The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, not charming, as most of the other B&B's I have stayed at in Key West. There was much room for improvement on the breakfast as well. It was more in the style of standard breakfast at chain hotels, missing the hot foods. Hard boiled eggs were like rubber and bagels stale. We ate out after trying it once. Front desk could be more friendly and welcoming. Pool was great and good location.

A really beautiful hotel. The staff is nice and very helpful. The rooms are modern with AC, TV and free wifi. It has a nice small pool and everything is clean. The breakfast could be a bit bigger but you can eat next to the pool which is great. Overall I had a pleasant stay at this hotel and great two days in marvelous Key West

Google
Clean and comfortable accomodations with a small pool. It was missing a desk which I guess is not expected in a vacation place like this but it was a partial working trip for me and I missed having a workspace. The grounds were well kept and the staff courteous. Located close to everything we wanted to do with a reasonably priced bike rental shop just a few blocks away. Good AC in the room, comfortable beds and a nice shower. I would stay here again.

This hotel was fantastic! It had a very homely feel to it, and everything was conveniently located close by to our room. It is a great place to stay in while visiting Key West, as Duval street is very close by. The staff were very friendly and one person helped us plan out all the attractions to visit. He was very kind in particular, and I thank him for making our stay much more enjoyable! My only complaints are that the bathroom door didn’t lock, the setup in the bathroom was a little cramped for a two bed room, and they charged $20 per night for parking in their parking lot. Other than that it was great! There was nice outdoor seating and a pool as well. The breakfast was good too. Would recommend to anyone planning a stay in Key West! *Just find better parking*

My husband and I have stayed at this bed and breakfast many times. We have always had a great experience. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are always clean. They have made recent changes as far as charging for parking $10 (not bad) and they aren't going to allow pets anymore. But I have no complaints. It's a few blocks from Duval Street but an easy walk. If you rent bikes they have plenty of bike racks to lock it up. They also offer continental breakfast which is decent. There are plenty of things to do with in walking distance. I would recommend Chelsea House to couples and small families.

All of the staff was excellent, incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The House was a great place to stay as well. The location close to Duval, but quiet was very much appreciated. We had a room at pool level with out own patio area separated by a railing from the pool area. I will come back and ask for the same location. No noise could be heard inside the room, which made it feel very private. Breakfast was served only a few meters from our door step so getting coffee and coffee re-fills was like walking to the kitchen at home. The two cats wandering the grounds are adorable and well cared for by the staff. I will be coming back to this hotel and will be recommending it. It felt so nice and close to everything, comfortable and relaxing at the same time, with very friendly and accommodating staff.

Stayed here for my birthday and was extremely pleased! Easy check in process and fantastic location. Room was super cute and cozy with a great view of the pool. Pool was clean and inviting, not overly crowded which was also nice. Will definitely be back!

This was a very good quality hotel! It was close to the main streets of Key West. The hotel rooms were very clean as well. We were greeted with excellent customer service, as well as advice on which attractions to go to for a day in Key West. There was also a nice pool, as well as outdoor seating. My only complaints: the bathroom was rather cramped and parking cost $20 a night. Otherwise, this was a really great hotel and I would DEFINITELY recommend it!

Yelp
Eric, the concierge, was FABULOUS! Very helpful, patient and super nice. The Chelsea House itself was okay. Great location. Comfortable bed. Free continental breakfast, although the boiled eggs didn't taste good. The pool was small. My shower had no hot water the entire time I was there. There was a HUGE waterbug or cockroach in my room the first night. That sucker was so big, it could leap from one place to the next. It was gross, but I'm not sure how avoidable that is in Key West when chickens and iguanas cross the road like humans. Window AC units. It's an old, charming house, so don't expect the most modern of conveniences, but it's a decent place to stay right on Truman at a good price.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Chelsea House for two nights. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. We booked the junior suite, which had a large king bed, mini kitchen and a nice patio with chairs and a hammock. Our room was next to the pool, which was convenient for us, as we spent several hours out there. The pool was small, but it was never really crowded. The hotel even offered breakfast in the morning. Our only gripe is when we arrived, we were given the wrong keys and had to walk back to the front desk (which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so hot and we weren't so anxious to get settled). There was also no iron in the room, but had an ironing board. Lastly, there wasn't anything for us to say we didn't want turndown services. We were surprised the next day when we came back and someone had been to our room. Otherwise, we'd recommend and likely stay again.

