Update: Why did you close down??? Im finally in Portland again. I absolutely enjoyed the food. Got a whole Roast Duck, bokchoy in garlic, ginger sauce, Chinese broccoli in Oyster Sauce, vegetable fried rice, and Duck, noodle soup. They actually give you the whole duck at this establishment. I recommend this restaurant.

Google
friendly service with a nice amount of indoor seating! food came with oolong tea, which was perfect. general tso chicken was pretty good, more on the sweet side although it was slightly spicy too house special pan-fried noodles: decent noodles here; they were properly crispy and crunchy and the brown sauce was tasty. the bbq pork was more flavorful than what you would find at other places! otherwise, fairly standard and delicious egg flower soup: it was OK. overall, a great place to get some pan-fried noodles and other yummy dishes

Google
Authentic and flavorful. We came on Thanksgiving night and was thankful that this place was open. I like the wonton soup because it has the exact same flavor as I had it in Hong Kong. The 脆皮烧猪 turned cold a little so I hope they can improve on that.

Google
The food was *amazing* and we didn't realize that they were not open for dining. They allowed us to order there, and we waited outside in the cafe area. The food was so tasty hot and immediately when we got it. It was also great later (and a lot of chinese food is not!) Great sesame chicken and beef chow mein. Egg drop soup, spring rolls, and rice all excellent.

Google
Love this place, an old Portland Gem! One of the best Wonton Soups 🍲. Great BBQ pork and whole Peking duck made in house daily. Let’s keep this place open!

Google
I guess it is an okay place to eat at Old Chinatown, but the place is somewhat dirty in my opinion and found a hair in my food. The food was just okay. Their chinese BBQ was decent, prices were fairly competitive with others around it. Definitely not my main choice for Chinese food unless I have no option and only in that area.

Google
The food was AMAZING! The menu is extensive, the hospitality warm and welcoming. Wish I had a restaurant like this near me, but I can only dream of one while outside of Portland.

Google
I wasn’t in the mood for the bowl that everyone seems to like so much so I went for the curry chicken, something I’ve been missing from the local Chinese place I grew up near. It was acceptable, but far from what I was hoping for. Staff was very friendly and other patrons mostly ordered one of the bowls, so I’d recommend listening to others and go with that. (It’s pork and duck so be aware)

Yelp
I love this place and have for years! This place is so unassuming, but delicious!!! whether it's their wonton soup, barbecue, pork, or bok choy it's all delicious. They aren't crazy expensive and they always have a smile. My only sadness is on Monday when their closed and I'm craving those soft pillows of wonton magic. Did I mention the sweet lady who's always sitting there hand crafting the wontons? Each and everyone is made in house with love

Yelp
Needed in Old Town! Super Bowl A is classic. Renovation skipped the crime crisis. Give them new business: BEST CHINESE BARBQ PORTLAND

Yelp
Good taste. Good eats. Good times. Happy Belly! Ordered way too much because it all looks so good. Come with a big group so you can try lots of things. We had the Super Bowl A, which is easily enough for two if that's all you order. But don't stop there, because the duck with special sauce is killer. The BBQ pork is also a win, have in in one of the soups or on its own. Oh, and the handmade wontons!!! When we were there we saw the owner making them. They are so fresh and have lovely pieces of shrimp inside with the pork. No Costco here. When you're in China town be sure to stop in.

Yelp
I never would have stumbled into this hole in the wall Chinese restaurant if my other plans didn't fall through. Before ordering I looked on line at reviews since I was curious and they were rated pretty well! I ended up ordering ahead the next time I was craving Chinese food and wow they did not disappoint. Solid price point, served quickly and even before the eta they gave us, and good eats. The pork belly with rice, fish and veggies, wonton noodle soup, and beef chow fun are good options to try. Good portion sizes to share and the homemade won tons in the soup were the best!

