart is the stuff of legend. Toronto's Chelsea Hotel fails to live up to that name. As the largest hotel in all of Canada, it also lets down a whole nation. It is, however, in a great location, has a great pool, and, well, is the Chelsea Hotel.

Yelp
** edit. May have spoke too soon. Woke to a fire alarm at 12:15. Went into the hallway where there were many of us. Another patron said she's stayed here many times and it's a false alarm. ( she said it's the 6th time ) Happens often. Sure enough , it was a false alarm! This leaves more questions than answers. The first being , why would this woman stay here more than once. Okay benefit of doubt , more than twice. It won't be me I can certainly say that ! I do feel bad for the staff. Friendly staff and seamless check in. The hotel is very clean and up to date. Our room is clean , well kept and roomy. The hotel is conveniently located and by comparison to hotels close by , well priced. Glad we took a chance on booking here as some of the reviews on here were not favourable.

Yelp
We came here for those murder mystery dinner, so this review doesn't really reflect the hotel for its room and related service. From the outside, the hotel seems to be very old. Not sure how long it's been there. It is a very busy hotel, at times seem chaotic, but the front desk was able to help us Fairly quickly to where we want to go. There seems to be many levels with colour- coded elevators leading to many places. It also seems to be a hotel that host a lot of activities. The only thing I have to say is that the air seems a bit stale. The murder mystery dinner was hosted by "mysteriously yours" I suspect they prob rent dining hall from Chelsea Hotel and have them cater the buffet. The buffet was of generous portion, pretty tasty though quite standard selection of food (3 types of salad, steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, 2 proteins). The service was pretty on point

Yelp
Went to their patio for some drinks and the bar was disorganized. First, the bartender clearly did not know his beer on hand. The beer was not cold on tap so they needed to go inside to pour a cold draft. Last but not least, I paid cash but their math skills clearly are lacking. Patio is hidden away from yonge street so less car pollution while enjoying the patio. The sun will not be shining on you and could be plus or minus in your books. Didn't try to food but the patio is nice. Probably only good for a quick drink with friends before moving on to other places.

Yelp
I need two things in a hotel beyond a comfortable bed and a clean room: 1. Good WiFi, so I can get work done, and 2. A quiet room since I sleep very lightly. While this hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable, that's about where it ended. I had huge problems with the wifi - barely getting 1-2 Kbps at times, despite a full-strength signal. The hotel takes no responsibility for wifi technical support - you have to call a separate tech support line. They confirmed my wifi sucked, but couldn't fix it. The problem lasted intermittently for 3 days. It was very difficult to get work done as a result. The windows are like paper. There was construction down the street, and I was on the 17th floor. Every morning at 5am, the noise from the trucks arriving was like I was sleeping outside. Very frustrating. Service was good, and the room was large and clean. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
A disappointment . Over 40 people in the registration line. Took 40 minutes to get to the front counter to register. Then the room they gave me had black mold in the tub. Come on....give me a break

Josie B.

Yelp
This is not a 4 star hotel. The amenities are old, the tub is chipped and not draining. There is no fridge. There is a small piece of soap provided. It's time to face it - it needs to be renovated.

Yelp
The lady named Rose was absolutely rude and was of no help. The shower was broken. The AC was broken. There was a cockroach in my room. The room had a weird smell. My bedsheets had strands of hair. They charged me for a deluxe breakfast for two even though I was alone during my stay and did not eat breakfast. I tried to get a refund and told management to look at security footage to show that I never stepped foot in the breakfast room and that I was the only one going in and out of my hotel room, but they still denied a refund. Very outdated hotel. My flight was cancelled so this was a last minute booking. Avoid staying at this hotel if possible.

Yelp
I was here the first week of August 2019.. my room was on the 18th floor. The elevator situation is not very good but you just kinda deal with it.. I would recommend they add ac inside as 10 people in a elevator was hot! The room was perfect and had a great view of the city. It was loud but was able to get to sleep no issue. The hotel is about a block away from the subway and easy to get around.. there was a McDonald's on each corner. I did use the fitness center and it had a great people and views from the top floor. The WiFi seemed fine to me and I did not have any issues.. that was my biggest fear. I was not able to check in early but this hotel is pack! Overall I would stay here again !

Yelp
Honestly not impressed. Ive stayed at the Chelsea hotel in the states near where I live and loved it so I had high hopes for my most recent trip to Toronto with my husband. We were told we were getting an upgraded room... we got the exact room we paid for, no upgrades. After a bad snow storm hit our path home we decided to stay another night until the roads cleared. This hotel didn't make that easy, the staff wasn't welcoming rather blunt and not personable. They had me call the reservation department to extend our stay which I did, was told there wouldn't be an additional hold on my credit card since we already currently had a hold. Got back to the desk was told no way they can waive the hold so now I have $300 pending on my credit card. The room was very average, bathroom very outdated and the thermostat was broken it was extremely hot in the room to the point I cracked the balcony door to let some cool air in to be able to sleep.

Yelp
A decent convention centre, but its age is definitely showing. You'd think I'd have a glowing review for this place, considering that I went to a luncheon event where the Prime Minister of Canada's wife spoke, but somehow this hotel found a way to surprise me. I wasn't even expecting to come here, but decided at the last minute (media coverage and a free lunch - first world problems) to make the trek with my co-worker into the city, just past Yonge/Dundas Square, to this hotel. The first thing I noticed upon entering the hotel was that it was extremely busy. Maybe it's always like that at 10 a.m. on Thursdays, but I saw an extremely-disorganized line with people grumbling as they waited. Noticing that the nearby restaurant, T Bar, was also closed, I chalked it up to "one of those days" and went upstairs. After dealing with an offsite event organizer who mixed up our tickets, we finally got inside and had access to a media table in the room. I noted that this was a decent, if fairly unappealing space (the Roosevelt Ballroom) that looked like it was in need of sprucing up. The event itself, helmed by the Economic Club of Canada, went fine, but I constantly found myself thinking that I was sitting in a ballroom from the 70s. The fact that the coffee and tea station outside seemingly ran dry and was taken out, not to be replaced for the rest of the day, also seemed kind of stingy to me. My co-worker and I ended up staying for lunch afterwards and had what appeared to be some kind of herb-crusted chicken on-top of a bed of rice. I give the staff props for being extremely organized and diligent - they had platters of dishes coming out of their nearby kitchen like an assembly line - but the food itself was just ho-hum. I feel like they could have done more with it (maybe season it?), and compared to the dish I had at a similar Economic Club function held at the Hilton Toronto last month (grilled salmon over a bed of couscous), this was sorely lacking. I'd probably go back to the Chelsea again for another event, but I'd advise anyone attending conferences here to keep your expectations in check. Service variations and a blah lunch pared down what was otherwise a solid 4-star venue.