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Chelsea House! We were in a King room, which was spacious and clean. The bathroom was ultra modern, which I loved. The shower did take awhile for the hot water to begin, but it was a good pressure throughout. The pool was directly behind our room which was super convenient! The bed was comfy and we slept really well. The continental breakfast was basics: cold and hot cereals, fresh breads, bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juice, and coffee. The coffee was delicious, a mountain roast medium bold blend. We really enjoyed our stay and noted how quiet it was at night, even though it is right on Truman off Duval. We would definitely stay here again! You can't beat the close location to everything and the fair price! We walked everywhere without problem and absolutely loved it!

Yelp
Booking was easy but on arrival I was greeted by a customer loudly arguing with reception about items stolen from her room by house keeping with the staff being rude and unhelpful. Not a great start. We paid premium for a 2 x queen room (number 11) over the New Year period and it turned out to be very expensive for what it actually was. The room decor was horrible with popcorn style stucco on the walls in a cream color that looked exactly like 20 years build up of cigarette tar in a dive bar. A dusty old fireplace which desperately needed cleaning and a modern shower which looked great until you used it and it leaked all over the bathroom floor as the door didn't seal properly. The rooms they use on their website don't match up to reality. Oh and the mattresses are hard and lumpy and gave us all back ache. Our room wasn't cleaned the first day and hubby had to go to reception and request they would definitely clean it the next day as we needed fresh towels after mopping up the bathroom floor flooding! Plus the noise was overwhelming - no sound proofing so all you hear are people walking up and down the external wooden staircases, moans from midnight exercise sessions!, doors slamming, people yelling, noisy traffic especially motorbikes, and suitcases being dragged around by guests as there are no elevators and a lot of aforementioned stairs. The pool is miniature and this is where the continental breakfast is served. It is basic and cold, including the coffee, and the boiled eggs can replace tennis balls they are so hard and rubbery. Oddly the chocolate muffins were quite tasty! Parking was expensive ($21.50 per day) in their small dirt car park so we declined and parked right outside on the street instead. It was easy as there were still vacant rooms in the hotel. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel as it is expensive and doesn't deliver what it promises.

Yelp
I was not impressed at first, however the manager Matt went above and beyond to make it right! And I will be back in the future and give it another stay! Thanks Matt

Yelp
We stayed here last Saturday, July 13th. We decided the night before to drive to Key West and stay overnight..spur of the moment. Booked a 2 queen and was surprised that this particular hotel had an availability. Arrived at 9pm Saturday night and just washed our faces, brushed teeth and went out for the night. We told our cab driver where we were staying and he immediately praised that this hotel was one of the best. Here are the goods: 1) Spacious modern room. Our 2 queen room was by the pool. 2) Terrace with couple of chairs. 3) Clean linens and fresh towels. 4) Flat Screen, Dryer, Iron, Safe, Wine Fridge 5) Free Parking 5) Upgraded Bathroom (but here comes the bad) The Bad: 1) The Clogged Tub (See Pics): After a night out of bar hopping, I specifically set my alarm at 9am to call for a late check out cause any extra minutes of sleep counts :) The front desk said it was OK to check out at 12noon. Great! Then I noticed the limited pre-prepped continental breakfast was being served so I ran out of the room to grab some bites. The coffee was awesome btw. I decided to stay up and take a shower while my friend went back to sleep. I started running the hot water, got in and noticed the water was above my ankle. I assumed that the tub drain was closed so I opened it....still not draining. I kept opening and closing the drain to see if the water recedes but no luck. After I few wiggling of the drain, then comes out a ball of hair...disgusting! I had to pull it out cause now the water was almost on my calves and worried that my friend was not able to shower in this condition. It was like being in the flooded streets of Miami after a thunderstorm...lol! So I kept on pulling it with a towel then more hair came out and water started draining a little. I proceeded to take a shower and it's now 10:45, so much time wasted unclogging the drain so I can just be considerate to the next person. Well the water didn't drain all the way so I told my friend that he would have to deal with this issue while I go to the front counter, not to complain but to bring to their attention. 2) Front Desk Attitude: So I walked in to the registration and asked for the manager. I mentioned about the clog and she asked me what room we where staying. She immediately followed with "You know check was at 11am" in a condescending manner. Not an apology first but tried to turn the situation to "we did something wrong". I responded "Do not go there" cause her comment just made the situation worse and I was beginning to get angry but I stopped myself and said that that my friend is in the shower now and just want to get out of there. If we took a shower before we went out last night, the situation might have been worse cause there's no front desk after 10pm. The point is, we paid a premium for the night ($268) and this hotel was considered one of the best so this experience was not expected from a Historic Key West B & B! Trust me..I go to Key West often for quick getaways and worry free relaxation and don't like giving negative reviews. In addition, I got stopped by another couple outside the registration area and they were very sympathetic about my issue cause they also had problems in their room. WOW! With numerous B&Bs around Key West, this place had all the beauty outside but they need to pay extra attention with maintenance.