Yelp
I'm so happy this place opened for dine in again. I have come here many times during the pandemic, picked up to-go orders, and ate in my car. The food is fantastic and the price is unbeatable. Roast duck is very flavorful and the wonton has a good balance of meat/shrimp/wrapper. For $14, I got 10 wontons, several duck pieces, and two pieces of bok Choy. Service was fast and very friendly. My only complaint is that area of town has become quite run down and it scares me a little to be parking and walking around there. But this is definitely not their fault.

Yelp
If ya wanna taste that's good..... well good taste won't be bad. Pretty weird little spot. The staff is cool.

Yelp
2.5 stars, rounded up for price. I had a craving for roast duck, bbq pork, and sweet & sour chicken after returning from Peru where they mastered these dishes. I consider Portland to be one of the top food cities, so I thought Good Taste would satisfy my craving. Unfortunately they didn't come close. We ordered the sweet & sour chicken and a trio of roast duck, roast pork, and bbq pork. The sweet & sour chicken was average. The bbq pork was probably my favorite although it could have been more tender. The roast duck was okay, but had a lot of bones. The roast pork was terrible. Extremely dry with a weird gray color. There are better Chinese options in Portland. Kung Pow and Duck House to name a couple.

Yelp
A lot has changed since Covid, but this place still got it. The taste, service, and place is still around. I called in to place a to-go order for two bowls of dumplings and one bowl of wonton dumplings +noodles, total $24.40 and it was ready in 15 minutes. There are a few changes though: to-go only, closed Mondays, and prices has steadily increased (as with everything, but still under $10 for a hot meal). They also have other food options, but I usually just order the wonton noodles and on occasions, order the roasted pig. Flavor is always on-point from here, so I rarely have to worry about disappointment. Street parking only. They accept cards and cash.

Yelp
Still open right now, at least for takeout! I haven't tried their other menu items but they've got great chinese BBQ/roasted meats, and delicious noodle soups. If you like Kenny's noodle house, you'll probably like Good Taste too! It's got a little bit less of the more tradition/unique offerings but nonetheless delicious. Also good prices for the portion size. I got the super bowl A with duck, crispy pork, and bbq pork - of course it also comes with noodles and wontons. Everything in it was delish! (Yes I did finish it, no I'm not proud - ok maybe a little. But honestly I couldn't eat for the rest of the day so maybe split it or save some for leftovers!)

Yelp
Good taste indeed. The BBQ stand in the front was a welcoming sight to see after touring the west coast and Highway 101. The roast duck was the perfect pick me up and reminded me of home back in NYC. Minus points for the sketchy homeless person who was camping the stairs outside =/

Yelp
My experience today in regards to the food was very mediocre at best. I remember eating at Good Taste in years past and the soup alongside roasted Chinese BBQ were one of the highlights in the Portland area. They're take-out only in the era of the Delta variant. I had watched a YouTube video about a roasted BBQ master the night prior and had my eyes set on getting some for lunch. Maybe I came in with too high of expectations but the portions were a little lacking and the pork smell was way too strong to think it was fresh at all. I'll definitely give Good Taste a try again, maybe just not if I'm looking to get my roasted Chinese BBQ fix.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has delicious Chinese food at affordable prices. We got takeout this past weekend to take to a friends house and they loved it! The duck was meaty and fresh, the chicken with ginger sauce was super tasty- even the black bean noodles were tdf! Every dish we got was so good. Will definitely be back the next time we're in Portland!

Yelp
So I'm here in Portland, from San Jose, California, on sort of a foodie vacation. I tried a bunch of the best rated and hipsterest places to eat and I can't believe that this old school azz Chinese restaurant would be sooo good!! I have to admit, I was craving wontons. And my expectations were low (based on outside looks of the place) but I shouldn't have judged. The portion was so generous. And holy cow the won tons were easily the best I've ever had. Believe me when I say I was raised on Asian cuisine (because I'm Taiwanese lol) and have tasted won tons everywhere. If you've been eating Portlands most famous goodies all week long and just need a lil home cooking.. or if you just wanna try a super legit wontons noodle soup.. pull up!!