Joe P.

Yelp
We checked into this B&B and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The process was fast and we were onto our room. The room was just as expected, we booked a standard Queen and it was small but very clean. As soon as we got in, Jeff from the front desk knocked on our door to let us know to check with him in 2 days for a better room as we were staying a week. Two days later we inquired at the desk and moved to another room, standard Queen but with more room and a much bigger bathroom. The property is quiet, clean and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was ready at 8am each day and just enough to take the edge off the night before. They have 2 pools on property with lounge chairs and towels available. Our room was cleaned well each day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Key West. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34345-d247847-r570801818-Chelsea_House_Hotel_in_Key_West-Key_West_Florida_Keys_Florida.html#

Yelp
First off, they have an amazing and friendly staff and great service! And a FREE PARKING LOT for guests, say bye-bye to paying for side street parking! Location/area: Great location! 2 blocks away from Duval St., so you're close enough to where all the action takes place but far enough that if you want to relax and get away from the all the noise and business at night you can. And it's also right across the from the only Catholic Church in Key West (I think lol). 10 mins from South Beach, 20 mins walk to Mallory Square, Key West Aquarium, The Shipwreck Museum, etc. Hotel: It has 3 different buildings, 2 of them are 2 stories and the main building where the front desk is at has 3 stories. NO ELEVATORS, so either pack light or have some one carry your luggage up the stairs. As for the room, my mom and I got the cheapest room, which was economy. But when we got there the guy at the front desk upgraded us to a larger room FREE OF CHARGE (it's was my mom's birthday the day we checked in, so I don't think they do this sort of thing all the time, but it was extremely nice of them). The room we stayed in was room 26 on the 2nd floor of the 2nd building. The room had a HUGE BED. Could fit at least 4 people altogether on there. Wooden floors, nice big windows with shutters and curtains, lamp side tables WITH OUTLETS (super convenient and takes the struggle out of searching for an outlet). Bathroom was nice and clean. I liked the style of bathroom, but there could have been more counter space on the sink area, there's no place to put your stuff (doesn't matter for guys, sucks for girls). Flat screen TV and air conditioning. Amenities: 1. Pool - don't be fooled by pictures though! To me it looked bigger than it actually was, it's pretty small. 2. Free Wifi - downfall though, doesn't work inside the bedroom... Only in the lobby and outside of the rooms. And you have to ask for the password (PW: 3052962211, you're welcome lol). 3. Free continental breakfast - served outside by the pool. Not a large selection, and same thing everyday. Cereal, activia yogurt, croissants, blueberry muffins (not that good), bagels, toast, apples, oranges, coffee, and juice. All the seating is also outside. 4. Deck on top if you're daring and want to sunbathe nude. 5. Free parking lot! 6. You can bring a pet, as long as it stays on the leash. Overall, it was a decent bed and breakfast kind if place, but for key west, what it offers, and the price you have to pay, not really worth it in my opinion. I've read a lot of other reviews on this place and it seems as if its a HIT OR MISS and I think that has to do with the room you end up with. They have a nice staff and they definitely make the place sound nice on paper, but when you get there, it's not worth the the amount they charge you.

Yelp
Quaint boutique hotel with rooms spread between historic Victorian buildings. All furnishings are ultra-modern and tasteful. Enjoyed a room with a porch for relaxing; the hotel also has three pools, plus hammocks and swing chairs. Attentive service, pretty standard continental breakfast. Enjoyed a relaxing stay and would definitely stay here again.

Candi K.

Yelp
The hotel has been through a 20 million dollar renovation. It's really pretty but some of it doesn't make sense There are no ice machines The table between the beds is so tiny 2 people can't put their things comfortably on it. There was no light switch entering the room have to turn bathroom light on The bike rack is a joke Can only put 5 bikes at max. They need more space. The breakfast room is a bit cramped. Somehow it needs to be spread out The food is good. Fruits juices eggs yogurt coffee tea. There is an amazing swing to hang out on with your buddy. Two pools very nicely decorated A nice upper deck with restrooms outside. We were supposed to stay at Albury Court but it's being renovated. They directed us here. It was quite a bit More money but is nice. Will probably stay back At Albury next time Mostly because of price and location

Clifford P.