Yelp
My hubby and I stayed in downtown Portland and at the end of our trip, we were craving some good old comfort food. We came upon this place since we were close by. We ordered their roast duck and crispy noodles and it was super delicious. Overall, very homey and yummy Cantonese style food :)

Yelp
Fantastic wonton soup. Best I have ever had. Big delicious wontons with pork and shrimp. Large bowl for $7.95. Noodles, broth and vegetable included. Hint...let broth which is served in separate container meld with the other items for a few minutes. For some reason Yelp shows they are closed. They are open every day except Mondays for take out only. Items were ready in 15 minutes as promised. I also got a order of bbq pork and white rice as recommended by other on Yelp. Delicious with s huge portion of rice and generous amount of pork. Very reasonable prices and large portions. Yum!!!

Yelp
Been back several times since now working nearby and Good Taste is consistently one of my favorite places to eat downtown and thee best wonton noodle soup in Portland. I had to add a photo that I snapped showing they sell whole pig (sold by the weight of the pig); looked and smelled amazing. I'll say it again, you cannot go wrong with (in no certain order): Crispy Pork Belly, BBQ Pork Pan Fried Noodles w/Gravy, Wonton Noodle Soup, BBQ Pork Chow Fun, Roasted Duck, BBQ Pork.

Yelp
When you're watching a sitcom and they're ordering from a local Chinese place this is the kind of place that comes to mind. On a recent visit we had wonton bbq pork egg noodle soup and it was great! The portion was pretty large and it was the perfect comfort dish for weather. We also had the calamari - it had the perfect amount of crunch, and salt -- our favorite was the tentacles which were extra crispy. And finally beef pan fried noodles - also a big portion - the mix of textures was perfect!
google avatar

Yelp
With the development occurring in old Chinatown, many businesses are closing shop. I hope there's always a place for this noodle shop. Most dishes are still under $12, with many of the noodle soups under $9, a fantastic filling value. We tried the Singapore rice noodle........large plate of rice noodle with egg, shrimp, and bbq pork. The curry seasoning and the spice level could be ramped up a notch but still tasty. The old standby of beef stew and wonton noodles warms the cockles (whatever a cockle is!) and is consistently satisfying. This Good Taste location is still the best (flavor and value) of all the Chinese restaurants called good taste.

Yelp
You know, it's pretty good! Is it the best Chinese food? No. Will I eat there again, heck ya! I was pleasantly surprised. The previous reviewers weren't kidding when they said it's a hole in the wall but inside is clean and pleasant. The waitress is super efficient. How many, grab a seat, here's your menu. That's totally fine with me and I actually prefer it. The efficient service was helpful as I had gone their during work lunch. I had the barbecue pork wonton noodle soup. It has thin chewy noodles, pretty tasty but a little tough char sui pork, wontons and a piece of baby bok choy all for $8.95. I looked around and I think wonton noodle soup is a favorite. The clients ran the gamut from office workers, Chinese tourists and the table next to me, I wanted to join their party of older gentlemen meeting up for a lunch date. The soup was not as clear and refreshing as I liked it so just added some red vinegar. Ask for chili oil to spice up your soup. In the end, it was a really decent fast noodle soup and I know where to go now when I have a hankering! Good Taste, good job!

Yelp
This place was very close to Lan Su Chinese garden. It is located in historic Chinatown, around the corner from Voodoo donuts. We arrived around 1230 and the place was packed from the lunch crowd. It is a typical Hong Kong style Cantonese BBQ place. We ordered the plain congee which was good but lacked flavor. We had the two meat combo over rice. We chose cha shu and roast pork. The roast pork went well with hot Chinese mustard and the bbq pork was tasty. Three and a half stars.

Yelp
Awesomeness. Great roasted duck and flavorful char Sui. Some of the best Chinese food in old Town
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite in town. Huge portions. The big bowl of wontons, pork and duck is the best.

Yelp
Chow Mein was inedible w/overdone noodles, and overdone vegetables; the dry sautéed string beans had no flavor; they don't include sauces as is customary at quite literally every other Chinese food restaurant when ordering BBQ pork. TLDR: No flavor, poor quality, save your money

Yelp
For a hearty lunch, a steaming bowl of wonton noodle soup hits the spot. Staying in a nearby hotel, we walked through the Chinatown gate looking for just that. Good Taste delivers on their name, with rich broth and tasty roasted meats. Some steamy soup was the perfect antidote for a cold, rainy Fall day. When you walk in, you see the roast pig, strips of sweet red roasted pork & glistening roast ducks hanging in the front. The simple furnishings reflect its simple home-cooked Chinese food. And they speak my native dialect of Toisan! The menu is typical Cantonese fare with quick one bowl/dishes or you can order multi-course meals. There are 2-4 person dinner meals listed on the dry-erase boards with soup & entrees for about $30-$50 or you can order a la carte. As we were getting a quick lunch, we went for single dishes of wonton noodle soups with combinations of meat toppings, like pork & duck. The roasted pork (char siu) looked really good, so we got a separate dish of that. Wow, those wontons are HuGe! They're like ping pong balls and you get 6 of them along with any meats you want. I got roast duck and they were some big chunks of breast meat. The broth was very flavorful and you can taste the pork bones that were simmering in it for hours. My wife got the Super Bowl B, which was wonton noodles with beef tripe and tendon, her favorite. I knew she couldn't finish it, so I was glad to help out. My son got the roast pork and egg over rice and he quickly polished that off and was looking at his mother's bowl next. Also ordered the youtiao or fried breadstick, which usually goes well with congee. It was freshly made and extremely crispy. If we ever make it back to Portland again, I want to try the Super Bowl A, which has Roasted Pork, Duck & whole Pig in an XL bowl of wontons & noodles, YUM!

Yelp
It's been a long time since I've had something other than roasted duck from this place. I came here for lunch and ordered what was listed as a dinner special on the board. The owner was definitely willing to let us order a dinner special for lunch. For the dinner special we ordered it for two people. It came with a big container of crab and corn soup, gai lan (Chinese broccoli), salt and pepper prawns, bbq pork and roasted duck, with rice for $32. Add $2 for to go. Right now they are only doing take out. For $17 the amount of food was very generous. The shrimp were very plump and big. The bbq pork was flavorful and not dry. The gai lan is a classic where it's steamed and topped with oyster sauce. The roasted duck was fatty, flavorful with tasty duck skin. The duck meat was very moist and juicy. We ended up with leftovers from this meal, definitely hard to find a deal like this. Highly recommend!

Yelp
On this hot day, we were in the mood for Chinese. Being of Chinese descent, we tried to look for something that was authentic and not Americanized since it's not the same (nothing against general Tso's but he doesn't exist!). We found this place, and got seated; it helped having a sibling who spoke Chinese; the ordering went smoothly and the server was extremely pleasant. The beauty of this place is they cook actual Chinese food. Not that fake American-Chinese cuisine people think is Chinese food. And it's delicious and as authentic as being in Asia. And price-wise so affordable. We split the combo chow fan, good taste meats pick 2 (pork and duck), order of dumplings, and a side of spring rolls: enough to feed three between the two of us for only $31. I almost thought the bill was incorrect but my sister looked over it (it was written in Chinese; someday I'll learn the writings) and it was legit. Probably one of my favorite meals in Portland! Outside & inside, the restaurant doesn't look like much; don't let that deter you from dining here. They cook excellent food that will show you what true Chinese culinary arts is all about! They also serve noodle bowls and have meats on display (pork, duck, BBQ ribs) as you walk in. Might as well order those because you'll want them in your mouth! PF Changs, Panda Express, visit this place and take notes; perhaps someday you'll stop being fake and become authentic!