Yelp
It's noisy and intolerable if you are staying next to this hotel. Loud late into the night and awakened every morning with loud talking at 6 am. Ugh!

Michelle B.

Yelp
A cozy and clean spot! Despite the busy season, the front desk treated us amazingly. Very informative and offered assistance with our stay. The room was clean and inviting. It was properly cleaned everyday and concierge was fantastic. Walking distance to everything yet quiet enough to rest.

Chad R.

Yelp
We stayed here for our honeymoon. In Dec. wow what a great choice. We could not have been happier. The staff was great and accommodating. They even had Champagne waiting on us when we checked in. Super clean and tropical. This will be our anniversary spot for sure. Thank you to the staff for making it such a wonderful stay.

Kevin J.

Yelp
Great location for someone wanting to be near Duval St. Not close to Malory Square though. Continental breakfast was good, bagels, muffins, cereal but nothing hot u less it's bread in toaster. Boiled eggs as well! Pool was nice, relaxing location nestled away. Expensive enough that parking should be free (not $20 a day) ESPECIALLY since they don't tell you this up front or online. Very nice room, had some small bugs in bathroom but believe were related to the weather.

Anna B.

Yelp
We stayed at the Chelsea House this past weekend for three nights. We stayed in room 19 and it was heavenly. The location was awesome, Lyeanna at the front desk was very polite and professional. She made us feel very comfortable. The breakfast at poolside was nice as eating out in Key West can be quite expensive. We will definitely be back and will request the same room. Our room was very quite, clean, and ac worked great. Anna & John Van Vulpen

Yelp
Great experience, staff was amazing and it made a world of difference. I am very glad we stayed here, mainly because it was close enough to Duval. We could walk everywhere and it is a convenient local. The breakfast staff manager was amazing and always responsive. She always made sure everyone had what they needed. Food area was always clean and organized. The pool, gardens and room were very clean. Overall excellent experience.

Sean H.

Yelp
The staff is friendly, the bed is comfy, but to my knowledge no one has complained about the poor air conditioning. This is partly due to the fact that this is an old building with no central air, but our room had an in-wall AC unit in the bathroom that made it fill like the Arctic...unless you had to sleep in the adjoining bedroom. This is the first time I've stayed in a hotel with this problem.

Deborah R.

Yelp
We were meeting our daughter & her family here but booked separately. When we checked in we told the concierge that we were meeting them, he put us in a room close to them & upgraded us without being asked. The room was a nice size & clean. There was plenty of parking for those that needed it (we did not). The only thing I would recommend would be a couple of umbrellas by the pool which gets direct sun nearly all day. It's a beautiful inn.

Didier W.

Yelp
I booked through booking.com We spent 2 nights here. The good: the beds were quite comfortable. The pool area is nice. The location is great. It's close to key west night life but not right in the heart of it which is good. The bad: the rooms shown are NOT the rooms you'll get. We thought we were the only ones this happened to but when we talked to more patrons it seems like this is their deal. They intentionally try to cheat you on the room and when you demand to be moved they show you 2 new rooms (of similar quality) to give you the impression of having a choice. Not only was the room tiny but EVERYTHING inside of it was tiny as well. Tiny shelves in the bathroom, no space between the bed and wall, the bathroom is not made for anyone taller than 5'10". If you have an option I would NOT stay here. They certainly will not be receiving my money again.

Niki H.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights for an anniversary trip to Key West (we were first time visitors to this city). The check-in was very smooth and Eddie was awesome at showing us the map and giving advice on how to navigate the island and must-see/things to do. We also met the daytime manager (cannot remember his name)...due to a mechanical issue with the key to our room and he was extremely apologetic and upgraded us to a king suite with no extra charge. We of course are very easy going people, so it did not bother us at all, but they bent over backwards to get us settled in asap. The issue(or non-issue) was resolved in a matter of minutes. The bed was very comfortable! There is also an adorable pool area and a continental breakfast each morning (coffee, muffins, hard booked eggs, yogurt, etc). This hotel was in an excellent location--on Truman, which is only a short 2 blocks from Duval St. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel to travelers visiting Key West!

Jason E.