Yelp
Support the only Hong Kong/ Cantonese BBQ Meats left in Portland. Family run. Every time we have a family gathering, holiday etc. We always get the roasted duck and the roasted pork. The Vietnamese eat it with woven vermicelli noodles and nuoc mam. You can also eat it in a salad roll!
google avatar

Shauna F.

Yelp
Great food! Great prices, great service, free WiFi, and they bag the leftovers for you. I will definitely be back

Yelp
Solid authentic Chinese restaurant. This place is a staple in Portland. The roasted pork is excellent. Also, check out the wide variety of wonton soups.

Adrienne G.

Yelp
I am thrilled finally finding Roast Duck-- cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced, I ordered the whole duck. The Rice with Vegetables was amazing-- huge fresh steamed vegetables on top of perfect white rice. Of course, I got Spring Egg Rolls-- crispy and delicious, I practically breathed them in, and omg the Crispy Wings appetizer was glorious! I've ordered from this gem 3 times in 2 weeks. Also the Pork Ribs are awesome too. You're looking for perfectly cooked, delicious food, here it is: I love this place. Delivery is super fast, too! dreamy experience
google avatar

Disgusted C.

Yelp
Never thought I would say this, the portion is too much! lol. It was! We got the duck and dumpling noodle soup, the roast pork and dumpling noodle soup, and the big one ( duck, wonton, char siu, and roast pork noodle soup), this one was a massive size, should feed 2 people. The soup and meat were tasty. Need to remember next time to separate the meat from the soup as they would taste more better than in the broth.

Yelp
I am not an authority on Chinese food and I'm not going to pretend to be. What I know of authenticity has been read in books. Now, Vietnamese food, we could talk all day. I do know just as in every culture, especially Chinese, the food varies from region to region. What is authentic? Authentic or not, Good Taste was high on the list of places to try. The novelty of tender, crispy, faty, salty bright red birds hanging in the window is hard to pass up and I believe Good Taste knows that. They're smart. It sells and I love duck, the delicious birds that they are. The duck. I cannot give any opinion on it other than it was salty. My bowl of wontons with duck came in with all bones and skin. I was a little sad after looking at the pictures. I wanted to try a few bites of meat. One of my companions did however get some meaty pieces. Jealous? I was. I liked the broth until the flavor of the noodles hit me. The size of glass noodles but wheat instead, they did not taste good to me. There was a flavor, almost plastic like present. I'm not sure if they are meant to taste that way or not. Arguably, none of my companions cared for them. The wontons were well formed and consistent. Again, not for me though I typically love soup wontons. Maybe I am just spoiled? More likely, I just don't know if it's authentic and I want to be honest about not caring for them. I owe you that much. Now the bright, beautiful green bok choy floating in the soup was fresh and delicious! It took up the light chicken broth like a dream. The staff was working very hard during the lunch rush. Their work ethic did not go unnoticed. Food took a while. It was busy. We understand. No problem. Prices were okay $9.00-$15.00. Portions are extremely large. Even single servings feel like family style. I know that's America speaking, not China. Don't write Good Taste off. You should try it. Authenticity or not it's all about food. You may fall in love, you may not but you will have been there and done that.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Ordered the lunch special for 11.95 which was the won ton egg noodle soup with roasted duck, char siu, and pork. For the price of getting a big bowl of wonton soup was reasonable. There was a good portion amount of roasted duck which was really tender and soft. The duck pulled off easily from the bone. The char siu was flavorful and not chewy. Didn't care much for the pork. The wontons were wrapped in shrimp and were not soggy or slimy. They were perfect and probably the best ones I've had in Portland. Highly suggested! The wait took about 15 mins. Overall, not bad for an inexpensive eat for Chinese food.

Yelp
I am so glad we found this place near Saturday Market. The wanton soup with roast duck was crazy delicious and the server was so charming we were crushing big time!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Besides ordering our regular dishes we ordered the Singapore Fried Rice. It was good with good curry flavor but I think it could be spicier. In fact I didn't think it was spicy at all. If I were to order it again, I will have to make sure they make it spicy.
google avatar

Jenelle B.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic Chinese food. You know it's real when there is duck and BBQ pork hanging in the restaurant. Uhm yummmm! I appreciate a good restaurant with great food. Old school furniture, asian plates/bowls. Love love! Congee is soo good and cheap here $5-6.50 ish for a good size bowl you can share. Combination plates are also bomb. Ordered their half bbq pork and duck plate with bok choy. You can't go wrong with any of the dishes here. Great cheap asian food. Winner winner. I would and will come here again and again. Key, don't use a bathroom at an old restaurant but everyone should know that. Lol
google avatar

Yelp
Roast duck is so so. I go there thinking they have the roast pork that no one has in Vancouver well they gave up on offering that don't do the pig anymore so good for the piggies. Won't be going back anytime soon.
google avatar

Yelp
Coming in on a Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving day, we were already thankful that some things were opened. The service was alright and the food was authentic Asian food. Personally, I think people exaggerated the size of the portions. I thought it was quite standard, maybe a teeny bit bigger. Food ordered: Super bowl A- This was what made this place famous for its large portion size. The bowl was big, but the portions weren't particularly THAT big. Definitely more than enough for 1 person, but not filling enough for 2. Wontons made this a tasty bowl though. BBQ Pork- I really liked this. It was flavorful and rich. I only wish it came out warm. Mixed vegetables- Standard. Portion size wasn't that big. Sam Pan Congee- Quite bland. It's good if you're feeling sick and want something warm but the flavors are not that strong. Since it's thanksgiving weekend, can't expect much. But if you're coming any other time, go elsewhere BUT come here for some take-out BBQ pork just because!
google avatar

Sofi L.

Yelp
This is my second time here and both times I have been wanting more! I'm so glad they are opened during quarantine (call ahead, it's take out only!). I really hope they make it through the pandemic because this is solid chinese bbq and their wonton noodles are delicious! You know it's authentic when they speak Cantonese! But don't worry, they speak English just fine. =) I've gotten the bbq pork twice and will always order this whenever I'm here. This is real bbq pork, not that red dyed pork stuff from Zupans. I also got the wonton noodles for the first time and the wontons were unexpectedly really good! I usually don't like wontons but I really wanted hot noodle soup for the rainy day and I'm glad I ordered them! I love that the broth isn't really salty/flavorful as that's how I think the broth should be. It shouldn't overpower the wontons, it's supposed to compliment the wontons! Please support small family owned businesses if you can! I know I will be coming back to good taste for their bbq!
google avatar

Uma K.

Yelp
Pathetic food! We ordered a whole lot of items as we love chinses food and we read rave reviews about this place. It would be an under statement to say that we were disappointed. We have never had such an horrible food experience. Things that we threw away as we care about our heart and arteries - Beef shirt ribs Half roast duck Chinese donut Beef chow fun had more oil in it than noodles or beef! We also ordered wonton soup and congee which were the only edible dishes Please note that we salvaged the congee by adding a whole lot of soy sauce and other Chinese sauces at home
google avatar

Mikhail H.

Yelp
I am happy I was finally able to give this place a go. If you want a fast, cheap and tasty meal this is your spot. From what I ate you might be better with the more American style dishes - the authentic stuff seemed to be lacking. The crab puffs were actually pretty delicious with excellent plum sauce. We tried a meat plate with BBQ pork, roast pork and also the roast duck. The roasted pork was the best part but the BBQ pork was super dry and overcooked. I had the cashew chicken which was rather good. My friend had one of their noodle and dumpling bowls - the dumplings were quite good but the tripe was super chewy without a lot of flavor.