Yelp
I think your experience at the Chelsea House depends on which room you get. We had room 4, a king-bed room, and I found the room to be lacking several key amenities that one would expect when paying $200 a night for a hotel. I know that's a reasonable price for Key West as I have paid more than double that for other hotels there. I also think you accept a certain level of risk when choosing a B&B. For me, room 4 didn't work, but I do like Chelsea House overall. So, room 4.There is no closet, there are no hangars, just three hooks mounted on the wall. We survived, but with some wrinkled clothes. The air conditioner is old and very loud, the water pressure in the bathroom is dismal; I could go on. One really gross part was the mold spores on the toilet paper roll holder. How can the housekeeping staff miss that? You look at it every time you replace the roll, and I noticed it the first time I looked at it. This alone is enough to warrant my two-star rating. There are good things, though, so maybe room 4 is just crap. The breakfast is great. The location is a nice quiet balance with the noise two blocks down the road on Duval, but overall I will look elsewhere when we return to Key West.

Yelp
Had a great experience from beginning to end. The lady who checked us in, Betsy, was super nice. It's located on Truman Ave just a very short walk to Duval St. It's just about at the midway point of Duval St. We stayed in the main building on the 2nd floor. No elevators here but fortunately, I was able to carry all our luggage up the stairs. Might not be so good for older folks, especially if staying on the 3rd floor. Our room had a shared balcony overlooking Truman Ave with 2 other rooms but it was still large enough that you weren't crowded. The rooms were not large but adequate, considering this is an old historic building. The bathroom was good with modern sinks and low-flo toilets. There was also a fridge and TV. The pool was nice and the breakfast is served right next to it. It consisted of cereals, bagels, and yogurt along with milk, juices, tea, and coffee. Some folks sit in the lounge chair to eat but they also have several covered tables. There is iced tea available all day by the pool. They have a sundeck on the 2nd level of the 2nd building which is clothing-optional. I went up there but there were no folks utilizing it. Some of the rooms overlook the sundeck so it's probably only for the most bold users. There are several parking lots on site which is nice. No street parking needed. Will very likely stay here again. The inn is close to famous Duval St and the crowds but the location is actually very quiet. Located by the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea. My pregnant wife and I walked just about every where since Key West is small and the inn's location was very central to where we went. The Conch Train tour is a couple of blocks away and a great way to see Key West.

Yelp
I wish I could say that I just LOVED this B & B but...well, I didn't. I LIKED it but love is just too strong of a word for me. The price was wonderful at about $160/night and the proximity to shops and museums on nearby Duval and Whitehead Streets is fantastic. The main building is adorable...Victorian, hardwood, quaint...and the pool is equally lovely. There's even a separate sundeck where clothing is "optional" if that's what you're into! lol Our room also had a private "veranda" which was nice...great view from the 3rd floor. Where the Chelsea House falls short is with the beds!! Apparently they just bought NEW beds but they must've spent like a hundred on each because honestly, I could've slept better on the floor! And I'm not the only one who hated it. I spoke with a woman over our continental breakfast out by the pool in the morning and she said she had the WORST night of sleep ever on the darn thing. She even complained...but to be honest...I don't think they care because new customers will continue to check in here based on price and location. The other sucky thing with the hotel is the layout...it's very Hansel and Gretel and fairy-tale-esque. lol We had to climb three flights of stairs to get to our little room...and they were all seemingly like that...doors sprinkled all about at different heights in the building. Cute but a pain in the ass dragging luggage...can't imagine what it would be like for an elderly person...not friendly to aging folk at all! lol I stuck my head into the "Lighthouse Inn" which across from the Hemingway House...it was another we looked into at about $139 a night. It looked pretty good but I can't vouch for the beds. I'd definitely check that place out next time or spring for a more expensive room somewhere else.

Yelp
I have never been big on the B&Bs, but my wife insisted that she thought we should try Chelsea House. It's pet friendly, which is something we're always looking for (since we usually travel around with our dog). Our room was on the first floor facing Truman Ave (literally - when you walk out the door of the room, you are standing on the porch on the street). I was a little worried that being that close to the street would mean excessive noise throughout the night and poor sleep, but that wasn't the case. The pool area was very nice, but we didn't spend too much time there. The best thing about this hotel was the location - just far enough from the craziness of Duval Street so the area remains somewhat quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Friendly front desk staff. Room was not huge, but clean and well set up. Breakfast was ok - cold items and muffins/bagels. Quiet from both street noise and in the hotel. Safe was a little quirky, but still worked. Great price for location. Quick walk to Duval Street.

Cory H.

Yelp
Stayed here with my wife on 4/19/11. This is a bit different than your typical B&B but was still a great experience. There are 3 houses on this property. Private parking lot was a plus. Front desk service was very hospitable. Great location to the sites of Key West. Within 15 minutes walking distance of Duvall St. restaurants/shops, the southernmost point, beach, Hemingway's House, Lighthouse, and other great sites. My suggestion for room choice, is to call the location, and ask about each specific size/level before deciding what you want to stay in. Our room was an add-on that looked like it probably used to be part of the porch area of the original house. No complaints, just not quite what I was expecting from my perception of what I would get at a B&B. But the room was still nice, and the flat screen tv was a nice perk I wasn't expecting. Beautiful bathroom. We stayed in Room # 21, it had a private entrance from the porch area that was within 20 steps of the pool area, so we were able to get wireless internet in the room. My recommendation though is to get a room on the 2nd floor of either of the 2 main buildings. They seem like they would be the most private, and that is my biggest concern for a B&B. Sidenote: We did not partake, but the map of the "compound" stated that the 2nd floor sunbathing deck on the 2nd building (overlooking the pool) is a clothing optional area. Breakfast was nothing special, but free is free. the basics: cereal, fruit, single yogurt cups, toast, bagels, english muffins, coffee, juice, milk. Better than going to Denny's down the street. All in all, I was very happy with our stay, would definitely stay here again if I were to ever visit Key West again.

D M.

Yelp
What a beautiful place to stay. We were down in Key West for my cousins wedding this past weekend and enjoyed the accommodations. When we checked in Jeff was so patient and helpful :) The rooms are clean and efficient and the Staff friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Frank R.

Yelp
We wanted a place to stay near Duval Street but far enough away from the madness. This location is excellent in that regards - even though it is on Highway 1 - very quiet and peaceful. We booked months in advance since it was New Year's and rooms are tight - and more expensive. They did not require the 7 night minimum I found at other inns. Is it a B&B or a small hotel??? Well, I think more of a small hotel spread across a couple older homes with new units added at a later time. Many mention flat screen tv's - not in room 1. Rooms vary and this has affected many people's reviews. Ours was room 1 just at the reception area. Large and pleasant. The Ritz, no.... but then that isn't what we were expecting. Staff was friendly and Andy, the manager, was always helpful with suggestions and assistance in booking our jet ski adventure. Breakfast is basic continental. Pool area has limited seating, but was fine for our needs. Overall, we'd return, but I'd inquire the specifics of the room to make sure it would suit our needs.

Yelp
This is the sister house to the Key Lime Inn. We had to stay here the 2nd night cause KL was booked. The rooms were MUCH smaller. So small in fact, that when you opened the door, it hit the bed! Ah!! Also, the bathroom has zero ventilation, and the tub is pretty old and gnarly looking. It did have a nice balcony though, and the pool was a nice place to nap, aside from the screaming children that showed up. (ugh, WHY do they always show up during nap time?) The staff was really friendly, and we were just grateful to have a place to sleep that night. It was a bit over priced for the condition of the room, so Ill probably stay at the Key Lime next time.

Yelp
Great location but room needed help. The bathroom was a disaster for a normal size person to get ready. Very tight quarters. TV couldn't be seen from bed. Charming otherwise. Guys you should server real jelly at breakfast not the fake cheap kind!

Yelp
Great location. Really friendly staff and the cleanest hotel I've ever been in! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
miserable hard beds, like sleeping on the box spring with no mattress. period house in nice condition, interior has a missed opportunity for period furnishings. room 11 is noisy behind the office. very expensive for what you get charge $10, for parking, not free as other reviews say. and one reviewer said $160, per night, try double that.

Yelp
We hit some traffic causing us to arrive later than expected. We called reception and they were more than accommodating. We were told to be safe and not to rush. The attendant, I believe his name was Humberto, stayed after his shift to welcome us with the best attitude. The room had large windows and high ceilings. The windows let so much light in we didn't have to switch the lights. But for the mornings we wanted to sleep in, the thick curtains were perfect to keep the room pitch dark. The room had a private bathroom, a TV, a safe, a closet, (more than enough) plugs, a hair dryer and a mini-fridge with two wine glasses. Our room had a semi-private terrace; shared with another room that was empty half of our stay. The terrace was quite roomy; it fit a table for four and two lounge chairs. It was perfect for a private breakfast or to tan while enjoying a drink. We wanted to sleep late, so we closed the curtains and placed the do not disturb sign. The staff was nice enough to still leave a new set of towels at our door. The hotel served a continental breakfast by the pool; the breakfast included croissants, muffins, bagels, toast, cream cheese, peanut butter, butter, jelly, fruit, boiled eggs, cereals, yogurt, milk, juices, coffee and tea. We later returned to the pool; the water was the perfect temperature. The room came with free parking, which is not easy to find in Key West. The parking lot had plenty of spaces most of them shaded. This hotel is within walking distance to everything. The location is perfect! But I still recommend renting a scooter. The Moped Hospital is only a block away and they have really cool electric scooters. We were able to park it at the hotel as well free of charge. They also had plenty of bike spots. On our last day, we left and forgot to return the key to the front desk. Once again, we were calmed by the friendliest staff that accepted our late check out with a smile and no hidden fees. I would most definitely stay here again. I've travelled to Key West quite a few times, but the best rooms have always been from the Historic Key West Inns.