Yelp
I haven't been back here in a while and made an delivery order today. I ordered wonton noodle soup which is a standard there. It was one of the worse. The broth was so cloudy, basically old. The chow fun beef noodle was just awful. Basically just boiled noodle with gravy poured over. Mapo tofu wasn't spicy at all. Basically the only thing that was decent was the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. On top of that, it took over an hour to deliver what is less than 5 min drive. My stomach hurts after eating. We won't be eating here again.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
This place is a classic for me. I remember taking the bus (when there was fareless square) from PSU down here for study breaks with some friends. They made some changes...taking credit cards now...and of course raising the price to keep up with the times. The one thing that is still the same is the food. Since I was pretty hungry today, I decided to order the super bowl...it contains wonton noodle soup with bbq pork, roasted pork, and duck. It's probably still one of the best place to get wonton noodle soup in the city. To me...this place is and will always be known as "hole in the wall"...
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
Superbowl A, yes!!! It comes with wontons, noodles, bok choy, roasted duck and bbq pork. I know it's a lot, but Good Taste does wonton soup perfectly and their bbq meats are my favorite here in town. I ask to have the roasted duck and bbq pork on the side and get a side of rice to go as well. There's two meals, or one large meal if you're super hungry. I liked coming in and watching them form those delicious wontons by hand. It's currently just take-out and I would try other items, but when I am in the mood for wonton soup, this is where I go. I've tried a few other places in town, but this is by far my favorite.

Yelp
I had to travel all the way to Portland to have some delicious authentic Chinese Food. I unfortunately don't have any authentic Chinese restaurants in my city, I don't consider Panda Express authentic Chinese food. Thankfully Good Taste was not Panda Express. This is a small family owned Chinese restaurant located in Portland's China Town district. We ordered multiple dishes and all shared family style. Everything was cooked to order and they brought out the dishes one by one as they were made. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The trip to Good Taste filled our belly's and for the time being satisfied my Chinese food cravings.

Yelp
You'd never suspect this hole in the wall but it's very authentic and quite good! Orange chicken and noodles were delicious. They even cook whole pigs here in the back! Known for their catering too, I hear. My parents and family friends have been coming here for a long time. Wish they had potstickers, though.

Yelp
This restaurant has been here for decades. I would come here when I want some comfort food, just like today, in a typical Portland gloomy day, I want a hot bowl of wonton noodle soup. I think this bowl is their specialty as well as the roast duck and pork. Like most Chinese restaurants, the interior and environment aren't the most pleasant, but the food is solid. You don't need to be pretentious but being yourself in such an environment. That's why you can see everyone is so casual and relax here. Most importantly, the bowl is decent with a fair price. The roast duck wonton noodle soup is my favorite and the roast pork I had today is second. Back then, I hate their noodle with too much the taste of alkali water, today, I discovered the noodle was different. I was able to confirm with one of their waitresses and the lady told me they reduced the amount of alkali water in the noodle, which is a good news. The noodle tastes much better now. As a Cantonese, I have special emotion towards wonton noodle soup. Though this is not the best bowl I had, in Portland, it's considered one of the best. For people who really love wonton noodle soup, I recommend that when you get a chance to visit Hong Kong, look for the traditionally made jook-sing wonton noodles (竹昇雲吞麵) if you are lucky enough to find one as there are only a very few restaurants left that still make the noodles in the traditional manner. It's a simple bowl but usually the simplest is the hardest to make it good. A good bowl of wonton noodle soup not only the noodles are full of chewiness but soft and slippery that you can't taste of alkali water. The soup base should follow the traditional method using roasted flatfish, shrimp shell, pork bone, monk fruit and licorice with a fresh and sweet flavor. Yes, this is the bowl in memory... ... I haven't find the same yet in the states. This place only satisfied half of my craving of wonton noodle soup and roast duck / pork.

Yelp
GOOD TASTE! 好味道!!! VERY GOOD... 友好... Duck, roast pork, bbq pork, both dine in and to-go! I typically get their Souper Bowl because I love roast pork and duck with my wonton soup!!! BA$$ BOO$T! Hit 'em with a BASS BOOST! The wonton soup is so tasty, I always order "extra" wontons...and eat them all every time. Splash the red vinegar on the wontons and see what magic tastes like... Dang. Just thinking about the duck box makes me wiggle with joy!