Yelp
Stayed in Room 6. Pros: good location, free parking, historic building, friendly staff, pool, free breakfast, decent sized room, limited free wifi, high ceiling in room, fridge in room, quiet Cons: shower only, no tub, no closet, no hangers, windows do not open, they are screwed shut

Yelp
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. There are a few houses as part of this complex, all with different rooms, so I imagine the exact room would make a difference. We stayed in the Forester Room - King Bed. It was a nice size room with lovely furnishings. The room was clean and the linens were of quality. We had a balcony off the room which was also connected to the room next door. Thankfully no one was in the other room during our stay. Otherwise, they would be standing at our windows while on the balcony. Overall it was relatively quiet and private which is a very nice thing from a b&b. The breakfast by the pool is a lovely setting. The breakfast itself was nothing special. The location is good, not great. But I suppose it all depends on where you want to go. If you walk the block to Duval, you'll pay about $20 for a pedicab to get you to Sloppy Joe's. It is certainly a walkable distance, but by the 3rd day, our feet were aching.

Yelp
BFF and I stayed 4 nights (6/1-6/4/19) and it was perfect for us. The room was small but had a queen bed, 2 nightstands, a fridge, and a small bench. It was all we needed since the only time we spend in our room is to change clothes or sleep. I loved the location of the hotel as it was close enough to easily get to all the 'action' but in the midst of it. A block away is a place to rent bicycles, scooters, or golf carts. Our room had a nice little shared deck area (with 1 other room) as we were on the 1st floor. The pool area was right out back with lounge chairs, and shade or no shade. There's also a nice sitting area near the pool and a 2nd floor sun-deck (with a small restroom). We spent some time around the pool and a lot of time running all around town (bicycle and golf cart). The front desk staff was very friendly and able to answer all our questions. They also held our luggage on our last day because checkout is 11AM but our flight wasn't leaving until 5PM. We both agreed we would definitely consider staying at Chelsea house again if we return to Key West. It's a good value.

Yelp
Location location location. If you don't want to drive around Key West, in other words, if you want to stumble home in Key West, this place is perfect. Its really near Duvel Street, where all the shops and bars are located, and also near Better Than Sex (amazing lounge). We stayed in a room on the first floor. The room was so small, just big enough to fit a bed, and a small set of drawers. There is no closet. There is also a small TV. Outside our room, we could see a small swimming pool, that we didn't even swim in. The bathroom was small too. (I have used small way too many times). If you already live inside a small closet in Manhattan, the small space would be ok. If you live a in a huge palace, go for one of the bigger rooms. There is free breakfast provided. Its nothing fancy. Boiled eggs, cereal, bagels and coffee. I wanted to eat breakfast at different restaurants since I'm a foodie, so I didn't' really care for the free breakfast. There is parking in the hotel, but you have to pay. Alternatively, you can park on the street for free.

Yelp
Very nice hotel. Extremely friendly front office staff. They do care about their guests here and are willing to talk with you and give you coupons to local places within walking distance. However this hotel has a downside and that would be the size. These rooms are very small and you will not be able to fit a lot of baggage into them. But overall I recommend this hotel to people and would stay here again!

Yelp
This was a nice small hotel with pretty much everything you need- pool, free breakfast, AC, nice front staff. Room and bathroom were clean and modern. Sink was outside the bathroom in our particular room but that didn't matter much. It was actually nice to have to sink accessible. As some people mentioned there is no closet or hangers for clothes but really you're not bringing fancy ball gowns to key west. It's a beach town, relax. There is no iron which I guess good bother people but again, I wore bathing suits and cover ups the whole time. Location is great, walking distance to everything. The ONLY con I would say was our room placement. Whatever you do don't get room 18. It's the first picture in the album here, with the rocking chairs right outside. It's right on the front porch and on a busy street do we heard trucks, cars and mopeds all night long. Not to mention the people hanging ont he rocking chairs chatting and drinking until 2am. We finally had to go out and say something. It's all part of the hotel but just have some curtesy. If we had a room that was more interior or upstairs this wouldn't have been an issue.

Yelp
Nice, comfortable room. A little funky carpet smell and the breakfast is very basic but nice location and lovely pool. PS Activia yogurt is gross!

Yelp
Had a great stay here. The rooms are not huge but it was perfect for 2 nights. 2 blocks from Duval St which is good because those hotels on that street will be very loud. They also have a small private pool which was nice. Cant go wrong with this place

Yelp
First, let me say that the pool area is lovely, and the staff were super nice. Breakfast was healthy. it consisted of activia yogurt, packaged cereals and apples. Also a good location. close enough to walk to attractions, but not crazy loud. OK, now the down side. When we arrived, our room had not been cleaned very well. Hair in the tub. Rust, corroded tub drain, peeling paint on bathroom wall, rotting window frames (room 30). There was mold growing on the ceiling and it smelled damp and musty. Not what we were expecting based on website. Went and talked to the management to see if we could be moved to another room, but they were booked. We are here for New Year's week, so nothing available. Had to prepay for week, so we are out of luck. They got someone to come in with a bleach solution and clean up the mold. Smells much better. Advice: Bure when you make your reservation to ask for a room that has been updated. Traveling with family members who had an updated room (room 31). New bath and they are very pleased! They have wi-fi, but it doesn't work in our room. We were advised to sit by the pool, where the signal is better.

Yelp
Excellent location within walking distance of downtown Key West. The owners are extremely friendly, and the place is immaculate: a number of homes, mostly enlarged and furnished with handsome furniture, clustered around a pool and deck where one can breakfast in real peace. Chelsea House is on Truman Street just as you enter Key West.

Yelp
Called to ask to cancel our reservation due to an impending tropical storm. I was told that I couldn't cancel. They did say they would hold my deposit. I'm thoroughly disgusted that they won't allow you to cancel due to a storm. I'd understand if it was just calling for rain. Also told them my transportation was by boat and they probably wouldn't go in a storm. The gal I spoke to said if the weather is bad "They" meaning the boating company won't go. But suggested I could drive or fly!!! Thanks. I don't won't to fly, boat or drive if there is a tropical storm!

Yelp
..I highly recommend this B&B!! The room was clean and cute, they allowed the dog as long as you tell them ahead of time so they can put you in one of their pet rooms...which was ground floor (so you can take him out whenever you need to without having to go up and down 2 flights of stairs!) and didnt share a wall with any other rooms so if he barked he didnt bother anyone! The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Its walking distance to Duval (we parked the car when we checked in and didnt have to move it until we checked out. We could walk everywhere from here, yet it wasnt SO close that we had to deal with drunk noise all night). And its reasonably priced! Will definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This place is expensive for what you get. Staff is courteous. But the facilities themselves need work. The pool and pool area are very, very small. Astro turf in the pool. Pool seating are very uncomfortable. Astro turf yikes gets hot. No place to really chill and relax. The balcony was so small and access was very awkward. They charge for parking. Stairs are narrow and slippery. Because they cut up this house to jam as many hotels rooms as possible on site you hear your neighbors coming and going, door slamming, yelling etc. won't be going back. The pictures are of the suite which they want a lot of money for trust me your room will look nothing like that!

Mike R.

Yelp
We stayed in a Junior king Suite and it was perfect. Great private porch, very peaceful. Nice pool. Never tried the breakfast so can't comment on that. Will definitely stay again!

Yelp
The rooms are very meager for the price. Yes, the location is good, but the bathroom was the worst I've ever experienced in a so-called "Inn". There wasn't even a counter to put your toothbrush. Even the toilet paper was the thinnest you could buy. Air conditioner was loud. The manager on duty told us he had "upgraded" us to a King room from the Queen we had booked. Beware of gifts from strangers! We were in Room 4, second floor of the first building. No closet, so wrinkled clothes are the norm. Flat and uncomfortable pillows came with the room. Don't bother. Wish we had checked Yelp before we went.

Yelp
Overall a great experience. Office staff was very informative and helpful. Great bed with lots of soft pillows. Bathroom was spacious and nicely updated - huge shower. Walking distance to everything. Highly recommend. Will definitely go back!!!
